Agua de Bambu by Adolfo Dominguez

I’ve had my first bottle of this for 13 years; it came in a gift box with aftershave of the same scent. I’ve bought three more since, including a 100ml bottle because it seems like they’ve stopped making it. It’s definitely one of my all-time favorite perfumes. It smells very similar to Creed’s Silver Mountain Water, and the perfumer is none other than Ramón Monegal. 10/10. Fresh, green, and clean aroma; every time I wear it, I feel like I just got shaved by that first splash of water. A true gem.

Great choice. The initial scent is like smelling a freshly cut branch or green bamboo, and after about 15 minutes, it transforms into a delicious, sweet, and masculine aroma. Citrusy, herbal, and fresh, I highly recommend it for your collection. The only downside is its short longevity, about 2 hours on my skin. It’s perfect for spring and suits all ages. I can’t find another identical perfume, so it’s almost unique. Overall, I’d rate it 8.5/10.

Despite its lightness, it surprises with its durability, outperforming the average for this style of cologne. Plus, you can apply it generously without worry, as it’s not even slightly invasive.

A fragrance that makes you feel clean and fresh, especially in spring and summer, though if you apply a little, it can work in autumn too. I love it; the bergamot and bamboo notes are very noticeable. I’ll be buying it again.

If you like Loewe’s water or the CK One line, you’ll absolutely love this. It’s unisex, with a citrus opening that blends into a refreshing tea, like Earl Grey, with a hint of pepper and a base of bamboo wood and yerba mate. Maybe it doesn’t project much, but it fulfills its function of smelling clean and fresh and gives you energy for the daily grind. Along with Citrus Cedro and Azhar Water, it’s one of Adolfo Domínguez’s best fragrances.

I met it among the Adolfo Domínguez line, and slowly, I fell in love. At first, on my skin, it felt like a slightly outdated classic I couldn’t quite place, but after letting it settle for a bit, I grew to like it. It’s cheap, starting off aromatic and generic, before evolving into something citrus-herbal with a bamboo base. Perfect for mild springs, temperate summers, and soft autumns; that note gives it an energetic touch. It’s versatile, though in my opinion a bit mature, and I still don’t get the opening. The longevity is good, about 6-7 hours on skin with a moderate trail that softens after two hours. Tip: spray it on clothes to make it last longer. I wouldn’t buy it again because there are better options; it’s not bad, it’s a great workhorse for daily wear due to the price, but ultimately, it feels a bit boring. 7.5 points.

GREEN AND SIMPLE: It’s an all-rounder fragrance at a modest price; it won’t win awards for being complex, but it’s super refreshing and versatile. Use it for workouts, weekends, or the office, and no one will complain about that fresh, herbal scent, whether you’re 18 or 50. The opening is citrusy and clean, with a distinct grapefruit note alongside bergamot, which for a moment reminds me of openings like CK One, CK All, L’Inizio Sport, or even Sanborns men’s cologne. Seconds later, you notice the bamboo and a fresh mix of green herbs. It’s linear with almost no nuance; what you smell in the first 10 minutes is what lasts, and the longevity is almost ephemeral: 2 hours on skin and about 3 on clothes. Projection is adequate for the first half hour, then drops to about 30 centimeters while it lasts. The good thing is it’s very economical, which adds value for daily use. In my opinion, the lack of a solid woody base limits its performance, but for the price, it’s worth it. Recommended sprays: ALL. Fixative: 6. Trail: Weak. Intensity: Light.

Clean and subtle fragrance, unpretentious; on my skin, it lasts 4 to 6 hours; ideal for hot days. The scent is linear, but the tea and bamboo are noticeable from time to time in perfect balance. I love the bottle, and the price-to-quality ratio is excellent.

Fresh, but not for summer: it’s versatile, ideal between 20° and 25° anywhere (except clubs or stuffy places). The bamboo and black pepper are almost linear, so it doesn’t reach 100% freshness. It projects well for an hour and then drops to skin-level, lasting 4 hours; on clothes, it holds up quite a bit, maybe 8 to 10. Excellent price in Argentina. Scent: 7, Quality: 7, Longevity: 5, Projection: 4, Versatility: 6. Three years ago I bought a flanker, Pure Ice Bamboo, which I can’t find here and don’t know why; in contrast to the original and others, it had a superior scent (like Issey Miyake but improved and more modern), with great projection and longevity. As happens with limited editions, they get lost, but the ones that remain become legends. It’s extremely cheap, I can’t find it here, and if they made it again, I’d review that gem. So far I have three bottles (one open and two new ones for when the current one runs out). I wonder what would have happened to Pure Ice if it had stayed available. What a shame.

Abstract but pleasant aroma, versatile and unpretentious: a blend of white musk with citrus, green, and aquatic touches. What I notice most is a soapy body with acidic citrus brushstrokes, ideal for daily wear and work, radiating cleanliness and tidiness. On my skin, it lasts moderately for about 3-4 hours with a soft trail. Good value for money. Cheers to the community.

It’s a fragrance that doesn’t say much: fresh, citrusy, clean, but nothing to highlight; it’s just average. Of similar characteristics, also from Adolfo Dominguez, try “Agua Fresca Citrus Cedro”; that’s the good one. This is a correct fragrance; I feel it’s slightly leaning feminine, but it could be unisex easily. Regarding the resemblance to Versace Eau Fraiche, I want to clarify that it doesn’t resemble it at all. Versace has an identity; you recognize the fragrance when you smell it. This one, however, has no personality. I wouldn’t buy it again; I’d go for the other one I mentioned.

Fresh, easy to wear, and affordable—you don’t need to mortgage your house for it. Smells like citrus and bamboo, perfect for summer. The scent is exquisite and gives the impression of a much more expensive perfume, but the only flaw is that it lasts very little; after one or two hours, it’s barely detectable. The bottle is pretty, with a blue gradient glass, but the cap is a disaster—hard to open and close (they’re geniuses). I recommend just overlapping the cap. It’s original; if it had better longevity and a magnetic cap, it would be a bestseller. I recommend it 6.5/10.

Honestly, I didn’t expect much from this ‘cheap’ fragrance at €16 for 60ml, but it’s become one of my favorites among fresh and green scents. I love that fresh bamboo smell mixed with citrus and tea. The downside is that it doesn’t last on my skin at all, even with over-application. I use it for short, sporadic outings; I know it won’t be there after two hours, so I reapply afterward. Very easy to wear, not bothersome, and smells better than A.D.’s ‘Bambú’ dry down.

It lasts very little, less than 2 hours. Citrusy, fresh, green, clean, but very short-lived. As an Argentine, I didn’t detect any yerba mate whatsoever.

A luminous, transparent water with a citrus/bitter, green, and spicy profile from four strong notes. It doesn’t smell cheap at all; in fact, it smells like a higher-end line product. It has a certain refinement and a sparkling tone that the mate adds beautifully. Highly recommended. I jumped in without prejudice and was surprised by how well-made it is.
