Well, as so many others have said. Scent with Aventus DNA. I see it as slightly less smoky with more earthy nuances due to the moss in the dry down; I perceive quality ingredients, but… and here comes the big catch: performance well below expectations, scarce 4 hours with just enough projection. Plus, it has a tremendous markup; the 100ml exceeds 100 euros. I managed to get a black bottle with a 2018 batch, thinking its longevity would be greater. Am I disappointed? No, because it’s my fault for letting myself be swept away once again by all the fanfare around a certain fragrance. It smells deadly, but it should last longer. That said, it’s still a third cheaper than Creed.
I haven’t smelled Aventus in over a year, so I don’t know the early formulations, but it was a perfume that didn’t impress me too much, neither the original nor some of its inspirations like Zara Vibrant Leather or Montblanc Legend; in contrast, this one caught my attention, and I don’t rule out a future purchase. Loewe Esencia EDP is cleaner, drier, and woodier, giving it a distinct character despite the undeniable resemblance; I doubt the listed notes are the only ones because it feels much more complex. I’ve seen complaints in several reviews about its longevity, but it lasted me more than 8 hours with moderate projection.
I wore AVENTUS on the left arm and Loewe Esencia EDP on the right, and I can say Loewe is denser, longer-lasting, and less smoky pineapple at the opening. In Loewe, all the notes play in unison, giving you that orchestral touch you enjoy without waiting for it to evolve, feeling like a powerful and tasty scent, whereas AVENTUS is more airy and citrusy in its opening, more stepped, and the mossy and amber bases seem to need body heat to be felt. They are different, though they share the same magic in the base, which is their degree of mimicry with the coriander-like and fruity body scent in many cases. It’s a union of scents that makes the wearer feel the aroma is somewhat familiar and their own, making them truly enjoyable to wear. The big difference is that AVENTUS, although it’s a Chypre, feels more citrusy and acidic than Loewe, which in its case is more fruity and pinkish. Personally, I think the great resemblance lies in the heart and base notes. Both are all-terrain, and if they had the same price, it would depend on the occasion. In summer and spring in the morning, I’d use AVENTUS, and in the afternoons and autumn/winter, Loewe. But if there were a fire in my house, I’d save LOEWE without thinking twice because I appreciate the bases more than AVENTUS’s smoky pineapple opening, which Loewe doesn’t have but compensates with a much richer heart and base than AVENTUS.
What a great fragrance; it was love at first sniff. It’s simple but sophisticated, has a discreet trail, and isn’t piercing at all. I compared it with the EDT, and there’s no comparison. Perfect cologne for any occasion; you won’t regret having it, even if you buy it blind. A must-have.
Just bought it and am testing it. Similar profile to Aventus? Yes. Clone? No. Although I don’t think it has to do with the notes Fragrantica declares. It comes to my mind as lemon skin with incense, even though it’s not declared… it has it, and I think it will perform well. Good buy if you want something similar to Aventus but more economical. From my point of view, it doesn’t seem like a clone, but it’s very rich.
My experience is with the round black bottle, which I acquired recently. I’ve tried several Aventus clones like Zara Vibrant Leather, Club de Nuit Intense, and Montblanc Explorer. I always reached the same conclusion: they either smelled like an older person, had poor longevity, or were very synthetic. It’s true that this perfume doesn’t aim to be a 100% clone; it resembles it quite a bit, especially at the start, though it presents differences later. It’s a fresh, woody, and elegant fragrance, but with a playful touch, which in my opinion allows a younger audience, from age 22, to wear it. The scent is incredible; it smells great, and its longevity and projection are surprisingly good for being fresh. I think it can be worn all year round, although it might not perform as well in winter as in other seasons. However, I consider it still appropriate for colder climates. In summary, I’d recommend it if you’re looking for something similar to Aventus, cheaper, with better performance, and with a formal yet playful touch.
As is repeated endlessly and everyone knows, Loewe Esencia is an inspiration for Aventus, and that’s why we have it. Personally, I’m interested in having a quality perfume with the Aventus DNA without spending $400. That’s exactly what Esencia offers, with its nuances, but come on, who in the world is going to think it doesn’t have as much pineapple or smokiness as Creed? They are broadly similar, and that’s all that matters. It doesn’t declare citrus, which is curious because I feel quite citrusy at the start, leaving the spotlight to lavender and vetiver later. I’ve always thought there’s a point of contact between Aventus and Terre d’Hermes, and I think in Esencia that contact is greater, due to a protagonist vetiver. It’s a fresh, versatile composition for daily use and any occasion. The bottle I have has a discreet performance, but superior to Creed’s current messes. It’s a classic profile where every perfume lover falls, and falling for Esencia seems like an excellent option.
