It’s a great perfume, super long-lasting with good projection, very green and floral, with the fern note being predominant and very spring-like. My first impression was: I like it! Unfortunately, the leather note is barely noticeable; it’s quite linear and evolves little, which could be great if it weren’t for the fact that some detergents and cleaners have a similar scent. This really kills the perfume; others had the same opinion: it smells like detergent… And no matter how much I like it, I think it would only be usable with the intention of smelling like clean clothes. What a pity this note association is, because it’s truly very good and pleasant.
I didn’t think I’d buy this perfume at first; honestly, I bought it to own all the women’s scents from the house because I like most of them, so that’s how my perfume journey began. When I wore it one day, I knew it wasn’t my favorite, but today I’m pleasantly surprised. It smells clean with a slight laundry powder scent, which I didn’t mind at all because I always smell clean besides its green leaf note. It’s extremely long-lasting on skin with a very pleasant trail. Amouage perfumes have trails that people perceive, and you do too, which is why I like the house—you smell your own perfume; I don’t wear it for others to smell, I wear it to smell it myself, and this meets all the characteristics of a fresh green perfume. I really like it.
A sample of this perfume arrived yesterday. At first, I felt it was herbal and aromatic; it didn’t disgust me, but it didn’t spark much excitement either. But… at the 2-hour mark, an aroma arrived that I’ve been searching for since I was a child and never knew what it was… Patchouli. It’s not earthy, strong, or annoying. It releases a hint of patchouli, as if you applied it 10 hours ago, washed the area, and then brought your nose close—there’s that trace. I don’t know if I explained it well, but it’s a soft, rich, and incomparable hint. It creates a balanced blend between the soapy aspect mentioned here and the herbal notes to lead into that ending I love so much. Of course, it’s my next purchase. Excellent longevity and projection; my next favorite.
At first, I tested Bracken on a blotter and the smell seemed weird: green? woody? fruity? mosquito spray? I decided to try it on skin, and it impacted me. I still find it strange, but I absolutely love it! It opens with a fern scent (the kind from respectable grandmothers’ houses, like the side actor Bob’s hair), super green and woody, like stepping into a very humid forest. As it settles, the berries appear—not sweet, but astringent, like red and white currants. Drying down, you get freshly cut white woods, chamomile, and a clean patchouli without earthiness. Strong projection at first, fading until it disappears by 8 hours. Super original and unisex fragrance, ideal for summer or intermediate seasons. Straight to my gift list. Pleasant: 9/10, Interesting: 9/10, Versatile: 7/10, Original: 9/10.
Well, yes, it smells like laundry detergent. Once you get used to it, there’s no turning back. But it’s not unpleasant or vulgar; it’s fresh, clean, and distinct from the typical summer citrus. Sometimes it gives woody vibes amidst fruity and acidic notes, as if you’re washing clothes in a young forest. I’m not sure if I’ll buy the full bottle, but so far it’s my favorite from the house (the women’s line is very classic for my taste). Don’t let the detergent scent discourage you; the quality-to-price ratio is there. Lasts 12+ hours in over 30° weather, strong projection at first, moderate after, and light at the end.
