Asad by Lattafa Perfumes

I bought it after a video by Andrés Perfume An where he recommended Asad as Lattafa’s number one. At first, I didn’t like it; it reminded me of JF9 by Jafra, an outdated and somewhat fecal scent. But I was wrong; it was probably the oxidation or lack of maceration. Once it opened up, I started to love the aroma, detecting woods, a clean scent, and a certain sweetness like pineapple. I liked it so much I fell in love, searched for similar fragrances, and even went to Liverpool to smell the Sauvage Elixir. Later, I bought Azaln Oud by Al Haramain, and wow, that one is much closer to the Sauvage Elixir, being more mature, potent, and long-lasting. In that sense, Asad is more versatile than Azaln Oud and Sauvage Elixir, because after an hour, those spices and woods that make the latter so exquisite, mature, formal, and serious fade away. In the dry-down, about 30 minutes in, it resembles the original, but for the price ($23), it’s a super fragrance that doesn’t smell like the quality of Azaln Oud; it holds up quite well and stands out from the rest. It’s like a blend of 90s perfumes with the modern touch of the 2010s. It’s for office use without over-spraying in cool weather like autumn and summer. If you’re under 25, wear formal clothes to match it. Definitely not a blind buy; I recommend smelling Dior Sauvage Elixir to get an idea of how Asad smells. You could say it’s the slightly younger version of Sauvage Elixir due to the pineapple touch and reduced spices, plus the smokiness. If you like that DNA, go for the Azaln Oud Blue Edition by Al Haramain, which is practically a 1:1 match to Sauvage Elixir and of much higher quality than Asad.

Here’s my most honest opinion: I understand why many don’t like it because it’s not ‘mass appealing’ or a ‘compliment giver’. To be precise, I sought it out, sprayed it on my hand, and remembered when I used it. It has a very complex scent, but for my nose, it’s not bad. It’s not for everyone because everyone just goes with the flow and doesn’t take the task of getting to know their fragrances in depth. Every fragrance has its habitat at the right moment; there are people who wear it in summer, during the day, in enclosed spaces, with inappropriate clothes (sweater with shorts, sneakers, cap, bad hair) How do you expect to stand out if everything is neglected? I’m not saying this just for this fragrance, but for all in general. Conclusion: You need character and personality to wear Asad. If you believe you have it, buy it and use it in moments with suitable weather. You’ll see how it flows, and if you care about opinions, don’t worry, they’ll make you feel attractive and important, I guarantee it.

I bought it as a gift and liked it. It’s very, very similar to Sauvage Elixir. Obviously, it’s not the same: neither the note-by-note scent, the ingredient quality, the longevity, nor the sillage are identical, but you smell it and everything points to Sauvage Elixir. And all for between 20 and 30 euros, when Sauvage Elixir costs almost 200€. For me, it’s a late-afternoon to evening fragrance, like Sauvage Elixir, but since it’s softer, you can wear it practically all day, even to the office without overwhelming anyone, unless you over-spray. The longevity depends on everyone’s skin, but it’s high; it lasts longer than most designer perfumes released today. On clothes, even though it’s soft, it will last until you wash them. I’m definitely buying it for autumn.

A full-on beast of a fragrance. They say it’s a clone of Sauvage Elixir but I think it’s not. They do resemble each other, but this has a twist toward spiced vanilla that I love. In that sense, it reminds me a bit of Pure XS Night, a pity it’s already discontinued. The longevity is eternal, about 10 hours, and it projects like a beast; ideal for partying all night and leaving a trail. Just make sure to shower before bed if you don’t want your sheets smelling for 3 days. For the price, a 10/10, and I must mention it seems much better than Asad Bourbon, which TikTok gives so much credit to.

Beast mode, one of the best from Lattafa. My first Arabic scent alongside Zanzibar. Usually, fragrances don’t last for me, but this was an exception: incredible trail and projection. It’s tricky to wear, NOT FOR YOUNG PEOPLE (like me), but rather for men aged 35-40 or a suit-up night because it smells like an old man with money. Black pepper and spices are very noticeable. Recommend it if you want something different for formal nights. NOT FOR DATES, DATES, OR DAILY USE (better to wear fly repellent in summer). I received compliments and I like it. Rating: 4.2/5.

I couldn’t find a use for it, not even on cold winter nights. I don’t recommend buying it blind: it’s excessively spicy and very strong. The pepper and tobacco blend together and almost tickled my nose. It resembles Dior Sauvage Elixir, yes, it certainly has its DNA, but Sauvage Elixir doesn’t give me what Asad does. Maybe due to having low-quality notes, it feels like a dizzying perfume. At least I don’t recommend it, it’s very dark. But as I always say, I don’t have the absolute truth and for tastes… colors and fragrances. A hug.

I disagree that it’s a ‘great perfume,’ but it’s very good for the price and what it’s meant to do. Let me explain: it has no minimalism; it’s packed with power and personality from the first second to the last. It lacks control over the notes; it feels like a chaotic mix of intense scents chasing a ‘wow’ factor rather than earning praise as a well-crafted fragrance. Nothing like high-end perfumery, yet it does its job: it smells good. If you’re looking for impact and personality, yes, it’s a good perfume.

I’m sorry to say this is possibly one of the most overrated fragrances in the Arab perfume world. It’s literally just so much pepper that you can’t smell anything else. It’s an invasive sensation I can’t quite describe. There are too many perfumes that improve on this concept, and honestly… there are better options for the price. You can buy something else.

My first Arabic fragrance and I fell in love at first sniff. It’s warm, spicy, with a slightly sweet base. Lasts a long time and is top-tier quality. Not for kids or teens; it commands authority and is a real man’s perfume. Perfect for special occasions, dates, or the club, but not for everyday wear.

A mix of coffee, which I don’t see in the notes, and tobacco with a touch of amber and a sweet note that’s probably vanilla. For 18 euros, it’s a good option for anyone who likes Halloween X or similar. Personally, it doesn’t do anything for me.

Disgusting, the worst purchase I’ve ever made. It sits at the bottom of my closet just to bulk up the collection. At 30-40 euros, you’d be better off spending that on a good ham. Do yourself and anyone who smells it a favor and skip it.

It’s going to be short and sillage-poor. My first Arabic perfume; it denotes elegance without being loud. Longevity and trail are average. It’s not for young people here; ideal for winter and autumn. A lovely scent, recommended.

Good aroma, masculine and formal, but not very versatile. I smell a lot of pepper at first; it lasts about 5 hours. It’s not youthful; it’s more dignified. It’s similar to the Elixir—same DNA but not a 1-to-1 dupe.