Loewe’s fault for confusing things with the names; you don’t even know what you’re buying.
I had it and regret selling it, especially given the prices this brand has in my country. It has an undeniable resemblance to Creed Aventus, and I even think it’s superior. Its performance is acceptable, it causes some fatigue, but if you ask, people notice. The notes aren’t what’s declared on this page; what I do feel is a heavy load of lavender and musk in the dry down, with citrus and pineapple in the opening. A very good proposal from Loewe, though nothing original. Reviewing it out of nostalgia.
Bestial! I absolutely love it and wear it daily. Forget the whole ‘it smells like Creed Aventus’ thing; I haven’t even tried the original. What I do know is that seeing my little green rectangular bottle at home makes me drool just thinking about spraying it on. I’ve used Club de Nuit Intense Man by Armaf (already gifted it away), and Esencia EDP plays in a completely different league—superior. It evokes different sensations, smells better to my friends and at work. It’s more harmonious, higher quality, subtle, and attractive. The notes are a delight; it’s a fragrance with its own identity, on par with ‘God’ by 7 Cobalt. Sparkling rich citrus opening, does it smell like pineapple? No, it softens but stays luminous (the lavender is great), with good projection. It dries down slowly, evolving into a very pleasant mossy tone, lasting 7-8 hours, with enjoyable bursts for the first 3 hours. Very versatile for all year-round except extreme heat, more of a daytime scent. Is it worth it? Yes, for me. I’d rather pay a bit more for the bottle (without going into niche territory) when the scent convinces me 100%. It’s quality, and the performance is solid. I don’t do the math on those extra 20 or 30 euros if I use it for months with more pleasure and feel like I smell better (not because of an exact clone, but because it’s well-constructed). I feel a million times better with Esencia EDP. I was never comfortable with CDNIM by Armaf; it seemed strident, synthetic, and too much of a ‘clone’, and it’s not that cheap anyway. The controversy about Loewe being inspired by Creed doesn’t matter to me; I don’t buy perfumes based on brand strategies, I test them on my skin. Try it a couple of times properly, and if it fits, go for it. (Edited 6/02/2024: After wearing it to work for days, at the 8th/9th hour, colleagues noticed my trail without me saying anything… the performance is acceptable, but I value the scent more).
I fully subscribe to Ander 333’s review. I won’t repeat anything because everything the other guy says is literally true; it’s flawless, sincere, clear, and direct, which is rare. I’ll just add that I was torn between buying Loewe Esencia EDP and Loewe 7 Cobalt. Both are amazing, fresh, and generate comfort from the first moment, giving a sense of cleanliness and the extra luxury of enjoying every step on the street with that burst of fragrance. After three tests on different wrists, I have to say that IN MY SKIN AND IN MY CASE, Loewe Esencia EDP completely crushed 7 Cobalt. The EDP is ultra-citrusy and refreshing, absolutely delicious due to the naturalness of its notes, while 7C is spicier, softly smoky, and spiced. After two hours, 7C stays more linear, whereas the evolution of the EDP into moss and woods, combined with lavender, moss, and something darker (maybe vetiver), adds a soft lemon cookie scent that is SIMPLY DELICIOUS, with more body. Comparing it to cheaper alternatives is the difference between wearing a cheap jacket that covers a need or, for just a bit more, treating yourself to the pleasure of dressing in comfort, presence, and gentlemanly style. I haven’t tested Aventus (EDIT: I HAVE NOW, AND IT’S A MATCH, WITH ONLY TWO DIFFERENCES: A) ESSENCE EDP IS A LITTLE MORE LEMONY WHILE AVENTUS IS A BIT CREAMIER DUE TO THE AMBERGRIS, AND B) AVENTUS LASTS ABOUT 3 HOURS LESS. I SUPPOSE IT DEPENDS ON THE BATCH), so I can’t say much about it; but I’ve seen videos where this perfume wins on projection in every case, because recent batches of Creed seem like intense colognes without pineapple, smoke, or cedar, lasting only about 3 hours; meanwhile, Loewe Esencia EDP lasts 24h on my skin and projects for about 6h. On clothes, I don’t even count. With that performance and seeing updated reviews for Aventus, at 1/3 the price… Let’s stop counting. On the other hand, I have tested Creed Green Irish Tweed, and it seems people idolize Creed. Maybe those with old batches have magnificent scent and performance; but currently, if it was ever worthy of praise, I think the obsession with Aventus and GIT from Creed is excessive, especially when recent batches seem lacking. Still, we must respect others’ opinions; PERSONALLY, I think paying 300 bucks for each Creed fragrance plays into the self-suggestion that it’s excellent due to its prohibitive price, and once bought, the self-conviction that it was worth it; a sort of ‘itchy skin, but I like the itch’. I’m not a Loewe agent, nor do I get a commission for tearing into Creed; the new LE Essence Elixir has prices that seem insane to me, and I HATE IT; I don’t like it AT ALL. If you’re willing to pay for it and like it, enjoy it, that’s fine; tastes vary. All said, without a doubt, Loewe Esencia EDP is a treat.
