I own the original Devotion and tried the Intense version mainly to spot the differences. To my surprise, it seems quite, if not almost, identical to the original version. The sales associate agreed with me that they didn’t change much. It’s as rich as its predecessor; the hazelnut is barely felt in the opening, disappears, and in the dry-down, we have the normal Devotion. I thought this would project better and feel more potent, at least, but no… To be the ‘Intense’ version, D&G fell quite short with this launch, in my opinion.
I own Devotion, so I had high expectations for trying this perfume, yet I was completely disappointed. It’s almost a copy of the normal version; I can’t find anything ‘Intense’ about it. I feel very little difference between the two. I have a decant of the Intense, so I compared them, and the normal one has better longevity, at least on my skin.
I tried it at the perfumerie, and honestly, it smells like Devotion to me, just less sweet. My boyfriend got the impression it was also less intense (haha, what a shock), and he gave it a 7.2. I’d say I like it a bit more than Devotion, but it’s not my absolute favorite.
After comparing them side by side, half a review: The opening of this Intense is muuuuch superior and delicious compared to the original, thanks to the hazelnut note—what a rich thing. Just that hazelnut opening made me hesitate between taking the Intense or the original. But then, in the dry-down, the original smells much better; it sits wonderfully on the skin, whereas the Intense seems to fade and becomes subtler, where the ‘Intense’ part remains only in the name. Now, after 15 hours on blotting paper, the Intense still feels completely present (minus the hazelnut note which only brightens the opening), while the original is several tones softer, almost imperceptible. Now I’m undecided: joy in the opening and longevity with the Intense, or a better scent throughout the fragrance’s life despite shorter longevity with the original.
I have both. The original Devotion lasts longer than the Intense. The Intense has only a faint hazelnut scent that unfortunately vanishes in a breath, giving way to a very skin-scented woody aroma. A thousand times the original. I got the other one as a gift, but I wouldn’t replace the original.
I own both. I prefer the Intense version because the citrus isn’t as obvious, and on my skin, the hazelnut note holds up.
The classic Devotion doesn’t kill me, but this one fascinates me. I need it, even though I’m not a fan of citrus; here, the notes blend so well and are so gourmand that they make your mouth water. It smells like lemon and orange with an alcoholic touch, yet also like freshly baked butter cookies dipped in white chocolate.
I bought this perfume for my girlfriend for her birthday, and I love it. It reminds me of chocolate-filled cookies. It’s one of my favorite sweet perfumes for girls.
Well, if I have to choose between the classic Devotion and this, I’d go with the Intense. The latter is more complex, featuring a pronounced orange liqueur blended with lemon. It fills the room. It’s a cold-weather perfume; the scent is cozy, expanding around you to create an alcoholic, sweet, and potent microclimate.
Beautiful. Among current perfumes, this is one of the longest-lasting.
Devotion Intense 🧁. I think it’s one of the most popular perfumes right now and it’s one of those you either love or hate. To me, it has a citrus opening, even though it’s not listed in the notes, and lasts about 10 minutes; on my skin, it’s quite ethereal. The dry down is the best: hazelnut with bergamot and vanilla. It could be the recipe for a Three Kings Cake. It dries down very vanilla with that biscuit vibe I love so much. The hazelnut feels creamy, sometimes it seems like it has coconut in it. It certainly has me hooked and I don’t rule out buying the regular version soon.
Fucking awesome scent, bold, modern, and stylish, a risky bet by D&G for the mainstream men’s market. It smells 100% realistic like espresso coffee, ergo hazelnutty, as if you just spilled a machine-pulled cortado all over yourself. It doesn’t smell like natural bean or the bitterness of roasted coffee, nor the ultra-sweet cappuccino vibe like other gourmand fragrances. By the way, the note isn’t even on its olfactory pyramid. Unfortunately, it lacks versatility and evolution. If you’re obsessed with coffee scents, go for it; if not, watch out or you’ll regret it. So, I recommend testing it first, especially on skin. Never buy blind. Ask for a sample at your trusted perfumer and you’ll act with full knowledge. Decent performance without exaggeration, around 6 hours. Moderate price given the state of things lately in popular or selective perfumery.
I like it more than the regular Devotion, though it still doesn’t fully convince me. It’s too gourmand.
While testing perfumes with my mom and sister, I stumbled upon this. On the skin, the opening smelled like absolute trash, a disaster, like a candle trying to smell like chocolate. Later, as it dried down, the vanilla rose up and the hazelnut moved to accompany it, not to be the star. I loved the dry down and now my mom wants it for herself.
Too cloying.
I simply love this perfume and I don’t care if others don’t like it. Finally, I found something that fascinates me and is this durable 💖.
