9am Dive by Afnan is an aromatic aquatic fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2022, this composition is signed by perfumer Imran Fazlani. The top notes unfold with a vibrant citrus blend of lemon, sour lime, mint, black currants, and pink pepper; the heart reveals a combination of apple, cedar, and incense; while the base notes settle on ginger, sandalwood, patchouli, and jasmine.

9am is a beast for summer; I love it. It projects for 1 to 2 hours but stays on the skin for 5 or 6 hours. It’s a very good fragrance and quite underrated, overshadowed by 9pm which surpasses it in many aspects depending on the occasion. I recommend 9am for hot days and 9pm for nights and parties.

  • The opening is brutal, with lots of mint, but as it dries down, it matches Vaporrup with a touch of ginger that makes it too hot after a couple of hours. It doesn’t live up to its name; it’s ideal for going out at night in summer but not for all day. Longevity is moderate, about 4 hours solid, nothing beast-like. I liked the smell, but I didn’t expect it to be so overwhelming in the sun; however, for late afternoon and evening in spring or summer, it’s perfect.

When a perfume smells like soap: 9AM Dive. I came in with high expectations because it’s from the 9AM and 9PM line, but the experience wasn’t what I expected. From the start, the opening is key. The sandalwood base holds everything together, with green apple, citrus, and mint on top. As it dries down, the evolution is clear: it smells like herbal soap. More than a perfume, it gives the sensation of expensive soap with herbal extracts, as if you just stepped out of the shower after a gym workout. It’s not a bad smell, but it’s not for everyone. It has nothing to do with the usual comparison of mixing Bleu de Chanel and YSL Y, which many mention but doesn’t apply here. It doesn’t innovate at all; it recycles an olfactory profile we’ve seen in soap brands for years. It’s that same herbal scent you recognize when walking through the supermarket past similar options. My advice? Don’t buy blindly. If you have a chance to test it first, do so. But if you’re looking for something different, spend your money on another fragrance. Rating: 6.5/10.

Very citrusy, fresh, and clean fragrance. A bit flat and frankly not very novel. It’s like a mix of two or three well-known fragrances, though at a more convenient price. Excellent value for money, correct longevity. I agree it can be good for the gym or hot days. I can’t imagine a woman wearing it, so it’s strange to see it listed as unisex here. Worth it if you don’t want to spend much, though don’t expect anything groundbreaking.

9am Dive is the blue proposal from Afnan’s 9 line: citrusy, with mint, apple, and a woody base with incense that I love. It’s a hybrid between Bleu de Chanel and YSL Y EDT, let’s say 80% BDC and 20% YSL, though it reminds me of many blue fragrances. If you already own one of those, don’t buy it, but if you’re looking for something fresh for heat and daytime, it’s an excellent option at a low price compared to the originals. Longevity is moderate, about 5 to 6 hours, with acceptable projection; it’s not a beast mode, it stays in your bubble, very wearable and pleasant. At around $28, it’s a good buy if you’re looking for something in the BDC line without spending $150. It doesn’t propose anything new; it’s what a blue fragrance should be: versatile, pleasant, reliable, and suitable for any context. If you want a ‘people-pleaser’ scent that gets compliments without being annoying, go for it. It’s all that. Hugs.

  • I’m here to be a hater due to unjustified hype: it mixes two legendary DNA profiles (Y from YSL and Bleu de Chanel) but only lasts half an hour, then smells like nothing. The longevity is abysmal. I’m not a fan of Bleu de Chanel, but as a hybrid, I prefer it to Iconic. Out of my 40 perfumes, it’s the one that lasts the least on skin, even compared to Pisa, Strong by New Brands, and Benetton. Sillage and longevity are terrible. The smell is bearable, but it doesn’t matter because it doesn’t last; you’d have to reapply every two hours. The good thing is it’s cheap, but for what it offers, Nautica Voyage is better. A gym perfume.

Freshness, cleanliness, elegance, and versatility—that sums up this fragrance. People say it’s similar to Bleu de Chanel; I’d say it’s in the same neighborhood without being an inspiration or a dupe; it has its own personality. Personally, it surpasses it hands down and at an unbelievable price. I think it will be one of my favorites this year.

  • Fresh scent, citrus opening, with a discrete but solid projection for the first hour. As it dries down, the sweet and fruity notes come through. After the second hour, it gets woody and a bit powdery. It’s clearly identified as a blue fragrance, quite fresh. On skin, it lasts more than 5 hours, even close to the skin (and that’s saying a lot since lotions don’t usually last for me). If you want it to last longer, spray generously, even on clothes. Anyway, very good. Reminds me of 9PM and 9 PM Rebel in the sweet parts, but since it’s more moderate, it leans much more towards fresh and daytime.

  • Gatoketchuprana

Fresh and fruity opening with aquatic and citrus notes. I catch a hint of mint, and although it’s not listed, a light touch of pineapple that isn’t cloying. It evolves from fruity to something marine, fresh, and mature. The sillage is more than acceptable for what it is; it lasts about an hour and a half with projection, then settles into your personal bubble with those marine notes. Spray 5 to 15 times depending on the wind, if you’re outdoors, or how long you need it to last. Never overpowers. Ideal for men of any age. If you’re looking for something fresh, affordable, and perfect for summer, 9am Dive is a great option, but shop around and compare based on your budget.

