  This word evokes a prohibition era: secret speakeasies, Cuban cigars, alcohol, and leather armchairs. Glamour and danger, leather and tobacco—that’s the charm of this fragrance where Frapin brought out the best in perfumer Corticchiato. He mixes everything in a Frapin-style cocktail shaker, creating something complex and unique where the essences aren’t individual notes but interlocked like a chain. The blend is homogeneous and compact; the evolution from citrus and rum is brilliant, in my opinion. A heart of mint and a light, imperceptible geranium leads to a dry-down highlighting tanned leather mixed with blond tobacco, a sweet, boozy accord thanks to the rum that lingers until the end. Speakeasy is an original work, but not Corticchiato’s best, crafted for a serious French house making cognac since 1270: Frapin. Rating: 6.

  I tried this via Yuniqu and the name gives it away: it’s a fragrance for those who don’t want to overcomplicate things. It starts strong with rum and tobacco but fades quickly, leaving a subtle, intimate scent. Smells sunny; reminds me a bit of Herod by Parfums de Marly without the vanilla or Paloma by Home Elegance without the florals. I think it’s unisex, though I’d say it suits men better. The downside is it doesn’t last at all—only projects for about 30 minutes. It’s pleasant and easy to wear, so I’ll use it, but I wouldn’t buy the bottle or repurchase it. There are better options, even cheaper ones. Scent: 7.5, Longevity: 6, Sillage: 5, Value: 4.5, Versatility: 8, Uniqueness: 5, Overall: 7.

  Very masculine with a strong, spicy mint mojito vibe. As a woman, I struggle to wear it, but on a guy, it looks incredible.
