Descripción

Memoir Woman by Amouage is a chypre fragrance for women. Launched in 2010, this composition was created by Daniel Maurel and Dorothée Piot. The top notes unfold with absinthe, cardamom, pink pepper, and mandarin; the heart reveals incense, clove, woody notes, rose, white flowers, pepper, and jasmine; while the base notes settle on leather, French labdanum, castoreum, styrax, oakmoss, and musk.

  • In one word: STRONG. Smells like an old perfume counter with aged scents, heavy on wood, incense, and concentrated spices. It’s not bad, it’s rich, but I see it more for men and I don’t sense any chypre; it’s more of a woody oriental. Don’t buy it blindly, not for the price (unless you’re rich) and not for the scent. Memoir is complex, delicious, woody, masculine, expensive, and best for cold climates.

  • Very resinous; I noticed it instantly on my skin with a medicinal touch. I asked the seller if it had opopanax and he didn’t have it. It reminded me of the incense in Gucci I but darker and muted, lacking that floral aspect it does have. It’s not a beast in terms of longevity or projection.

  • Strong spicy opening; clove and cardamom are the protagonists. Absinthe is also noticeable from the start and soon takes center stage. After a while, the spices calm down and give way to a darker phase with a classic floral bouquet in the background and green nuances from the absinthe. You can smell the incense without it being too smoky, and the leather. Here it feels more unisex. Then another phase arrives where the perfume becomes retro due to the animal castoreum note. It’s not very overwhelming, but it’s evident. The perfume feels dark with the floral bouquet giving just the right amount of sweetness. Finally, it ends like the previous phase but with the castoreum toned down. I see it for cold climates, and although it’s for women, a man can wear it without issue. Good projection and longevity. Personally, I liked it, but I wouldn’t buy it. It’s very changeable, with many nuances and high quality, but it doesn’t fill me up enough to keep it in my collection. Still, a pleasant experience with Memoir.

  • Strong spicy opening with clove and cardamom as the stars. You can detect the absinth at the start, which later takes center stage. After a while, the spices settle and a dark phase arrives with classic flowers, green nuances from the absinth, incense that isn’t too smoky, and leather. Here it feels more unisex. Then comes a retro phase due to the evident but not overwhelming castoreum animal note. It’s dark, with flowers that add sweetness. It ends like the previous phase but with less castoreum. I see it for cold weather; although it’s for women, a man could wear it. Good projection and longevity. I liked it, but I wouldn’t buy it. It’s changeable, full of nuances, and high quality, but it doesn’t fill me enough to keep in my collection. Still, a pleasant experience.

Poetically, I could say it smells like… ‘incense submerged in a glass of absinthe with cloves of nail placed near a leather jacket’ or some other crazy phrase… But for me, plainly and simply, it smells like a room freshener.

  • What a gem of a perfume. It has nothing to do with its male namesake; that one is truly for men, but this, despite saying ‘woman,’ is completely unisex. It’s an amber, warm, floral, deep, and exquisite composition that puts a smile on your face every time you smell it. I’ll keep ‘stealing’ it from my wife.

  • What a fantastic perfume. Nothing like its male namesake; this one is truly unisex despite the ‘Woman’ label. It’s an amber composition, warm, floral, deep, and exquisite that puts a smile on your face. I’m going to keep ‘stealing’ it from my wife.

  • Oh Amouage, how I love you. In this little bottle, I feel so much leather. The combination of notes is excellent. Typical of Amouage: the trail and longevity are everything you expect after spending over $300.

  • Oh Amouage, how I love you. In this little bottle, I feel the leather presence so strongly. The combination of notes is excellent. Typical of Amouage niche perfume: the trail and longevity are exactly what you expect after spending over $300.

  • Memoir Woman is a modern chypre-leather with a retro character, magnificent. It combines the elegance of a dark oriental with the sophistication of a spiced, smoky leather. A masterpiece with an opulent and mysterious personality. It opens with spicy, herbal, and citrus accords. Cardamom and absinth give it a warm yet fresh character. The heart is dark, woody, and spicy, dominated by incense that covers a sweet, narcotic floral bouquet (nard, jasmine, rose) over an extraordinary base of leathers, castoreum, amber, and balsamic notes. Warm, cozy, sexy, as dark as the bottle, elegant, and sophisticated. Excellent performance, lasting 10 hours on my skin. Moderate diffusion and sillage.

