A while back, a friend gifted me samples from Guerlain’s private line. While I liked several, Spiritueuse Double Vanilla stole my heart. It’s a fragrance I can’t quite afford, and with the bottle change, I’m not sure if it will stay the same, but for me, it’s one of the best vanillas I’ve ever smelled. My aunt ordered some cheap perfumes and, without me asking, left me this one: “I ordered it for you, you’ll thank me later,” she said. And she was right. It’s not identical, but it reminds me enough of my SDV to soothe my craving. Cologne of the Missions is pure vanilla. It’s not that sugary, pastry-like gourmand vanilla; it’s natural vanilla with hints of camellia, myrrh, and benzoin. The opening is very boozy, but soon it calms down, revealing the smoky touch of myrrh paired with a vanilla that sweetens over time thanks to the benzoin. In the dry down, there’s a light woody note. It’s not cloying or dense; it’s light and simple, wearable all year round. It’s a personal indulgence fragrance, meant to make you feel good and comforted. Unlike the SDV, which for me is a sexy vanilla for going out, this is a “cozy hug.” The longevity is average and it has no sillage, but since it’s affordable, I don’t mind reapplying. The SDV is more intense, woody, and long-lasting; I like to think this Cologne of the Missions would be the SDV after many reformulations. I’m eager to layer it; it surely combines wonderfully with many perfumes. I recommend it—it’s a must-have for vanilla lovers. I’ll keep waiting for the SDV in case I win the lottery and can have both, but for now, I’m satisfied.
I like it. It’s quite linear with lots of vanilla. The benzoin and myrrh give it a resinous touch, while the cedar adds a woody note. There’s definitely a green nuance, probably from centella. Almost everyone will like it. Soft, pleasant, and discreet. Despite appearances, it’s not very sweet; the centella tones down the sweetness and adds a refreshing lift. A must-try if you like vanilla. It just lacks a bit of sillage. The longevity is good but stays very close to the skin. Ideal for spring, autumn, and winter. Great for daytime when you don’t need strong projection. Longevity is lasting, though sillage is soft.
I was eager to try it because of the good reviews, and it didn’t disappoint at all. It’s gorgeous! Smells super natural, cozy, and creamy. It’s sweet but doesn’t feel cheap or like car air freshener. To me, it’s one of those many vanillas that smell exactly like this. In short, I loved it. I recommend it 100%—it’s affordable and high quality.
Smells like bacon, and it’s delicious!
I’m not a huge fan of overly sweet scents, and vanilla falls into that category, but thanks to @Cnidaria I tried this fragrance. It smells like pure vanilla, like real bean vanilla, with incredible nuances that convey joy, warmth, kindness, and innocence. It’s welcoming, a hug, an olfactory smile. It’s not cloying; it’s sweet but light, not dense or shocking. Since it’s an Eau de Cologne, it has a ‘fresh sweetness’. It’s not a summer refresher, but it’s very light compared to the cloying ones from mass-market brands. Worth trying. It’s minimalist but very well thought out. It reminds me of Cedrat Enivrant or Eau d’Hadrien for that minimalist yet original and pleasant idea.
Finally, I tried this cologne that smells like fine quality, distilling warmth and chicness; the vanilla here is divine. Missions is like perfuming yourself with a natural vanilla extract, although I know it has other notes, my nose only perceives that delicious and very natural vanilla. This cologne is perfect for giving yourself a warm hug, a comforting night, or a smile on overwhelming days. I’d be the happiest woman in the world if this beauty had better fixation; Missions is profoundly beautiful, the only thing missing for perfection is to stop being a cologne and become a perfume.
I like it. It’s quite linear and the vanilla stands out a lot. The benzoin and myrrh give it a resinous touch, and the cedar adds a subtle woody base. I notice a green nuance, probably from the centella. Almost everyone will like it: soft, pleasant, and discreet. Despite appearing so, it’s not very sweet; the centella refreshes the whole thing. A must-try for vanilla lovers. It lacks sillage; longevity is good but stays close to the skin. Ideal for spring, autumn, and winter, and for daytime due to the lack of projection. Long-lasting.
