  • Broken Nose

It has one of the best openings I’ve ever smelled, but it falls apart quickly and starts smelling increasingly weird, like body odor. I’m not sure if it’s the florals, the vetiver, or both, but it just doesn’t smell good. It’s not something you’d have to wash off with soap, but I simply don’t like it. The drydown isn’t bad, but you have to wait many hours for it, and it’s not worth it.

It has one of the best openings I’ve ever smelled, but it deteriorates quickly and starts smelling weird, like body odor—I’m not sure if it’s the flowers or the vetiver. It’s not a pleasant scent; you have to like it, it’s not something you’d want to wash off with soap, but I don’t like it. The drydown isn’t entirely bad, but you have to wait many hours for that, and it’s not worth it.

  • It’s a clean, fresh, and inoffensive vetiver—serene. The lavender gives a soapy, polished impression, like right after a shower. Although it has a lush olfactory pyramid, it smells quite simple and flat, always correct but a bit dull, which isn’t necessarily bad. It reminds me of Creed’s Original Vetiver, allowing for differences, since this one replicates those green and earthy spaces in a more modest and synthetic way. Its projection and trail are deficient, but longevity is moderate. It’s more satisfying due to its versatility; it adapts well to any seasonal use and situation, as long as you’re not looking to stand out.

  • I have the 120ml bottle. It opens fresh with clove, bergamot, and jasmine. Definitely, it’s the vetiver I’ve disliked the most.

  • I have the 120ml bottle. It has a fresh opening with notes of clove, bergamot, and jasmine. Definitely the vetiver fragrance I like the least.

The citrus opening is pleasant, though not too natural, with a weird note I think is sarsaparilla and some lavender giving it a clean vibe. After three hours, the trail drops and I notice indistinct florals without detecting the clove. By six hours, it’s very skin-scented with very soft musk and vetiver. It’s the poorest of this type I’ve tried, the cheapest on the market at $28, which makes the discontinuation of Puig even more regrettable; Puig is much better and has more spirit than this Adolfo Domínguez creation, which is softer and paler.

The citrus opening is pleasant, though not very natural, with a weird note I think is rhubarb; you can smell the lavender and it smells clean. After 3 hours, the trail drops to weak and smells of indistinct florals. I didn’t detect the clove. By 6 hours, it’s very skin-scented, with a hint of musk (Fragrantica doesn’t mention it, but the sample I tested did) and very soft vetiver. Honestly, it’s the poorest vetiver I’ve tried so far and in my country it was considered the most ‘budget’ option at $28 for 120ml. This makes me even more upset about its discontinuation; Puig’s Vetiver was cheaper and much better than this creation by Adolfo Domínguez, which feels softer and lacks the spirit of his Agua Fresca. The trail on me goes from moderate to weak within an hour or two, and practically, the longevity is about 6 hours. I see it as too soft for summer and daytime use, though if I want vetiver, I’d rather spend more on this pale fragrance.

It’s pretty despite its poor performance and has an enigmatic vibe, though it falls way behind Puig or Guerlain. Smells like the house’s Agua Fresca but weaker. I actually like it more, despite the neroli note—which is my least favorite—and it only shows up up close, without that Brumel drama.

  • I used it back in the early 2000s, and it featured a wild, standout vetiver. Here, it wasn’t surrounded by citrus, ginger, or tobacco, so it felt modern and unconventional. It had great longevity with a very nice woody base. Recently, I bought it again and oh boy! Nothing like that other vetiver. This damp earthy tinture is an addition I don’t remember, at least not with such potency. It’s very present and feels artificial. As a note, it could work if it were polished, but as is, it doesn’t work. It completely ruins and cheapens a cologne whose soul was vetiver without artifice. What a pity. 5/10

  • I tried this back in the 2000s when the vetiver was wild and front-and-center, surrounded by citrus and tobacco. Nowadays, without those ingredients, it sounds modern but very artificial, with that damp earth note I don’t recall that muddies the scent. It needs work; it doesn’t function as a cologne and ruins the original essence. A pity. 5/10

Nice scent, too bad about the poor longevity and sillage. The opening is intoxicating, but on my skin it lasts only about two hours. It would have been better if it were more potent.