I truly need to give it a second chance. Without a doubt, it captivates massively from the opening to the heart notes, which are wonderful. To me, it’s sweet and elegant, a super refined vanilla. My only complaint is the longevity and sillage; I only felt it for 3 hours. I’ll let it macerate for 2 months to see if the notes gain more strength on my skin and I’ll review it again.
I already liked the original Devotion, but the Intense version has won me over. In the opening, it feels more distinct from the original; while the original smells like lemon, here you notice more orange, though they dry down similarly. Yes, the Intense is stronger and sweeter. This version lasts longer on me. I wear it in summer because I’m used to very sweet perfumes, but if the heat overwhelms you, save it for autumn and winter.
I’m going to say something controversial (I think), but it goes muuuy well with Bare Vanilla Candied and Bianco Latte. The hazelnut opening is a bit overwhelming, gave me a headache, and you can tell the full duration (around 8 hours) but with less intensity. It’s so rich, smells like chewable glamour, like an expensive dessert, not vanilla ice cream. It’s sweet, but that’s not the main thing. The trail is insane for the first two hours, then it becomes almost intimate very quickly. It’s hazelnut with lemon and vanilla, but that lemon is more like sour candy, nothing citrusy. I’d love it more if the hazelnuts didn’t give me a headache. 9/10.
Tested it today and, as a huge fan of sweet scents, I’m already craving more. In the store, I sprayed a couple on the back of my hand and—bam!—felt that sweet hit of hazelnut and vanilla with a very interesting citrus base. I was amazed, looked at the bottle, and paid close attention to the name. Then I tried the original, which is also a marvel, but on my skin, as the hours passed, I noticed the Intense version was much more perceptible. Even after washing my hands several times, Devotion Intense was still there, while the original was almost imperceptible. I don’t care if it’s labeled for men or women; when I like something, I like it. It’s going on my list as a definite buy as soon as I can. Cheers.
I like it. But I like the original much more. I don’t understand why they would call it ‘intense’ when the perfume is softer.
My holy grail of perfumery. I received a sample gift a few months ago, and it’s fantastic. Its scent reminds me of a freshly baked cake made with nut flour. This gives it a very marked woody facet that during the first few minutes can feel quite masculine. Despite this, it becomes softer and more delicate as it dries down. The final scent, as I said, is a lovely, airy cake. It’s not as sweet as many people describe it. I see it exclusively for cold seasons. While the original Devotion works perfectly for me as a unisex fragrance (perhaps due to the mix of rum and sharp citrus notes), Intense leans absolutely towards the feminine; but this shouldn’t limit you if you’re a man who enjoys a well-made, round gourmand. I think attitude is key, and anyone who wants to smell like a delicious, expensive, woody, fluffy, and completely exquisite dessert can wear it gracefully. P.S.: Does anyone else find a fairly subtle similarity with Tobacco Vanille at some point? Devotion Intense is like its younger sister, less dirty and less rocker.
I really like it! I feel like it’s a very special perfume, not something to buy blindly. The almond note is very noticeable, but it also has a scent reminiscent of expensive sunscreen. It’s sweet and gourmand but nothing cloying; it’s a soft, well-crafted sweetness, like an almond cake. I only notice the citrus in the opening; afterwards, it’s just almonds and a rich sunscreen scent. Personally, I usually like Dolce&Gabbana perfumes; I consider them elegant and feel they wouldn’t bother anyone else.
I had promised myself not to buy the original D, and I did so. An addictive fragrance but somewhat simple. Well, I couldn’t resist D Intense now. This formulation is deeper and more complex. Warm, sweet, and very addictive. This version is more adult; in the dry-down phase, it’s slightly mysterious, and its base is enveloping. The dry-down is most similar to the original D, but then it evolves into a more personal scent—it’s not linear like the first perfume. It lasts quite a bit on the skin and sticks to clothes. I love it! I wear it alone or layered over Dolce Femme. A total exquisite experience.
I absolutely loved it! I haven’t tried it 100% yet, but from the very first application, Devotion Intense felt like a spectacular fragrance. It’s a delicious, creamy vanilla of high quality, with that hazelnut cream note and a subtle citrus base (like a hint of orange and lemon zest) that makes it more interesting and not overly cloying. I find it richer and more balanced than the original version, with a more intense and warm profile. It has an oily base on the skin, which I feel will make it last a long time. Overall, it feels gourmand, elegant, and characterful. It’s ideal for those who enjoy sweet but refined perfumes. It has that sophisticated, comforting vibe that makes you smell ‘expensive,’ but in a soft and cozy way.
