Still testing and nothing has truly settled yet. I bought this blindly looking for atypical vanillas in niche perfumery (what a way to waste money, right?), guided by the beautiful packaging. Upon arrival, I tested it on the back of my hand: it’s warm, strong, and a bit overwhelming. It’s comforting, like being wrapped in a blanket while snow falls, drinking anise, vanilla, and milk tea. It’s not the vanilla I was looking for; the sandalwood is so enveloping that the other notes fade into the background, like incense in a forgotten Japanese temple, burning only for monks warding off evil spirits. My fault for buying blindly: the box comes with 50ml plus a 10ml travel size. That little vial found a new home, and I replaced it with a gift from the brand, so the case isn’t empty. This isn’t for young people; stop if you’re under 60 or don’t have a grandmother’s soul like mine! It’s a beast in terms of potency and sillage; use it sparingly or you’ll get a migraine and people will give you the stink eye. A light spray filled my room; my husband said it smelled like an Egyptian spice shop. Take that comment however you like.

  • The first few minutes smell like strong, spicy incense, which bothered me. After that, it unfolds into a scent of vanilla, labdanum (not listed but I can definitely smell it), and the crunch of tonka, reminding me of my Grand Soir by MFK, but smokier, less sweet, and slightly powdery. It’s a warm, comforting scent if you enjoy amber, vanilla, and incense-based fragrances. The longevity is very good for Floraiku, a house that usually has scents with poor longevity despite their high price.

  • The first few minutes after spraying, there’s a very marked, sharp incense note that bothered me. Once that phase passes, the scent unfolds to the end: vanilla with laudanum (not declared, but I can clearly perceive it) and the crunch of tonka, which irremediably reminds me of my Grand Soir by MFK, but smokier, less sweet, and slightly powdery. It’s a very warm, comfortable aroma if you enjoy amber-vanilla scents with incense. Projection and longevity are very good for Floraiku, a house known for having mediocre longevity despite its high price.

  • Fragrantica was light on the notes, so here they are: sandalwood, vanilla, tonka bean, anise, patchouli, and Australian sandalwood. The vanilla-tonka blend is great, with a powdery and woody touch. At first, it smells like custard with anise and nuts, but as it dries down, vanilla takes over. In the dry down, the tonka bean and a soft labdanum patchouli add a darker touch, preventing it from being too dusty. It vaguely reminds me of Encens Suave, minus the coffee. The initial projection is brutal, then it calms down but lasts all day and even into the next morning. It lasts forever on clothes and smells cozy. It’s pretty and sexy, yet comfortable. It’s mature, not for very young people. Unisex with a feminine leaning, perfect for daily wear in cold weather or formal events. Ideal for gourmand lovers. For me, a bit too cloying for all day, but I’d love for someone to wear it so I can smell it from time to time. Pleasant: 7/10 Interesting: 6/10 Versatile: 7/10 Original: 4/10

  • As usual, Fragántica left out some notes, so here’s the full list: sandalwood oil, vanilla extract, tonka bean absolute, anise seed essence, patchouli, and Australian sandalwood. The vanilla-tonka duo is executed well, with a powdery facet and a slight woody touch. The opening is sweet and gourmand, smelling like rice pudding with anise and nuts; as it dries down, vanilla takes center stage over the others. In the dry down, very soft tonka bean and a laudanum-infused patchouli add a dark nuance that prevents it from being too powdery. It vaguely reminds me of Encens Suave, minus the coffee. Initial projection is beast-level, but it tames down over time, though it still projects all day and lingers on the next morning. It clings to clothes you don’t even notice, leaving a sweet, cozy scent. I found it beautiful and sexy without losing its comfort. It’s mature; I don’t see a very young person wearing it. Unisex leaning feminine, perfect for daily wear in cold and fresh weather, but also dressed up well for formal occasions. Excellent signature for gourmand lovers. To my nose, it’s cloying all day, but I’d love for a regular to wear it so I can smell it occasionally. Pleasant: 7/10 Interesting: 6/10 Versatile: 7/10 Original: 4/10

  • It’s a super warm perfume with a spicy touch, patchouli, and a creamy base blending vanilla, tonka bean, and woods; it matches other labdanum scents I own. It’s dense, creamy, and sweet without being overpowering. Unisex, perfect for cold weather and semi-formal events. The longevity is infinite and the sillage lasts 4-5 hours. I love it, but since I have similar options, I’m not buying it right now.

  • Extremely warm perfume, slightly spiced, with touches of patchouli and a creamy base combining vanilla, tonka bean, and woods that I agree remind me of other laudanum perfumes in my collection. Dense, very dense… creamy, sweet but in just the right measure. Unisex. Suitable only for cold climates and better for semi-formal occasions. Its longevity is infinite, and projection and sillage are wide for at least 4-5 hours. I like it a lot, but since I have similar options, I won’t purchase it for the moment.
