  • It’s a characterful perfume that evolves a lot on the skin. It starts woody, spicy, and very masculine, then turns sweet and smoky, into incense, which takes me to the Middle East. It’s oily, long-lasting, and projects well. I was surprised by it, though it hasn’t fully won me over yet; I need to give it time.

  • I was gifted a decant of this perfume, thank God only that, because I passed it to someone else. It smells too much like an old lady, both fresh and dry, quite strong and very woody. The cilantro seems to be the discordant note, making it more masculine. It’s an absolute.

  • I was gifted a decant, thank god it was just that, because I gave it to someone else as it smells like an older lady, both fresh and dry, very strong and woody. The cilantro seems like the dissonant note, making it more masculine. It’s an absolute.

  • It’s my second Thalia fragrance; I’ve adored her since 1994 and always wanted to try this after so many releases and collabs. I loved those bottles from the Thalia Sodi line, though I admit they don’t look as good in real life as they do in photos. I started with Liquid Sun, fresh and unisex, very similar to Tom Ford’s Neroli Portofino. This Absolute Amethyst is a different story: opulent, dense, and true to its bottle’s color. The note blend reminds me of ripe grape, spices, and cilantro, and that last one is just what doesn’t work for me. I’ll keep it as a collector’s piece and for the vibe. The composition is dense and sweet without being gourmand, with that late 90s/early 2000s feel. It’s a mature, nocturnal, rich scent where the orchid shines, though sometimes it feels heavy. The vanilla and tonka sweetness, plus the juicy nectarine, evoke that grape vibe and the bottle’s tone. Gradually the cilantro emerges, adding complexity alongside the tequila; I feel they used it on purpose since Mexico is Thalia’s home, echoing her culinary culture. It performs much better than Liquid Sun; they’re like day and night. While this is nocturnal, heavy, and long-lasting, Liquid Sun is for daily, casual wear. I hope to get the ones I’m missing soon, preferably all of them.
