Vanille d'Iris by Ormonde Jayne is an oriental floral fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2015, this composition is signed by perfumer Geza Schoen. Upon release, the fragrance unfolds with carrot seeds, pink pepper, coriander, and Sicilian bergamota; the heart reveals the elegance of iris root, osmanthus, jasmine, and magnolia; while the base settles on a warm and enveloping foundation of vanilla, Tahitian vanilla, vetiver, cedar, amber, and musk.

Trying it right now and, as a fan of iris and vanilla, I absolutely love it. The issue is that it smells almost identical to the Givenchy Gentleman EDP I own; they share many notes. I sprayed it on the other hand and barely noticed a difference. Yes, the Ormonde Jayne is more natural, while the GG is synthetic, dense, creamy, and intense. This one is softer and fresher. But Givenchy lasts longer, leaves a stronger trail, and costs three times less. Even though I adore it, I don’t think it’ll make it into my collection. Maybe this has a slightly more feminine floral touch compared to the balsamic, masculine vibe of the GG, though both are super similar and unisex.