DragonReview – Devotion Intense: I always clarify that my opinions are personal (I write about performance on my skin that day, which might change). My tastes lean more towards citrus and vanilla scents, so I had doubts because I read it might leave a sour scent later. Opening: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I loved it; it’s a very realistic, sweet lemon, nothing sour, almost like sugar-coated lemon. I didn’t smell the hazelnut at all (which I did expect), but I liked it quite a bit. Dry Down: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A dessert-like vanilla appears, soft and sweet, mixing perfectly with the citrus opening, exactly the style I enjoy so much. Base: ⭐⭐☆☆☆ This part failed me; at the end, it turned into a strange lactonic note, like half-sour milk, and I no longer felt the nice vanilla. This afterglow didn’t please me, but it doesn’t take away from its beauty. Sillage: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ With few sprays, it projects well or moderately; it’s pleasant, but after a few hours, it drops significantly and stays close to the skin. Longevity: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ It performed well in moderate weather, lasting about 3 to 5 hours with sillage and then another 6 to 8 hours close to the skin. I consider it worked better than expected. My final rating: 4/5. Overall, I loved it because it combines my tastes and I ended up liking it a lot; the only downside was the ending, which I didn’t like at all. Honestly, I was surprised because I thought I wouldn’t like it. If your tastes are citrus with a sweet touch, give it a try. Note: on very hot days, I think it could end up being too intense.
Very rich and delicate; you can detect the hazelnut at first, a little like incense, perhaps due to the roasted hazelnuts. Actually, it’s a very rich perfume, worth having in your collection, delicious. You just have to wait for it to develop more, but even now, I loved it.
Very gourmand. It basically smells like hazelnuts, sweet. It lasts a long time on my skin with quite a bit of intensity. It’s warm and cozy. It smells like a cold winter night in front of a big fireplace.
I tested it blind without knowing its notes and only noticed an extremely sweet and sharp orange scent; I had to wash my hand because it seemed too intense and sweet. I’m surprised to read there are nuts because I didn’t perceive them anywhere, and the orange blossom note confirms the sweet and orangey smell. I’d say it smells like those small hard candies that were always in grandma’s house, a resounding no for me.
I like it, but I expected more; I think it’s overrated.
I’m head over heels for this perfume. It can be worn all day if used moderately, as it’s a bit strong. I absolutely love it and it’s definitely one of my favorites.
It’s the most flattering perfume in my collection, and I LOVE the EDP even more. I read reviews saying it smells similar, but I don’t get that much; I can’t believe it doesn’t list orange—I SMELL AN ORANGE SO STRONGLY, BEAUTIFUL! I feel this one has more creaminess and sugar, it’s sweeter and gourmand, but not as versatile as the EDP. I love it, but I don’t find it for daily use; it has to be for winter on specific plans, not for the office. PUT THIS ON AND I FEEL LIKE A SWEET, EMPOWERED QUEEN, no joke jajaj ♥! Longevity is a million.
At first, I perceive the DNA of the original with the absence of the little lemon. As it dries, it seems like a white latte, which isn’t advisable to wear on hot days. I prefer the lemon 🍋.
It’s a guilty pleasure. I don’t perceive hazelnut at the start, but rather a quite intense caramelized lemon. Combined with vanilla (very nice and light), rum, and white flowers, it’s a fragrance that conveys lots of joy to me. I don’t find it sophisticated or excessively sexy, but I love it. It has good longevity and a nice evolution toward a vanilla with rum and orange blossom notes, neither light nor heavy.
I tested it excitedly for the notes, especially the hazelnut part. At first, I only perceived a sweet citrus opening, quite strong (I liked it), then it settled into a strong smell that seemed repellent; it seemed really weird to me. It reminded me of cat pee 😺. Obviously, it’s a matter of my skin, but you have to try it before ordering it.
It’s a very exquisite perfume; I love its notes.
Unfortunately, it’s not to my liking.
In a moment of madness, I bought this perfume blind. Considering it’s not cheap, I admit I was anxious until it arrived. It took two tries to understand it and fall in love. The first spray is strange and unexpected; I’m not used to the hazelnut note, and that’s what hits first. Then the orange appears, and the combination is comforting, like walking into grandma’s house while she’s baking. I don’t usually wear gourmand perfumes, but I loved this one so much. It has something warm and enveloping that surprised me. Now I’m waiting for winter to wear it freely, because in summer it might make people faint 😅. It’s 100% a winter scent.
Love at first sight. It’s everything that’s right, and I trusted it would be so thanks to the great creator of this fragrance. I adore it. Orange, hazelnuts, and vanilla—that’s all I feel, and I don’t need anything more in Devotion Intense.
It came out exquisite, with that almond/walnut touch at the start, but it fades in a heartbeat; then it’s the original Devotion softened with citrus. Very rich—if you like one, you’ll surely like the other. I prefer this because the trail is much sweeter.
