  Elegant and long-lasting. Pity it doesn’t resemble the 70s Vetiver, but rather the later Vetiver Dry, just with more florals.

  Le Vetiver is a gem: an undisclosed wood base and intense vetiver hidden beneath high citrus and floral notes. While Guerlain bets on leather and tobacco, Carven uses gin, mint, and spices for a bitter-floral character. The opening is vigorous and tonic, adult but not vintage. Exquisite in its uniqueness, though it can be intense in winter (reminded me of Allure Blanche). It’s not a hard vetiver, but fragrant and sweet in the dry down. The box is beautiful and certifies the original 1957 formula. A historical edition of only two years, reasonable price, and 100% recommended. An absolute benchmark. 9.6/10.

  I bought it blind, knowing my previous vetiver experience was a disaster. Result: a 100% hit. The bottle is gorgeous and the packaging is well-executed. It smells of vanilla, earth, and old-school style, but without feeling dated. Top-notch quality and solid construction, though longevity and projection are moderate. It’s super versatile and pleasant. Rating: 9/10.

  For vetiver lovers, this is a happy reunion. Exquisite and elegant, it breaks with current trends; it doesn’t just smell good, it projects class. Alongside the Guerlain (which is darker), these are must-haves for any collector. I can’t decide which I prefer, but if you find it, you won’t regret it. Even the box details, with its magnets and premium finish, make a difference.