  • Paco_zul9

Great scent that doesn’t bother anyone. Lasts up to 8 hours with about an hour and a half of projection. It’s not a beast, but it’s very good for work or daily wear.

  • Donfinolis

Good blue perfume for everyday use; it doesn’t last long or project like a beast mode, but its great scent makes up for it; excellent for school, office, or the gym; never buy it for more than 500 pesos.

  • A manual blue perfume, elegant, citrus with a touch of wood and summery. Lasts about 4 hours with 12 sprays and for me it’s a 6/10.

  • Pleasant, easy to understand, fruity and green with a hint of sweetness. It doesn’t feel artificial; I consider it great for daily wear—youthful and practical. Longevity and projection are moderate, lasting about 4 hours on skin in very hot weather. This type of fragrance is usually very well-received by women; they love it. Personally, I recommend it 8/10.

  • SygmaSergio

Don’t expect anything like its nighttime sibling 9PM; it’s totally different in every way except the bottle. It’s fresh, woody, and perfect for summer and heat. You can clearly detect the citrus, pepper/incense, and in my case, lots of jasmine. It leans more masculine; I wouldn’t see it on a woman. The longevity has nothing to do with its sibling; it fades more quietly. I see it for everyday wear at work without trying to make an impact, for the gym, occasional outings, and the beach. With about 15 sprays, you get 6-8 hours on skin that only you or someone giving you a hug will notice. The projection leaves a trail for the first two hours. For the quality-to-price ratio, I give it 7/10. I’d buy it again.

  • It delivers for the price. At first, it has that Bleu de Chanel DNA, but as it evolves, it shifts to that clean side of YSL. Projects well for 1.5 to 3 hours with a nice trail. I recommend it blindly because it’s an easy-to-love scent.

  • No one gets it—they think it smells like a mix of Y and Bleu, but the scent is a cheesy citrus that smells like furniture cleaner. It doesn’t last even an hour; maybe it’s the batch, but I expected more based on the reviews. I feel forced to sell it because I don’t think I’ve ever bought a worse fragrance.

  • My first Arabic fragrance; it was my girlfriend’s favorite in the summer. I bought it at 13, and in my opinion, it’s easy to wear for any age. Up close, it has a green vibe with minimal citrus notes, but from a distance, it’s a very pleasant sweet fruity trail. Both in its top and base stages, it’s easy to enjoy and has gotten me the most compliments from people of all ages. It’s not for parties or dates; it’s great for everyday wear—easy to like but not meant to captivate in the heat. Longevity is around 5 to 7 hours with moderate projection for about an hour and a half, after which it stays in its own bubble. It demands heat; wearing it in the cold would be foolish. It’s good value for the price, suitable for all ages and tastes. Edit: The glass is fragile and breaks easily; it’s happened to me a couple of times, but luckily it hasn’t broken yet. I don’t consider it a dupe; it just borrows elements from the DNA of several summer fragrances.

  • To sum up, it’s rich but doesn’t last long. Personally, I love the smell; it’s nothing extraordinary, but I really like it. A couple of people between 22 and 50 have told me I smell great, but only when they get close (less than a meter). I can’t describe it exactly; it’s mainly fruity and citrusy, very ‘blue fragrance’ style, and it doesn’t feel synthetic. It feels fresher and more mentholated in the heat. I don’t detect the incense, which is a plus. The projection reaches about a meter and lasts 1.5 hours on skin and 4 on clothes; afterward, it lingers in bursts within 10-20 cm for another two hours. I’ll highlight that it lasts all day on clothes, and if you sweat or get wet, the scent projects again—in fact, I still smell it after showering the next day. It’s nothing extraordinary, but I love it a lot. Everyone I’ve asked finds it pleasant or rich. Nobody goes crazy over it, but I’d say everyone enjoys it. It’s perfect for the office or university, especially in the heat. For me, it could be a great gift or a blind buy if it’s a good price; I got it for $35, but if I see it for under $30, I’ll buy it again without hesitation.

  • The go-to formula for smelling good in the heat. You can’t ask for more from a fragrance at such a low price. It’s not memorable, not standout, and doesn’t project an extraordinary image; you just smell good and that’s it. It saves the day on countless hot days when you don’t know what to wear. It’s a safe bet, and as safe bets go, it’s as generic as it gets.

  • Smells good, dry. The downside is its poor longevity, and the worst part is its non-existent projection. It’s a shame because if it’s a staple for daily wear, it would be an excellent perfume if it had more staying power.

  • A delicious blue fragrance for summer, with a youthful touch that anyone will like. It’s perfect for hot days, fresh and versatile. Its only weak point is performance: longevity and projection hover around 5-6 hours, but it’s still a very enjoyable and easy-to-wear scent.