My partner’s signature scent. Love at first sniff, a total crush. There are three versions (EDT, EDP, and Elixir), and for me, the clear winner is this one, the EDP. I saw the notes and was blown away: I’m obsessed with its slightly green pineapple scent with a hint of smoke, yet it only has moss and lavender. To me, it’s the perfect men’s fragrance for absolutely everything. It feels elegant and seductive, fresh yet intense and aromatic. If I had to pick three out of all my partner’s scents, this is a safe bet. It’s delicious, lasts forever on skin, and projects enough to fill large rooms. On clothes, the scent lasts for days. Longevity: 8/10, Sillage: 9/10, Projection: 9/10.
Starts very citrusy, fruity, and acidic. Then moves into a brutal aromatic phase with a cocktail of herbs: hyssop, tarragon, thyme, rosemary, basil, and some lavender. I also detect cypress, moss, dry earth, and maybe root. It finishes with a sweet, pleasant lavender scent. Longevity is 4 hours plus 2 more on clothes, though after switching jobs and working 8 hours, people still notice it. Edit: Everyone absolutely loves it. Compliments everywhere, and it’s so accessible that several coworkers bought it and wore it until it started driving me crazy. Too bad I can’t even smell it now; objectively, it’s a brutal perfume. When I wrote my review, I didn’t want to mention the elephant in the room because everyone already does, but they ARE IDENTICAL and I can’t tell them apart.
I managed to grab an old batch with the black bottle, and it’s nuclear.
Smells great, no doubt. But if you already own other scents that smell like Aventus, I’m not sure it’s worth it since they’re very similar. One plus is that you can tell the ingredients are natural, unlike Club de Nuit Intense, which smells synthetic. Overall, it’s a really good fragrance. 7/10.
I picked up an old batch at Douglas and it smells spectacular, with very notable sillage and longevity. If you have the chance to get an old bottle like this, do it; the quality is brutal and it smells very natural. It’s similar to Mont Blanc Explorer, but this is much less synthetic and more striking. I recommend it 100%, it’s great.
I discovered the DNA of Aventus with Vibrant Leather and Montblanc Explorer, but never actually bought them. One day at work, someone sprayed a perfume behind me; the moment it touched my nose, I recognized the DNA, but it felt much finer and higher quality than what I had. I turned around to catch the famous Creed bottle and say ‘this is what real Aventus smells like’… and to my surprise, I found a black Loewe bottle, the house that until then had my favorite perfume. The guy smelled like that all day. Seriously, the projection and longevity were insane. Fine and elegant aroma, a much more natural and refined version than the clones I’d tried. Citrusy, sweet, smoky, herbal… I had to buy it and that’s what I did. Mine is the square bottle with 10ml decants and 7 Cobalt. If my memory serves me right, mine is smokier, citrusy in the opening, and less sweet. It lasts and projects less, but it’s still very high quality, smells great, and compared to the real Aventus, I barely notice a difference. I imagine there was a reformulation or there’s a lot of variation between batches. To me, it’s the bomb, people love it, and it’s wonderful to access a version with quality ingredients that doesn’t vanish in seconds. For 55 euros at Primor… a total hit.
A spectacular perfume. Masculine, with presence, gravitas, and elegance. It lasts incredibly long; both the opening and dry down are exquisite. The notes are noticeable all day. Totally spectacular.
I’m a sub-fan who got addicted to Aventus because of its clones; I was furious to lose my love for a scent profile that wear-and-tear ruined. This is a quality alternative I really like. Loewe usually charges a lot, but if you catch a good deal, it’s not a bad idea to drop a few euros. It’s the only clone of that profile I can stand and actually enjoy.
Clearly an Aventus clone at a gold price. If you’re looking for better performance, it’s worth it, but if you don’t apply generously, it’ll fade off your skin in no time.
The fragrance is very rich and versatile; it’s earthy in the drydown and a bit spicier in the opening… It’s like a version of AVENTUS without being so fruity and citrusy. In hot and humid weather, like summer in Mexico, it lasts little: 3 to 4 hours. In cold weather, performance improves to 6-7 hours.
