  Wild Leather embraces the wearer from the very first second glowing with an oriental touch that makes it incredibly sensual. Unlike the usual sweet leathers this one is warm and cozy like a real hug. The blend of leather and vanilla intertwines with spices that awaken the senses steering clear of typical gourmand vibes: saffron black pepper thyme patchouli and gaiac wood hit the nose immediately. But it’s not wild; it’s tamed which is great because YSL is trying to make leather more pleasant and accessible for everyone. The vanilla is used with restraint and doesn’t overpower the leather. It’s a great entry-level fragrance for anyone wanting to try this note perfect for those seeking a moderate soft yet noble leather. It starts fresh and spicy thanks to some floral notes. Definitely unisex—the leather doesn’t dominate it fits perfectly and evokes the feeling of a fine leather bag or department store gloves with a subtle luxury touch that isn’t pretentious. I see it on both women and men though less on younger folks; for me it lacked a bit of edge. In my case the licorice note is barely noticeable. Longevity and sillage are more than acceptable; it lasts all day on a t-shirt. Maybe YSL came a bit late to this type of fragrance as it’s nothing new and there are comparable options like some from Lattafa or Scentstory 24 Gold (without the oud) that follow a similar path and are much cheaper.
