  Smoky Soul by @olfactivestudio is photorealistic hot steam from black tea rising from an old ceramic cup toward your face in the morning, unsweetened and unadulterated: the most vegetal, smoky, herbal, and rustic version possible. The opening has bitter citrus, a rough texture, high acidity, and smoke from the very first second; it almost feels fresh, but only at first. The black tea is a herbal, opaque accord, very wet and heavy, quite realistic, deriving its power and moisture from osmanthus, which is nearly the absolute protagonist from dark sensations to the thick atmospheric base. If you’re a tea fan like me, it’s one of the most realistic and complex approaches on the market, with a persistent trail, great projection, and longevity; this Smoky Soul is bold and daring, as few tea-based scents are.

  Works great on a guy, but on my skin it’s a disaster. Smells like strong black tea, steam, and maximum smoke. It feels dry and dark; maybe it would work differently on another woman’s skin, but it just doesn’t work for me. As it evolves, it softens and gains a marine touch, but it’s still too heavy for a woman. I barely notice the notes because the smoke drowns everything out. It would suit a man in cold weather at night; during the day, it feels overwhelming.