It’s a very good perfume. Yes, it imitates Creed Aventus very well without being as fruity (in Aventus you can feel quite red apple notes at times). The ‘but’ is that, while it projects well in the opening, after a few minutes you barely feel it anymore; it’s drying down and feeling very close to the skin at all times. Pity because it’s a perfume I like a lot, but for the price and the terrible performance it has, it’s not worth it. I wouldn’t mind replicating it if this had a price like conventional designer brands. But this is sold at ultra-luxury or niche brand prices, and the quality isn’t that high and its performance is terrible. I remember there was a man at the gym using this perfume but from the famous black bottle, and he left a potent and pleasant smell all over the locker room and wherever he went, because it lasted quite a bit. This square version has nothing good to offer due to its mediocre performance and its stupidly prohibitive price. Regrettable.
As Nanox7 said, it doesn’t last absolutely nothing!!! The worst blind buy I’ve ever made…
I’m just going to share 2 or 3 experiences I’ve had with this perfume. The smell is unmistakable when someone wears it; due to my job, I’m with many different people every day and I always detect the scent very noticeably, blending among the smells of many others. This situation has happened to me three times in the last two months, and I tell you that to this day the smell of the rectangular bottle is still very potent. I’m convinced it causes olfactory fatigue, but it has good duration and projection, I tell you it does.
Guys… this fragrance is one of those that leaves trails at times. Sometimes you feel it light, then very potent, and other times it seems you smell nothing. I don’t know if it causes olfactory fatigue. It happened to me with Cobalt… and in the end it did smell, and quite a bit. With Esencia EDP it could be a similar case. Finally, ask around. What to say about the scent… exquisite, balanced, quality without exaggerating the price, super masculine… maybe it took me a little while to get used to that mossy touch at first, but without a doubt it leaves a rich trail. Winner fragrance 100%.
Extremely correct perfume; I don’t classify it as an inspiration since it’s an almost exact clone of the scent everyone tries to emulate. Starting from that, this perfume has become my favorite within the fruity cypresses, well above Hacivat, Cedrat Boise, the same Creed, and therefore its cheaper variants. I’m in love with Club de Nuit, I’ll definitely keep it, but this perfume has everything I love about Club de Nuit, but without that harsh artificial note it has. It’s a masculine scent, with a balance between fruity and smoky, not overwhelming, and with a decent duration. Out of all the inspirations and clones that exist, for me this Loewe is the best there is. I got it on Fragrancenet for about $120; I was afraid it might be a copy, but upon trying it, the same scent and quality confirmed it’s original. Love this perfume! ♥
It’s a very rich scent, very similar to Armaf’s Club de Nuit in the drydown, but without that super ‘Sayayin’ mode of Armaf. 😂 It has good performance: about two hours on skin and double on clothes. Although it’s rich, I don’t recommend buying blindly, especially if you don’t like earthy tones. This perfume exemplifies a damp, cold forest. Recommended! 🕉️
I feel like the rebellious opinion, but after several tries… it doesn’t measure up to Aventus. I partly agree with the previous comment: it’s more like Armaf’s Club de Nuit, but without its performance (neither duration nor projection), which I would directly describe as poor. Edit to emphasize the poor performance, because I see comments saying it performs better than Aventus (which I won’t deny, I know Aventus had batches with very poor performance, though mine, which was one of the shortest-lived, lasted longer than this Loewe one). But for them to say it lasts less than Hacivat… I’m sorry, I feel like whoever says that was sold a counterfeit, because Hacivat is a beast and it’s laughable to compare it with Esencia. At 6 hours, you have to press your nose against your skin to still feel it. That said, while the previous user says it dries down similar to Armaf, to me it smells much more like Club de Nuit (EDT version) in the opening than Aventus; it doesn’t have that enchanting natural opening that Aventus has, for all they say it does. The drydown is quite different, at least on my skin. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth the over $100 asked for 100ml. Better buy the original Creed: yes, it’ll cost double, but at least you’ll feel a quality fragrance (and according to the latest 2024 batches, Aventus has recovered some of its performance from its ‘dark’ era). If you don’t want to spend that much and just want a clone, look at Armaf, Al Haramain, Afnan, or others ranging between $20 and $40.
This mother smells like Zote soap, gross.
