Amouage The Library Collection Opus V is a woody floral musk fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2011, this composition was created by perfumer Jacques Cavallier Belletrud. The opening reveals lily root and rum; the heart unfolds iris, rose, and jasmine; while the base settles on oud wood, woody notes, and civet.

  • What a rich opening this spectacular fragrance has. To me, it smells more feminine, which is why I didn’t take it home, but I have no doubt I’ll get it someday and wear it freely. In my opinion, it’s one of the best in the Library Collection. It’s something different and nothing linear; I’ve smelled almost all its notes except the animalic one (Civet), which I’ve only perceived in other scents. It lasts a solid eight hours and fades away gradually. It starts masculine, sweet, and quite powerful in a good way, with an enormous trail. I think the main reason for its divine opening is the iris root and rum combined with the roses. Very natural, but as I mentioned, it turns more feminine for me after a couple of hours. I’d classify it as gourmand/floral. I recommend it! Please try it properly. I believe you deserve to experience this and that the composition deserves more support. Longevity: 7.5/10 Versatility: 7.5/10 Projection: 8.5/10 Fixation: 8/10 Trail: 9/10 Scent: 9.5/10 TOTAL: 8.5/10 An unforgettable opening.

  • Starts boozy and powdery with a clean iris that hits instantly, like wearing rum on your skin. As it dries, the light oud adds depth alongside flowers and a very subtle animalic touch. It’s elegant, and while I didn’t get it at first, I absolutely love it now. Reminds me a bit of Dior Homme Parfum and Valentino Uomo Intense, but without the vanilla sweetness in the dry down; it’s more focused on flowers and woods. Perfect for cool nights or going out, works well anywhere as long as you don’t overapply. Great trail and projection for the first two hours, lasting about 9 hours on skin. Scent: 9/10, Trail: 8.5/10, Projection: 8/10, Longevity: 8.5/10.
