I don’t see myself as a beginner; I understand many aromas, even the most complex ones, but this smells like styrene. Honestly.
I hadn’t even recovered from my experience with a Kemi fragrance when a sample of Shaghaf (by Anfas) conveniently landed in my hands. The opening seemed so similar to Kemi, though with less power, that I almost tossed it in the trash. But I held out for several days testing it, and the result is that it stole my heart. It starts powerful and animalic, right when it seems like it’s going too far, it mellows and smells like pure heaven; there’s no civet, no castoreum, no glands, it’s first-class oud as the protagonist and the rest a band that makes it authentically delicious, deep, and almost mystical. It plays with you like peek-a-boo with a baby: it lasts forever, projects strongly before hiding, and when you least expect it, it reappears and makes you smile with delight. It sticks to the skin infinitely, withstands motorcycle rides, various heats, and even a shower without flinching; on clothes, it leaves an exquisitely unforgettable memory. If you’re advancing in the oud note and want power but want to enjoy it from start to finish, don’t hesitate to grab a sample, then forget any other option and get your wallet ready, you won’t stop until you get it.
I hadn’t even recovered from a Kemi fragrance when I casually stumbled upon a sample of Shaghaf (by Anfas). The opening was so similar to Kemi, though less potent, that I almost threw it away. Fortunately, I tested it over several days, and the result is that it stole my heart. It starts powerful and animalic, just as it seems to cross the line of tolerability, it mellows and smells like pure heaven… there’s no civet, no castoreum, no glands; this is first-class oud as the star, with the rest forming a cohort that makes it an authentic, deep, almost mystical experience. It plays with you like peek-a-boo with a baby: it lasts forever, projects strongly before hiding, and when you least expect it, it reappears and makes you smile. It lasts infinitely on skin, withstands motorcycle rides, heat, and even a shower without flinching; on clothes, it leaves an exquisitely lasting impression. If you’re advancing in the world of oud and want power but want to enjoy it from start to finish, don’t hesitate to grab a sample, then forget any other option, get your wallet ready, you won’t rest until you own it.