I haven’t tried Creed Aventus because, here in Montevideo, it doesn’t seem logical to spend 30,000 pesos (about $673) on a perfume. That’s my opinion; if anyone takes it as heresy, forgive me. I own the Loewe Esencia EDP, batch 01069137 from January 2016. Excellent fragrance! It has personality, is versatile, woody, and fruity; I’ve gotten tons of compliments and recommend it 100%. I wore it in summer during the day and it lasted about 5 or 6 hours, projecting well for the first 2.5 hours. But in autumn, with temperatures around 15-16 degrees, it lasted over 10 hours, launching in bursts. It’s strange: at first you smell nothing, don’t sense its aroma, and then suddenly it launches bursts and stays there. In air conditioning or enclosed spaces, it lasts a long time. Nowadays, fragrances from renowned brands are sold, and people are happy if they last 5 or 6 hours after oxidizing for 4 or 5 months. I’m very happy with my Loewe Esencia EDP; I’m just sharing this so someone can be guided by my experience. Thanks everyone!
Maybe my favorite. People say it’s in the style of Aventus, Zara Vibrant Leather, etc… But while it has that DNA, to me, it feels deeper and more complex. Plus, despite what they say, it definitely carries a lot of classic Loewe Essence. I own both, and they’re both excellent. The original predates Aventus, so I doubt this is a clone. To start, it lacks pineapple and lemon, which are essential in Aventus or its clones. I love it. It’s an addictive scent, powerful but not intrusive. Elegant, yet not classic. A great underrated gem; better if it stays this way, so it doesn’t become a typical mass-market staple.
Update after extended wear: It could be a green flanker of Aventus, but for me, it surpasses it in quality and performance. While they share an olfactive family, this is deeper, less harsh, and more herbal than fruity. The olfactive pyramid is very incomplete; the only official notes are basil, red pepper, and tarragon. Upon spraying, instead of pineapple, you get basil and pepper. As it dries down, they become more similar, but this always leans green with present basil, moss, and earthy elements, whereas Aventus is more woody and smoky. Incredible performance for an EDP. Projection is great for the first 2 hours, but the surprising part is the throw at 6-8 hours when you think it’s faded. It lasts 12 hours on skin easily, while Aventus rarely goes past 8 for me. This is a modernization of the original essence (pre-dating Aventus), not a clone. Clones would kill to have half this quality. A 10/10 for me.
Once you try Rasasi Zebra, you won’t need to spend more on a quality Aventus clone.
First things first, Loewe Essence came out 20 years before Creed Aventus. I just started wearing the EDP and have to say, it’s a beast. Most fragrances in this style last a decent amount of time for me, but Loewe is incredible. I think it depends on the temperature; today it was around 25°C.
It smells great, but it’s not for me. It has a very old-school scent.
To start, my Essence EDP is original, not a knockoff. It was my Christmas gift over 5 years ago and still performs amazingly, up to 8 hours, with surprise bursts when you think it’s gone. You can tell the ingredients are top-tier, nothing synthetic. It’s a reinterpretation of the original Essence from 20 years ago; neither Aventus nor Zara clones come close. They share that fruity (pineapple) touch, but here there’s real elegance, greener as the bottle suggests. The evolution isn’t flat; it has nuances and variations thanks to ingredients not on the official list. It’s definitely a great perfume, not for daily wear, but for special occasions where you dress up. Because if perfume is also an accessory.
Definitely THE PERFUME (at least for me). It smells like a forest after rain, pure tranquility and freshness. I love it for its green notes. At the start, there’s a slightly sharp citrus touch that lasts about 10 minutes, then it evolves into something addictive, serious, and mature. I don’t recommend buying it blindly; it’s for men 30 and up, nothing youthful.
One of the most elegant and well-executed interpretations of the Creed Aventus DNA. Bergamot with pineapple undertones, sitting on a noticeable moss base from the very start. Perfect for work or when you want a touch of sophistication. Moderate sillage; nothing loud trying to steal the spotlight. Lasts 7-8 hours on skin. Priced around €130 in stores, but you can find it under €100 with deals or by hunting for the best price on reliable sites. Everyone will love it, especially those over 30.
How can it be this good? It’s not an Aventus copy, but an upgrade for lovers of green-earthy scents. It’s the richest aroma with maximum versatility. It works perfectly at any time and for every occasion.
Loewe is an underrated brand with otherworldly aromatic quality. This fragrance is their crown jewel, surpassing even their own hits like 7 Cobalt or Solo Cedro. While some say it’s DNA Aventus, this one crushes it in quality and projection. It’s denser, greener, and evokes an autumn forest. Elegant and bold, it elevates any outfit. It creates lasting olfactory memories and everyone loves it. Perfect for the office or formal events. Performance 9, Quality 10, Originality 7, Versatility 9. A true gem.
