Extraordinary fragrance and totally woody. It’s dry wood with a delicious sweet touch. The opening doesn’t do the dry-down justice: it starts dry, but over time it’s like a chrysalis turning into a butterfly. Then the incense comes to the forefront, reminding me of the smell of candles or large tapers in Holy Week processions in Spain, with an incredible sweetness.
Woody Mood. A fragrance that hooks you from the first contact. The wood delivers on its promise. It starts slightly sweet before giving way to cedar, the star player. It’s not complex but has depth and nuances. I was drawn to the incense, very well crafted, subtle yet present. Upon learning the perfumer is Bertrand Duchaufour (creator of Avignon), I understood it better. It’s uncomplicated, friendly, easy to wear, round, and well-made. It doesn’t smell like anything else; it leans masculine but could look great on a woman too. Once I finish my vial of Pafory Woody Mood, it’s going on my wishlist. A must-try for wood lovers.
Woody Mood by Olfactive Studio. It’s good, but not unique; it reminds me a lot of the legendary Encre Noire or Lalique Extreme. It has herbal nuances, pine-like wood, and very well-made smoky incense that gives a pleasant smoke sensation. Perfect for autumn afternoons, coffee breaks, or quiet cold nights. It performs well, but there are excellent Western or Oriental options today without spending much, like Smokey Leather by Emir or Encre Noire. It’s good but pricey for my taste. Scent: 9.0, Projection: 2h, Longevity: 8h. Recommended if you don’t already own those others.
Be careful with this one: it’s an extremely woody fragrance that can even give you a headache. If you’re not a fan of woods, don’t even sniff it. It’s dry, scratchy, saffron-infused wood with no real evolution, very invasive on the nose. I don’t like it because the woods overpower everything, even the saffron becomes too intense and annoying.
Amazing scent, top-tier ingredients. The blend of woods and spices is elegant. It lasts about 5 hours; while the initial projection is short, I forgive it because I absolutely love the smell.