  • It’s a strange and mysterious scent. A much softer vetiver than Encre Noire and cleaner due to the lavender. After a few hours, it takes on a pre-storm vibe when the air is all mixed up and slightly humid. The downside is that its projection is very low. If it had more presence, it would be very interesting, but I’ve had to overapply it just to smell it well.

  • I like it. A clean, soapy, and green fragrance that starts with lavender and neroli. A somewhat earthy vetiver becomes the heart of the dry-down with slight floral, aquatic, and sweet nuances. Average performance. A good and elegant fragrance for the office. Hard to dislike. Perfect for spring and summer, for daytime. Moderate longevity and sillage.

  • pedjalazaro

I like it. It’s clean, soapy, and green, starting with lavender and neroli. An earthy vetiver becomes the axis with floral, aquatic, and slightly sweet nuances. Normal performance. Good and elegant for the office. Hard to dislike. Ideal for spring, summer, and daytime. Moderate longevity and trail.

My college days fragrance (that’s a while ago). I fell in love with its powerful ‘forest’ opening, which was very different from the scents I was trying back then. Even though I loved it, I must admit I never received a single compliment. I always associated it with older people. As I explored this world more, I realized the scent felt a bit ‘flat’ on me. In other fragrances, I’ve noticed the evolution and how different notes or nuances emerge.

  • I wish there was an EDP version. It opens with a beautiful, fresh, and realistic citrus note. As it dries down, it reminds me of the adult version of a kids’ cologne like Nenuco in the best possible way: it’s clean, cheerful, refreshing, and perfectly unisex. Too bad it has almost no projection or sillage and doesn’t last long; I’ve been wearing it for two hours and can barely smell it on myself.

  • I wish there was an EDP version. It opens with a very beautiful, fresh, and realistic citrus. As it dries down, it reminds me of the adult version of a kids’ cologne like Nenuco: it’s clean, cheerful, refreshing, and perfectly unisex. Pity that it has almost no projection or trail and the longevity is so short; I’ve worn it for two hours and can barely smell it.

  • It smells like a clean forest, as if someone had gone to clean up the woods without leaving any trace of dirt or animal musk. The lavender-like floral note suits it perfectly. It could be unisex. Too bad about the longevity, which is quite weak, but it smells delicious.

  • UnTalArmas

I wore it and it turned out to be an exquisite, very clean and fresh scent. Masculine, elegant, and tasteful.

  • A fresh, refined, and elegant vetiver… Undoubtedly one of the best vetiver fragrances I’ve tried. It smells amazing… but what a pity about the performance 😭 Adolfo, please bring it back with better longevity; I don’t care about the price, I’d happily pay for it. (It doesn’t smell the same to me as ‘Fresh Vetiver Water’… I haven’t tried ‘Vetiver Terra’ to compare)

  • Already discontinued. First they renamed it ‘Fresh Vetiver Water’ and now they’ve swapped it for ‘Vetiver Terra’, with a softer, less crisp aroma and even worse longevity. Its fans, including me, should stock up immediately.

  • I don’t know why they discontinued it and replaced it with Vetiver Terra, which has nothing to do with the original and doesn’t work for me at all. Vetiver Homme was a classic at a fair price, with that clean laundry and wood scent that always got compliments and surely didn’t disgust anyone. The longevity and projection were decent, maybe not all day, but it lasted about 6 hours and I could easily reapply. You can still find it on eBay, but at very high prices. I hope they bring it back someday. It was the best fragrance I’ve ever owned.

  • I don’t understand why they discontinued it and replaced it with Vetiver Terra, which has nothing to do with it and is just bad. Vetiver Homme was a classic, affordable, smelling of clean laundry and wood that earned me tons of compliments and never offended anyone. The longevity and projection were solid—not all day, but easily 6 hours. People would happily reapply it. You can still find it on eBay at ridiculous prices. I hope they bring it back. It was the best fragrance I’ve ever owned.
