BLV by Bvlgari

Smells like warm, talc-fresh freshness. I think it’s unisex; my boyfriend wears Halloween Men and I can definitely smell a resemblance. For @Ellagriss: if you’re from Mexico, check out the Paris scents world—they have an inspiration very similar to this, and it’s gorgeous.

This is my second review, also for a fragrance sadly discontinued… it was the second one my aunt gave me in the 2000s, and the impact it had on me as a teen is immense; I treasure it so much. It’s for every occasion, like a second skin, a clean scent. I don’t think I’ve ever felt ginger like this before—what a marvel! I love this aroma so much it makes me furious that it’s not even available in a dupe. If anyone knows of a perfume vaguely similar, I’d be so grateful.

I’m always drawn to Morillas perfumes; this is one of them. If I could find it again. I got it once in 2005 at a pharmacy in another city and haven’t seen it since. It’s exquisite; it comes back to my recurring olfactory map. It’s a total bomb.

I imagine a girl from those years looking in the mirror: new dress, perfect hair, matching jewelry… just the right perfume is missing. She has many luxurious bottles in her closet, but emotionally, she doesn’t know which one to choose. Her hand caresses the Blv bottle. Buying this perfume, one of Morillas’ best creations, wasn’t easy; I had to wait for favorable conditions. It’s a jewel, essential if you love this line, it fits the body and feels incredibly pampering. It represents Bulgari’s beauty, elegance, and quality, clearly inspiring the men’s version. It starts citrusy with ginger, not overly rebellious, and turns creamy in the base with musk. It lifts your spirits, you feel good: clean, fresh, well-perfumed. In the heart, it blends with wisteria and acacia, but lemon and bergamota are noticeable. The base is warm yet always fresh. I see it as refined, easy for any occasion; it’s a pity production has stopped, it would be perfect for elegant dressing and smelling special. Totally unisex if you can find it.

I love this sadly discontinued masterpiece. To me, it smells like sapphire if that stone had a scent. I wore it as my signature fragrance during the best years of my life when I was a young, single, free woman, confident I’d achieve everything I wanted, just starting my professional and independent life with all my dreams ahead of me. I was free, my dreams were coming true, and… guess what? I smelled like BLV. I had two bottles, but when I went to buy a third, I found the sad and terrible news that it had been discontinued (already about 10 years ago). So I treasure the few drops left in the last bottle, never to forget this beautiful, exquisite fragrance that made me feel unique because no one else smelled like me in an era when everyone smelled like Halloween…

It gave me the impression of a fresh, herbal unisex scent. I only have the samples they gifted me, but I don’t know if it’s still in production or not.

This was a masterpiece. A dreamy perfume with no trace of cheesiness. I don’t remember it as clearly as I’d like, but I can say it made me think of that strange moment when you’re not quite asleep but not fully awake either, that brief instant when your mind drifts toward sleep and rest yet still retains awareness of the real world. BLV had a strange calming quality, yet it was refined and sensual. It shares with its male counterpart a prominent ginger note, but in the heart, it takes a different turn: an avianilla honeysuckle that turns cold thanks to the ginger and musk. The dry-down on skin was delicious; you’d want to bite the neck of anyone wearing it. Both this and the men’s version had that cool-and-warm vibe that defines so many perfumes of the new millennium. Absolutely unisex. An unjustly discontinued work of art from years ago, one of Bvlgari’s best. We’re lucky the men’s version is still available, but I’d dare say this was even better. If you see it at a good price, don’t hesitate; it’s a gem.

You left me without a word when I wanted you the most, and I get in a bad mood seeing your brother still around. What a shame I can’t find you anymore.

In a capricious world, especially among humans, there are twin pairs; the surprise is greater if they are a woman and a man. An example is Scarlett Johansson and her brother Hunter. Why start with this? Because I think Bvlgari gave birth to a pair of aromatic twins, a girl and a boy, with the same name. They have similarities to be twins, though not identical. The curious thing is that the girl was born a year before her brother. Talking about the ‘girl,’ Blv is warm and seductive: it opens with energetic ginger and bergamot, softened by floral notes, and its charm is enhanced by vanilla, musk, and sandalwood. It has an exquisite scent, lasts a long time, and projects moderately, with a complex duality: it combines the angelic tenderness of a sweet girl with the intrepid temperament of a woman made of steel who wants to ‘eat’ the world. Congratulations to Bvlgari and Alberto Morillas for creating such beautiful scents. Could they be the ‘fantastic twins’ of perfumery? Maybe. Fragrance: 9.5/10. Longevity: 8.5/10. Projection: 8/10. Versatility: 9.5/10. Price: 8/10.

If blue smelled, it would be BLV. You are special, a gift. Since I put you in my hands, I knew you’d also find a home in my heart. You’re not sensual, but so enigmatic that sometimes you can be warm, depending on who breathes you in. Ginger is your protagonist, always alongside bergamot; they never disappear, but then they’re accompanied by a garland of blue flowers and a frozen vanilla, adopted by sandalwood branches in winter. Slightly musky and spicy; you’re an extravagant flower sprouting from a frozen wave. BLV is an androgynous figure born of snow: topaz eyes, white lips. You approach and with your frozen hand you touch my heart, tattooing me with an armor of ice and fragile crystal. Now it depends on you: use it as armor or turn your warmth into a perfumed spring.

This fragrance was my first love at 16. I found it in a magazine and the sample fell in love with me; my cousin fell in love too, haha. It’s cold, clean, elegant, and sexy. It lasts a fortune. I use it and the next day it’s still on the clothes. I think it goes great in autumn and winter in cold climates, it projects better 🙂

I agree with Ariadna: BLV is an elegant perfume with a lot of personality. Ginger is the star here, and combined with the other notes, it produces a fresh, clean aroma, a persistent and cool floral (I can’t think of another word). Definitely, it’s a fragrance that doesn’t go unnoticed. BLV isn’t for innocent girls. It makes me think of a sophisticated woman who knows what she wants, intelligent, strong, even calculating.