  • Good fragrance, I use it daily at the office and find its performance acceptable for the price. The apple note is soft, almost imperceptible, and I don’t detect the blackcurrant. It’s the famous ‘clean laundry’ scent. It feels like a normal, run-of-the-mill perfume. If you’re on a tight budget and want to pick just one scent for all-day wear, this is the one.

  • 9AM Dive has many virtues but falls short on performance. It’s fresh, modern, and citrusy with sweet apple notes; the scent is pleasant and clean. Ginger and mint add a lot of freshness, making it excellent for the office, though you’ll need to reapply to make it last all day. For me, it’s one of my favorites for wearing after a shower before bed. It’s also a great option for the gym or sports.

  • Edgar250392

I bought this blind, expecting something aquatic, salty, or like a shower gel, but it turned out to be a fruity bottle dominated by green apple. It’s a love-hate relationship: it doesn’t last long but performs incredibly well; three coworkers even asked for it for their partners. Personally, I couldn’t even smell it after 16 sprays daily or even two hours later. It was pleasant, but I won’t repurchase; I’ll look for something similar with better longevity.

  • tomasubiera

It’s worth noting that, despite being youthful, an older lady stopped me in the hallway and said it smells great. Yes, it suits any palate—it’s not overpowering or tiring, though its Achilles’ heel is longevity. It would last longer and competes with the best, but you can fix that with a decant or over-applying. It’s 100% aquatic and marine, reminding me of freshness, and was my daily driver for a while. Will I return to it? I don’t know, I’m trying other things. But at this price, it’s the best. People love it, and in the Dominican Republic, it’s perfect for the climate.

  • It smells fresh, plain and simple. Nothing special about it, but it doesn’t try to be. Like all Afnan fragrances: affordable perfumes for everyday use, very pleasant for everyone. For me, this lacks a bit of character; I’d prefer any other fresh scent.

  • Brianlara93_

I love the scent: it’s fresh, and the mint gives it a comforting sweetness. I use 12-15 sprays, and it lasts 6-7 hours on skin and over 12 on clothes. I get lots of compliments, feel happy, and gain more energy, positively changing my mood.

  • Among fresh and citrus scents, this one leans more toward evening wear, though it smells green and crisp right after spraying. As the heart and base notes unfold, it transforms into a sweet, fruity blend perfect for a summer night.

  • Fresh but sweet, with just the right amount of sweetness for spring or summer nights, not so much for daily wear. It feels identical to Natura’s K EDP, and both last about 4 hours. It’s boring and linear; if you’re looking for these traits but without being generic, I recommend Lacoste Match Point.

  • I gifted it to my dad, who likes fresh scents, and it was the right choice. I bought a decant first, and after a day, I confirmed it’s good. It’s not my favorite because the DNA is similar to other freshers; although the mint is rich with a sweet touch, it doesn’t stand out for being different. For someone starting out looking for something fresh, it’s a good option with decent longevity, projection, and price, but it’s not one of my favorites.

  • Exquisite. I’ve loved it since I bought it a year ago, and it’s my favorite. In my hot city, it works great: aquatic, fresh, woody, and spicy. What I smell most is blackcurrant, mint, pink pepper, and woods. It reminds me of mornings after a shower, ready to go to school, church, or the office; also great for running or sports. It automatically puts me in a good mood. I got it for about $50 a year ago; I would have loved it at $25, but it was still worth it. The downside is the longevity, but you can carry a decant to reapply without hassle.

  • I’m glad some gave it good reviews, but my experience wasn’t great: it smells like nothing, like water, a rip-off. I’ll let it macerate for a few weeks to see if it improves, otherwise it’s going in the trash. I don’t want to take up space with something that serves no purpose.

  • Fresh for everyday wear, versatile, and easy to like. It has a salty touch that gives it a summery vibe. Unfortunately, it didn’t feel the same as Bleu de Chanel to me. It’s good for gifting because it’s inoffensive and almost everyone will like it, but it feels like perfumes you already know, as if it lacks its own sparkle. I had high expectations and it didn’t win me over.

  • caquitablanca9am

Exquisite, with marine notes making it very fresh and a lemon that isn’t overwhelming. It feels more like YSL Eau Fraîche than Bleu de Chanel, but for around $30, it should be one of the best Arab perfumes out there.

  • Exquisite and fresh with herbal notes, perfect for daily wear or special occasions. It’s very versatile and goes with any outfit. It lasts about 4 hours; during the first hour it projects at its peak, so for the price, it’s worth reapplying later. I’ve been complimented a couple of times, which gives me more motivation to wear it. Buy blind, guys.

  • The opening feels very synthetic, but after 15-20 minutes, it changes drastically and becomes really pleasant. I wear it to school, and with just 5 sprays, it lasts about 7 hours. It’s quite passive; mixed with that synthetic opening, my parents hate it, but my friends haven’t had that issue. I have limited experience, but I hope this helps.

  • petrowski4

Fresh, woody, and herbal; it’s very masculine and powerful for his style. It has great longevity and projection, but the scent is mature, not youthful. It costs around $30, and I recommend testing it before buying blindly. Ideal for night or cool days, though it can be too strong in the heat.
