Solo Loewe Ella by Loewe

I’ve read several reviews and saw people didn’t like it much, which surprises me. Since I got a small bottle in 2021, I can’t stop wearing it. It wraps me in a wave of sweetness without being cloying; it has something tropical, something like sunset, something like a summer night looking at the sea. Best of all, it works day or night, in winter or summer, in the sun but even better in the rain, and it smells even better after a shower. A must-have.

It starts as a citrus scent that dries down to something floral and fruity. I find it subtle and elegant, perfect for warm weather; it’s vibrant and cheerful. The trail isn’t very long and the longevity is moderate, about 4 to 5 hours on my skin. The base woods give it depth without weighing it down or making it feel masculine. It sounds unisex to me.

I bought this blindly based on the notes and its reputation among experts. I wear it mostly in autumn, perhaps because that exquisite fruity sweetness sometimes suffocates me in enclosed spaces. It’s elegant, intense, and lasts forever; the notes blend perfectly, transitioning from fruity to a floral phase with an elegant amber touch. It’s the older sibling of Boucheron’s Quatre, which I own and prefer for spring-summer. I love it, but I won’t buy it again due to the reformulation in the elongated bottle and how hard it is to find here. I’ll enjoy it until the last drop.

I’ve used several bottles of Solo Ella, a fragrance that doesn’t seem to have been a huge hit for Loewe, though I might be wrong. It seems expensive for what it is: a simple scent, like shampoo, in an even simpler bottle. But since I love it and it’s rare for a perfume to make me feel this way, I’ve paid its high price religiously, albeit with pain. Now I have a small bottle of the original for special occasions and an equivalent from Artisanal Scents called Benisa, which is very well done, for daily wear. It was a relief to find it; of all the perfumes I own, this is the one that has received the most positive comments, it’s loved by many people. Personally, I haven’t found a situation where it doesn’t fit: it has freshness to feel relaxed and clean in casual environments even with heat, but also body and sweetness for formal and elegant situations in the cold. At first, I made the mistake of spraying it heavily because I thought it didn’t last and its sillage was poor, but it’s true that when my nose can no longer perceive it, someone always says it smells delicious, even hours later, so now I’m more moderate. It’s a shame they changed the bottle; the old one was a thousand times prettier, and things like that help avoid buying equivalents (ask Mugler and his beautiful star from Angel de Cristal by Lalique, which makes the moment of applying perfume magical). Regarding the Solo Ella ad, whose name has appeal as a direct adaptation of Solo for Men, it was a bit bland: I barely remember it was black and white and passed by without making an impression. So with the marketing blunders they’ve made, it’s a miracle it’s still selling, or rather: all the credit goes to the perfume itself, which is a love.

Do you know Anian green fabric softener? Well, this is that made into perfume. It’s a more feminine twist on Earth, with worse longevity but tremendously pleasant, fruity, and floral. Moderate projection for 3 hours, then skin scent for another maximum 3. Another gift where you surely won’t go wrong. This one is worth it for the price, but if it’s in a gift set, 93€ for a case with the 100 ml bottle and two 10 ml samples each, whereas alone it’s 97€ for 100 ml.

A exquisite and addictive fragrance that surprised me for being cheerful and vibrant, not for being original. It boils down to bitter orange, jasmine, and amber. The woods aren’t the main focus, making it an excellent all-season choice, though it might not shine as much in winter.

I discovered it by chance at a sample station and think it’s perfect for spring and summer, though it works year-round as a wildcard. Very fruity but not childish. I feel elegant and clean wearing it, and I reapply throughout the day because after a few hours, the scent becomes more subtle to those around me, but I don’t mind carrying a decant in my bag. I hope to always have it, even in a small size, once I finish my 50 ml bottle.

I think this is my first Loewe perfume, and I really like it. It’s soft, simple, fruity, and very versatile. I see it as perfect for everyday wear, any season, and even formal dinners or celebrations since it fits in anywhere. You can buy it blind with total confidence. Even if it doesn’t seem like much, it’s very wearable—not invasive, not overwhelming, and not heavy-handed.

You can smell it for the first few hours; it doesn’t smell bad, but for lower prices, there are much more interesting options. The initial burst is a bit alcoholic, then it smells like freshly washed hair, but nothing else.

Sometimes I stop noticing it and think it’s faded, but people around me definitely do. I’ve loved both this and its EDT so much—the EDT is beautiful. If you’re into sweet perfumes, you might prefer the EDT over the EDP. Worth having both; they’re high quality.

Orange is my favorite note, and it works great on my skin here. It’s cheerful and comforting, with a sophisticated and relaxing touch in the dry-down. The trail is moderate, longevity is good, and it lasts longer on clothes. Very enjoyable.

What a pleasant scent! It smells so much like peach! I bought the 30 ml version for a trip and can’t help but want a bigger one. It’s sweet without being cloying. Smell before you buy, though. The opening is strong with orange, but once dried down, the scent is divine. I’d use it all year round.
