Golden Nose
Vanilla Absolue by Andy Tauer is a deep amber that caught me off guard and has me hooked. The vanilla doesn’t dominate; instead, it blends with a spicy cocktail of cinnamon, cumin, and pepper. It’s a natural, wild vanilla that looks like it could give you a scare. You can also detect dry tobacco and a very subtle rose that slowly opens up as it dries. Everything settles on resins, patchouli, and labdanum, with that signature ‘dirty’ touch typical of Tauer. But in the end, the notes soften and sweeten a bit, integrating with the rose for a warmer dry-down. It feels rounded, beautiful, and one of those scents that wraps around you. At the end, it smells a lot like Phi Une Rose by Kandahar, adding another dimension, as if it were its counterpart or inverse. In short, it’s an oriental, amber, and spicy fragrance with a very natural, characterful vanilla and an interesting evolution: from spicy to floral-resinous. It has a nocturnal vibe, dark and dense, perfect for autumn. Despite that, it’s not overwhelming on the trail and doesn’t feel heavy. It’s a joy to wear and a must-have if you love Tauer’s DNA. Instantly becomes one of my favorite vanilla scents. It has a dark, mysterious touch wrapped in a very sensual vanilla that covers everything. Like Dracula wanting to put on something sweet and playful for a night out. Simply marvelous. Spectacular.
