What a pleasant surprise, thanks to Taurien’s kindness. It’s an urban, contemporary fragrance with quite original combinations that break the rules. It feels like an inflated chypre, deconstructed, with just a minimal citrus note tying the classic conventions together. It’s an almost dreamlike fusion, created in one go, pure and novel, which fascinates me. It’s not experimental at all, but rather in relation to its name and concept. It might not please everyone or disappoint purists, but my heart beats faster when I wear it; that’s the feeling I’m looking for, even if at retail price I’ll probably never fit it in my wardrobe. From the start, it’s like wearing a high-quality classic men’s chypre with the extra sensation of being in an Arab bazaar, enjoying the atmosphere and spices. Cardamom, coffee, and tea are present, but not excessively warm; the drydown is creamier than earthy despite the patchouli and oakmoss. It’s not loud, but consistent and long-lasting, subtle yet persistent, with moderate projection. The next day, I can still detect it faintly, almost like a soft vanilla-tinged oriental scent with a small bitter chypre undertone. It’s always fun to embark on a journey of discovery: you’re very likely to find something interesting.
I absolutely loved it. It’s a reinvented chypre with spices and coffee, a very original and interesting result. Chypre Shot becomes wearable despite its intensity and elegance. Throughout its development, cardamom predominates. I feel very comfortable wearing it, although I sense it as slightly more masculine than feminine. The trail is excellent and persistent, and the longevity on me exceeds 12 hours. Scent 8/10, Longevity 10/10, Sillage 9/10, Value for money 8/10, Versatility 7/10, Packaging 6/10. Would I buy it again? Maybe.
