Boclet pushes the unisex boundary again with Sugar, leaning slightly more feminine. It opens with a bright, soft bergamot—not acidic—that fits perfectly in this sweet fragrance centered around marshmallows, vanilla, and a tasty honey. It’s not cloying; I detect more pear, peach, and a hint of raspberry than coconut, with jasmine and orange blossom dominating over the violet. It’s a floral-fruity dessert with gourmand notes, well-balanced and fresh on my skin. Performance is acceptable, maintaining freshness without becoming overly sweet. Ideal for mild or cold weather, best worn at night, and shines better on feminine skin.

Sugar is exactly that: sweet, floral, and fruity, without smelling like real sugar. It sounds like a blend of Black Opium and Baccarat Rouge, with traits of both but not resembling either completely. The opening is very tasty; although I usually don’t like perfumes with honey, it’s not bothersome here. From the beginning, the fruits go hand-in-hand with the sweetness of the marshmallow and caramel. As it dries down, the flowers reduce the excess sugar a bit. Performance is very good for a 40% concentration, though the projection is moderate. It’s unisex, though traditionally seen as more feminine. If you like BO and Rouge, you’ll love Sugar. Ideal for daily wear on winter days. Overall rating: 8.5.

Sugar says it all: it’s sweet, but a floral-fruity sweetness that doesn’t smell like pure sugar. It reminds me of a mix between Black Opium and Baccarat Rouge, taking the best of both without copying them. The opening is very tasty; although I’m not a fan of honey, it doesn’t bother me here. From the start, the fruits accompany the sweetness of the marshmallow and caramel. As it dries down, the flowers tone down the sugar intensity slightly.
