I bought it a few months ago because I expected it to be similar to Black Opium, but when I tried it, I didn’t like it, so I decided not to use it. After having it forgotten for a few months, today I decided to use it, and I have to say it really surprised me. From the opening, it reminded me of Black Opium – although it doesn’t list coffee as a note, I can smell it, and there’s also tonka bean combined very well with vanilla. Unlike other Zara fragrances (which don’t last long on my skin), this one performs well. If you like Black Opium or La Belle Parfum, I think Gardenia is in the same vein. What a lovely rediscovery! From now on, I’ll use it more…
RICH GENERIC VANILLA I really like it. I bought it just because it came with the Orchid, which I love; I use it for running errands, but it surprised me. At one point I stopped using it because it seemed like a super generic vanilla scent, and maybe it is, but that doesn’t make it any less rich. They say it’s a dupe of Black Opium, which I used to love at one time, and it’s true – although here the vanilla is stronger and the spicy notes take a back seat, whereas in the original it’s the opposite. A super affordable version of a classic everyday vanilla that goes with everything, and I get lots of compliments too!

I bought it without high expectations because I saw it’s a dupe of Black Opium. When I tried it – ugh, totally true, although as we can see, Gardenia has a very simple composition compared to what I consider the most predominant notes of Black Opium, hence its great resemblance.
