I picked this up blind at the perfumerie for the iris, my signature note, and the name A l’Iris piqued my curiosity more than the classics. It’s affordable and fresh at first with pear, muguet, and vetiver with a musky touch, though the bergamot barely shows. It’s delicate and pretty, albeit slightly rubbery. For those who claim the trail is huge, try a vintage Kouros or a Rasasi Dhanal to understand what a space-age sillage is like; this clings to the skin and fades quickly, so I see it as an aromatic caress before bed or for intimate dates. The iris is pale, almost transparent, and a bit powdery, less intense than I expected, but the blend of synthetic pear and sweet florals is interesting and idiosyncratic. A pleasant fragrance that could have been superior without that iris as the star, but I’ll definitely use it anyway.
