This Wood for Him is nothing more than a reformulation of the original He Wood, but lighter, fresher, and with less projection. Unfortunately, I prefer its traditional version; it seems like a waste for Euroitalia to raise the price for something that only aims to profit from the bottle’s design, because when it comes to composition, it leaves a lot to be desired. I don’t understand how Dsquared2, just like Lolita Lempicka with Au Masculine and the current Lempicka Homme, releases relaunches of poor quality compared to their predecessors.
Wood for Him by Dsquared2 is a woody, fresh, and super easy-to-wear fragrance. It opens with a fruity-citrusy-sweet touch that briefly reminded me of Invictus, but quickly shifts to a woody profile featuring vetiver and amber (ambroxan), all with a fresh vibe thanks to the violet leaves and some fresh spices. That’s when it becomes very wearable. From then on, it doesn’t evolve further. For me, it’s an all-season scent suitable for any age and casual situations like going to the movies or weekend outings. It lasted about 10 hours on my skin, though with low projection. I’ve enjoyed its aroma and believe it’s made for a mass appeal.

A blind buy; it’s a fragrance quite hard to find. Being determined to buy a perfume and being on a trip, I opted for this one since it wasn’t available in my country. The moment I applied it, it was love at first sight: at first, it reminded me of some other generic citrus and wood fragrance, but gradually it takes another course. A huge quality citrus explosion that, as it develops, reveals a classic, ozonic, and earthy vetiver… The magic lies in those violets with vetiver; they are the essence of this perfume. While there are hundreds with these notes, the quality allows you to distinguish them and say this is a delight and this is not. In this case, it’s an olfactory pleasure, quite classic, focused on decades past, but with a modern spark that makes it wearable by a wide ethereal margin. An inexplicable perfume, with a truly UNIQUE aroma; to give you an idea, it has that touch of classic Armani Pour Homme, with that noble air but completely unique. In this case, for me, it’s a Masterpiece. Nothing more to add.

Fresh and balanced opening. After that, you perceive a slight ginger tickle, but in essence, it’s pure violet and wood. Very rich fragrance and super soft if compared to the Green version. Since its trail isn’t wide, I consider it more convenient for personal enjoyment, especially if you like the violet note 🙂
Balanced citrus opening. Then you notice a slight ginger heat, but overall it’s pure violet and wood. Very rich and super soft compared to the green version. Since its trail isn’t wide, I consider it better for personal enjoyment, especially if you like violet 🙂
Those violet and sweet wood notes without being overpowering. I love the violet.
I bought it based on YouTube reviews, thinking it would be citrusy, but it smells like a green, wet forest, as if it had just rained. Each wood note comes through; it has a bit of citrus but isn’t fresh, it’s heavy. With its ozonic notes, the perfume is invasive. It’s for late autumn; spraying too much and blinding yourself olfactorily would be terrible. It also reminds me of a clothing store filled with wood and those mall aerosols of today.
Very good fragrance. Smells like woody Mercedes Benz or Encre Noire Sport with violets. It’s a nice scent: pleasant, with a clean impression. Plus, without even opening the bottle: the presentation is top-notch, amber bottle, heavy, with a magnetic cap.
I bought it blind expecting a very marked woody scent, since the bottle color and name suggested so much; but I found woody notes, yes, but not so marked, yes, very soapy, fresh, and slightly powdery. The truth is, it wasn’t what I was looking for in my collection, but I liked it a lot, quite a lot, because it doesn’t resemble anything I’ve smelled before. What you get in the opening is what stays almost the whole time, and there’s little evolution of the notes, but it’s enough for everyone to like it. I can’t see anyone who wouldn’t like this soapy, very clean (I suppose it’s the violet) and slightly woody scent. The truth is, very little citrus. Projection and longevity are medium/high; I’d say you can smell it for 4 to 6 hours, obviously depending on the weather and everyone’s skin.
I bought it blind, thinking it would be a strong woody scent based on the bottle and name; but it does have woods, just not as prominent. Instead, it’s very soapy, fresh, and slightly powdery. It wasn’t what I was looking for, but I loved it; it smells different from everything I’ve heard. The opening stays almost the entire time, little evolution, but enough for everyone to like it: soapy scent, very clean (I guess that’s the violet), and a touch of wood. Very little citrus. Projection and longevity are medium/high; I’d say 4 to 6 hours is noticeable, depending on the weather and skin.
I don’t own it. I tested it on skin once and liked it. The opening is very lively with lemon, quite fresh. As it dries down, the citrus blends with a bit of heat (cardamom and ginger), and the violets are noticeable. I can’t clearly identify the wood. Smells good for the office, but for everyday wear, I find it boring, and for night outs or special events, not even remotely. I liked it, but I think it’s dispensable. I wouldn’t buy it even on sale. 6/10.
Tested with a 1ml sample, I can’t guarantee the performance, but it smells more expensive than it costs (~50€ for 100ml). Fresh and clean opening with citrus that doesn’t stand out. Then it turns earthy and spicy, leaving a sweet, ambered woody base. Not my style, but for lovers of earthy and woody scents, it’s a delight. Edit: It doesn’t remind me of Prada Luna Rossa.
Tested from a 1ml sample, so I can’t draw many conclusions about performance, but its aroma has left a good impression on me since it feels more expensive than it costs (~50€ for 100ml). A fairly fresh and clean opening where citrus are noticeable but none stand out in particular. It becomes more earthy and spicy as it dries down, preparing us for a sweet, woody, and amberous base. It’s not the style of perfume I usually wear, but for lovers of earthy woody scents, this has to be a delight. Edit: I don’t find it similar to Prada Luna Rossa.
With the existence of ‘He Wood’ (2007) and ‘Original Wood’ (2022), this one seems to smell like used teak from a furniture store. It’s not bad, depends on your taste, but it definitely reminds me of that.
Clean, neat, and proper; although it says violets, it smells more like geranium.