Memoir Woman is a modern chypre-leather with a retro character; it’s magnificent. It combines the elegance and sensuality of an exuberant, dark oriental with the sophistication of a spiced, smoky leather. A masterpiece. It has an opulent, complex, and mysterious personality. It opens with spicy, aromatic, herbal, and citrus accords. Cardamom and absinthe elevate the opening, giving it a warm, enveloping character with freshness and contrast. The heart is dark, woody, and spiced, dominated by incense that adds a resinous, sacred dimension, covering a sweet, narcotic floral bouquet (nard, jasmine, rose) leading to an extraordinary base where flowers intertwine with animal accords (leather, castoreum) in a symphony of amber and balsamic notes. Definitely a masterpiece. Warm, cozy, sexy, as dark as its bottle, elegant, and sophisticated. Excellent performance; on my skin, it lasts 10 hours. Moderate diffusion and sillage.

  • Memoir has a very strong opening. Upon spraying, spices and a smoky smell, incense, and leather that isn’t animalic and smells great. It’s opulent, classic, retro, taking you back to the 90s. It’s unisex; the spices give it a masculine touch. You can feel the quality; on skin it’s oily. Then, 15 or 20 minutes later, a white floral bouquet appears, adding to the leather and spices. At 6 hours, the moss comes out, and that’s when its chypre side shows. It stays like that for more than 12 hours; it’s a monster in longevity. If the body gets warm, the perfume blooms. It would be excellent in cool climates. I recommend not buying it blindly and trying a sample instead. In my case, I managed to get a decant that I plan to cherish, because around here in the third world, owning the full perfume is quite expensive.

  • Memoir opens very strong: spices and a smoky aroma, incense mixed with leather (not animalic, very pleasant). It’s opulent, classic, with a 90s retro vibe, unisex thanks to the spicy masculine touch. You can tell the quality; on skin, it’s oily. After 15 or 20 minutes, a bouquet of white florals emerges, adding depth to the leather and spices. By the 6-hour mark, the moss appears, revealing its chypre facet. It lasts over 12 hours; it’s a beast in terms of longevity. If your body heats up, the fragrance projects even more. This Amouage is excellent in cool climates. I recommend not buying blind—try it first. In my case, I got a decant to cherish because, in parts of the third world like mine, owning the full bottle is expensive! 🫰🏻

A blend of vintage Poison and Bijan Women, capturing that smoky dry-down of both: incense, oakmoss, a white floral like orange blossom (not the citrusy mandarin kind), jasmine, and a soapy scent reminiscent of wet cardboard or antique furniture. It’s a mix of old-school aromas. I already own Poison and Bijan; this one is softer, and the combination is unusual and mysterious. I recommend it if you loved those perfumes and incense-heavy scents. Great quality, longevity, and sillage. Perfect for autumn and winter.

  • Memoir Woman has immense character and a beautiful evolution. It’s the house’s classic incense blended with rose, wood, leather, labdanum, and spices. It reminds me of nothing else; a supremely original and attractive profile with outstanding performance and quality. I highly recommend it, but as with all Amouage masterpieces, you must try it first because it can be challenging. Though it’s an oriental, it’s quite wearable, elegant, and unique for those seeking something distinctive.

Brutal, original scent, smoky, projecting florals, long-lasting, a true luxury 👌

  • Memoir Woman has become my go-to fragrance for freezing days and misty nights, perfectly capturing the aura of those moments. I have a 2014 batch; I’m not sure if current batches smell the same, but this one is pure art. It’s ideal for dressing in all black with wine-colored lips. It smells like a beautiful forest witch or a vampire: dark, imposing, ancient yet modern. It hits the sweet spot—it’s not a timid scent or a sugary one; it demands a certain personality. I simply love it 🖤🥀🦇
