The differences with Tobacco Vanille are the plum note, noticeable especially in the first phase, and the tonka bean, which gives the tobacco and vanilla nuances alongside the benzoin. At first, it feels like a blatant copy, but the plum gives it a fruitier, slightly acidic, and fresh character. In the mid-phase, the plum disappears, and that’s when it resembles Tobacco Vanille most. Here, the tobacco isn’t as sharp and dry as Tom Ford’s, and the vanilla isn’t as cloying. The final phase doesn’t differ much; the scent fades until it’s skin-close, though occasionally bursts return. Unisex scent, better in fresh climates, with above-average performance and excellent longevity on skin. Personally, I like it but it doesn’t fully win me over, since Tobacco Vanille didn’t captivate me at first either; this is more of the same with slight variations. But for those who like this scent, it’s a highly recommended option, much cheaper than Ford’s and with better performance.
I like it. Starts with tobacco, spiced with ginger and slightly fruity from the plum, evolving into drier tobacco, swapping ginger for clove and mixing tonka, vanilla, and benzoin for that sweet base. Spiced, sweet, and dry oriental. Masculine. For cold weather. Pretty good performance. It’s in the same league as Pure Havane and Tabac Rouge. For autumn and winter, more for night than day. Lasting longevity and heavy sillage.
On my skin, Boclet’s Tobacco is from the very first second a brutally sugared plum sauce with almost smoky, nearly suffocating tobacco at the start. Immediately after, spiced vanilla emerges, growing slowly; the fragrance never becomes unbearable, always having noticeable tobacco as a counterpoint. There’s a moment when it gets very tight, but it evolves significantly: the tobacco fascinates me, balancing the composition to create something mysterious and seductive. By the hour, it reminds me of Tom Ford’s iconic fragrance and becomes more airy. It’s elegant and not intrusive, with 6-hour longevity and medium sillage for the first two hours. Probably not a masterpiece, but an option to consider if you like this type of proposal with acceptable overall performance.
A good option if you don’t want to pay the exorbitant price Tobacco Vanille demands. It starts with smoky tobacco without being heavy, then gradually reveals spiced vanilla until a 55% tobacco to 45% vanilla balance. Its weak point is the extremely skin-close sillage, but I understand what Boclet is aiming for: to hint, induce, seek proximity, and surprise in close encounters. Otherwise, very pleasant for cold climates, though it also performs well in temperate seasons.
I always have this issue with Tobacco Vanille and Aventus clones: there are so many options, and while expectations rise, I can’t find anything that truly replaces the original. Just as I was about to give up on paying crazy prices for TF’s Private Collection, this Tobacco appeared almost under the radar. Out of all the TV-type scents I’ve tried, this is the best—not because it’s the most faithful (they add things the original doesn’t, like that plum note in the opening that gives it much more dynamism), but because it doesn’t smell synthetic, linear, or weird up close like most imitations. It resembles TV very closely but with very accurate variations. Fruity opening, perceptible tobacco from the start, progressive spices, and vanilla in the dry-down where it’s most noticeable, staying close to the skin for over 8 hours. This evolution is key to avoid getting cloyed. Moderate projection, ideal for indoors or close encounters. The bottle is pretty and heavy, but the cap and box could be improved. Best value for money I’ve tested in this DNA.