It exceeded my expectations. It has a better-realized vanilla than Serge Lutens’ Un Bois Vanille, well-balanced with myrrh and cedar, right on the unisex point, maybe a bit feminine, but I, a 23-year-old man, wear it comfortably. I’ve smelled a lot of designer and niche, and I believe that despite the price, it has exceptional quality. It’s an interesting oriental vanilla. I told the seller it could be my sleep perfume; he uses it on sheets and pillows and says he sleeps deliciously. If you see it, go for it. They even gifted me a soap with the same delicious scent. Jorge Elizalde, Xalapa, Veracruz, Mexico.
A delight for semi-gourmand tastes, with an excellent balance between sweet and balsamic. It has a superior aroma to a normal cologne, sophisticated, with vanilla, myrrh, benzoin, and wood. It deserves to be tried.
Finally tried this cologne that smells refined and distills quality and warmth; the vanilla is divine. Missions is like applying yourself with natural vanilla extract, accompanied by other notes my nose only perceives as that delicious natural vanilla. It’s perfect for giving yourself a warm hug, a comforting night, or a smile on difficult days. It would be perfect if it had better longevity; it’s profoundly beautiful, it just needs to stop being a cologne to become a true perfume.
A basic sweet vanilla, ideal for layering.
I bought a sample excitedly because of reviews calling it one of the best vanillas on the market, but I was disappointed. It smells exactly like Zara’s Rich Warm Adictive. There’s no vanilla, just sweet honey, tobacco, and that’s it. It’s linear. The performance is excellent (more than 12 hours) and I got compliments, but it’s not what I was looking for. My husband loved it, so I gave it to him; I think it’s more pleasant on men than on me, where the strong projection could feel heavy.
It resembles Zara Tobacco RWA, but there are differences. RWA smells like coconut, honey, and synthetic vanilla (not bad). Eau de Missions is more natural, like a homemade vanilla extract or liqueur. It’s sweet but not cloying thanks to its smoky air (probably resins). It doesn’t last or project much, but it’s fine for a cologne; the solution is to overapply. It’s discontinued and I miss it. I bought it because I’m a vanilla fan and I have no regrets. Sometimes I use it as a linen spray. It’s a rich, boozy, smoky vanilla.
A friend gifted me samples from Guerlain’s private line, and one of them conquered me: Spiritueuse Double Vanilla. It’s one of the best vanillas I’ve ever smelled, though I can’t afford it now. My aunt brought me this affordable fragrance as a gift; while it’s not identical, it reminds me enough of the original to satisfy my craving. Cologne of the Missions is pure vanilla, nothing cloying or pasty, but natural with nuances of camellia, myrrh, and benzoin. It starts boozy, then calms down with a smoky myrrh touch and sweetens over time. It has a woody base, is light, simple, and wearable year-round. It’s a warm, comforting, personal hug. Unlike SDV (which is sexy and for going out), this is for feeling good. The longevity is regular and sillage-free, but since it’s cheap, I don’t mind reapplying. It feels like a reformulated SDV. I recommend it as a must-have for vanilla lovers.
I just received a sample of this fragrance and was very excited after reading the positive comments, even describing it as one of the best vanillas on the market. I got it yesterday and I have to say I’m disappointed: it smells exactly like Zara’s Rich Warm Adictive. What about the vanilla? What about the other notes? I don’t know, but for me, it was a huge letdown—not because it’s bad, because it isn’t, but because I was expecting a delicious vanilla. Instead, I perceive a strong sweet honey note, a bit of tobacco, and that’s it; it’s quite linear. Its performance is excellent, lasting more than 12 hours on the skin, and I received several compliments, but certainly it wasn’t what I was looking for. My husband loved it because he adores the Zara one, so I gifted it to him; it’s not for me. In fact, I think it would be more pleasant on men, as that intense sweet note on me seems too heavy due to its strong projection.
A sweet, basic vanilla ideal for mixing with other perfumes.
The most incredible vanilla I’ve ever tried. If you love spiced, warm, and enveloping vanilla, this is exactly what you’re looking for. It has a soft incense touch, a great resinous base, and tea notes that give it a wonderful balsamic character. I wear it in winter to relax or sleep; it’s pure aromatherapy, very zen. It doesn’t last long on the skin (2-3 hours) but lasts all day on clothes. It’s pricey now, but if you find it on Amazon, buy it without hesitation. It’s a benchmark for vanillas, softer than Mercedes Benz Club Black. Totally unisex.
