Penhaligon’s latest, a fragrance I didn’t even know existed until a friend at Julia de Andorra suggested it. It’s a quintessential fougère that beautifully evokes a quiet spring morning in an English field. It’s entirely green, herbal, and mossy, with mint, basil, and lavender providing freshness, while cedar, cypress, and hyssop add that herbal touch. It feels like walking through a field with freshly cut grass—pure nature and fresh air. It smells very natural. While it doesn’t bring anything new to the fougère genre, the ingredient quality is evident; if the price isn’t a concern, it’s worth it. Longevity is appropriate for this type of fragrance, around 5-6 hours on skin with moderate projection.

Too bad it fades so quickly; after an hour, that wonderful top note disappears, leaving behind a very common woody dry-down that adds nothing. Skip it.
