Beloved is an ode to womanhood, featuring an exquisite and sophisticated blend. It opens with a bouquet of herbaceous, aromatic, and floral notes, where lavender and chamomile provide a camphoraceous freshness and delicacy. Clove and cardamomo add a spicy touch that blends perfectly with the roses and jasmine, creating elegance and femininity; later, it melts into a symphony of balsamic, incense-like, and animalic accords that give it depth and mystery. The periwinkle and ylang-ylang highlight the floral opening, while benzoin, myrrh, and incense create a warm, sweet, and enveloping accord. The violets add a powdery note that contrasts beautifully with the rest. Over time, it evolves into a base with amber, woody, and leathery accords (leather, labdanum, and castoreum), adding beauty and refinement, until it dries down to a persistent, seductive trail with an unforgettable sillage. On my skin, it lasts over 10 hours with moderate projection. It’s a luxurious, retro, and glamorous perfume that evokes great classics but with a modern twist. Amouage has created a masterpiece that enchants and captivates. Without a doubt, it’s another one of my favorites from the house.

I absolutely love this perfume. For me, it has a clear resemblance to Clinique’s Aromatics Elixir (which I’ve used for years) in the rose-patchouli accord that gives structure to both. But they have their differences: Beloved is softer and drier, like a slightly ethereal floral talc, whereas AE is dark, earthy, dense, and warm. Also, Beloved is more luminous. That’s a key difference, so they aren’t the same, though they do set the stage to see if you’ll like it. Another important difference is price and accessibility: Aromatics Elixir is very easy to find, Beloved is not so much. And in the end, Amouage doesn’t last as long as Clinique, which ages beautifully and remains a bomb. Is it worth it? Yes, absolutely. How many perfumes of this style do we know today, in this current gourmand era? Not many, let’s admit it. But well, that’s where the price comes in. If you can’t afford it, don’t miss out on the olfactory experience you can replicate with AE…
