The opening smells like a mix of mothballs and burnt rubber, with a blackberry jam base. It’s something bizarre I’ve never heard before, like being in a doll factory, smelling melting plastic and the ‘new toy’ scent they add, which turns out to be blackberry. This weird scent (which has good projection) fades after about 2 hours, losing its strength and settling close to the skin as a pleasant but generic white floral with a subtle blackberry dry-down. Overall, it lasts about 10 hours on skin. I see it as a feminine daytime scent for the middle of the season, but I can’t picture myself wearing it. I’ve tried it several times across different seasons, but it’s no good: it has the most unpleasant opening I’ve ever tested (even though I’ve heard Secrecions Magnifiques is bad). I received a sample with one of my orders. I was excited to try it, even though I knew it wasn’t my style, but I was completely let down. It doesn’t work for me: there’s nothing special about it. It’s not boring, just totally conventional—the classic smell of cheap supermarket cologne. Unlike other perfumes that seem flat but which I get a lot of mileage out of (like L’instant de Guerlain), this lacks elegance and personality. There must be hundreds of similar fragrances in the supermarket. It’s pleasant, fresh, clean, good for the pool or beach, and nothing more. I wouldn’t wear it to work; I like scents that are elegant and have personality, and this lacks both. It lasts very little on the skin and the trail is soft, almost imperceptible. I’ve used it for several days and haven’t changed my mind: it just didn’t convince me. A run-of-the-mill floral with nothing noteworthy. The bottle, however, is gorgeous.
