Descripción

Sedley by Parfums de Marly is an aromatic woody fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2019, this composition was created by Olivier Cresp and Hamid Merati-Kashani. The top notes unfold a vibrant freshness with lemon, mint, bergamot, grapefruit, and tangerine. The heart reveals herbaceous and spicy elegance thanks to lavender, rosemary, geranium, and frankincense. Finally, the base notes land in a warm and enveloping foundation formed by ambroxan, sandalwood, cedar, cashmere wood, vetiver, and patchouli.

  • If you want to know what this smells like, just buy Bleu de Chanel instead. It’s 93% similar to my perception. Then other nuances come out, but the similarity remains considerable. It’s a Bleu de Chanel, just much more expensive 😅.

  • ElArteDelAroma

It’s a delicious fragrance that enhances and magnifies the citrus notes, but unfortunately, it’s not very long-lasting, and since it’s a niche perfume, the price is through the roof. It’s excellent with a top-tier aroma, but the price compared to the duration leaves a bit to be desired.

It doesn’t smell generic to me; in fact, it’s the only one of its kind I’ve smelled after trying hundreds of fragrances. It smells expensive and has quality similar to Elysium without resembling it at all; it’s a much cheaper citrus alternative. Maybe it gets closer to others as it dries down, but the opening is magnificent.

In my opinion, it doesn’t feel generic; in fact, I hadn’t heard of anything like it despite smelling hundreds of fragrances. It smells expensive, has similar quality to Elysium but feels completely different. It’s a fairly less costly citrus alternative. Maybe the dry-down approaches some of the mentioned ones, but its opening is magnificent.

After a long time, I’m a true fan of this perfume. Its fresh mint and citrus opening is very invigorating, and the sexy dry-down with vetiver makes the entire development shine. It’s been my go-to for hot days, and I feel it performs better than many seasonal scents. It’s very well balanced; on my nose, it feels minty but not like Vaporub or Layton, rather like a fresh leaf or a cold infusion of mint and lemon. I recommend buying it blind; it has similar quality (not aroma) to Elysium, with first-rate ingredients. Good performance: 8 hours on skin with 3 hours of medium projection. Among all PdM, it’s my second favorite after Herod, and within citrus scents, it’s my top 1.

For those of you from Spain, I bought a 2ml of Le Secret du Marais by Parfums de Marly. It’s supposed to be the best, but I was left speechless because I barely smell anything. I want to believe they didn’t give me a fake one—that would be a serious crime—but I was expecting something like Percival that performs well. I need at least 8-9 sprays to last a couple of hours, and I’ve forgotten about the projection. If anyone had a similar experience, let me know. I know they released a stronger formula a couple of years ago, but I don’t think they’d sell me that junk; it would be too disappointing. Cheers.

  • It’s a super masculine summer fragrance; when you wear it, you feel handsome, confident, and happy. It smells like clean summer, lasts well, and you can definitely tell the quality of the ingredients. I recommend it!

  • This perfume is delicious, masculine, elegant yet casual, fresh, and long-lasting. You don’t usually find that description in most scents, but in my opinion, it’s one of the best fresh smells on the market—a balanced work of art that feels like it’s made with first-rate ingredients. Unlike brands that release distilled waters with little longevity, PDM re-formulated it for greater endurance and achieved it. If you want a fresh, elegant, versatile, and long-lasting scent that’s a magnet for compliments and easy to wear, this is the perfume. Highly recommended!

  • This perfume is delicious, masculine, elegant yet casual, fresh, and long-lasting. That combination is rare in many perfumes, but in my opinion, it’s one of the best fresh scents on the market. It’s a work of art, well-balanced, and you can tell the ingredients are high quality. Unlike other brands that release distilled waters with poor longevity, PDM re-formulated it to improve lasting power, and they succeeded. If you want something fresh, elegant, versatile, long-lasting that acts as a magnet for compliments and is easy to wear, this is the perfume. Super recommended.

  • Very good fragrance for extreme heat; here in summer we’re at least at 37 degrees, and this perfume gets better with the heat without being overwhelming, but rather pleasant (people keep complimenting it). The scent feels very elegant and high-quality with great daytime versatility. Honestly, I thought about buying this fragrance because comments said it smelled like expensive shower gel, which is far from reality: it’s fresh, spiced, and woody, nothing challenging or animalic.

  • Very good fragrance for extreme heat. Here in my city, summer temps are a minimum of 37 degrees, and this perfume gets better with the heat, but it’s not overwhelming—just pleasant (people keep complimenting it). The scent feels elegant and high-quality with great daytime versatility. Honestly, I thought about not buying it because people said it smelled like expensive body wash, but it’s fresh, spicy, and woody… nothing challenging or animalic.

  • The dry down of the Sedley is similar to Givenchy Gentleman Cologne, did anyone else notice that?

  • eddiealvarez

Excellent fragrance for high temperatures, smells masculine and very fresh. I have a 2022 batch and it’s great: good performance for its type, decent projection (2h), and longevity (up to 8h). It has a fougere/barbershop vibe, probably due to the lavender, but it’s modern thanks to the ambroxan—nothing outdated. The notes are top quality, like the Marly parfums I’ve tried. The opening is energizing and citrusy, the mint is noticeable though it fades quickly, leaving behind a very pleasant fresh woody dry down. Highly recommended if you can find it at a good price; it will be a great ally for spring/summer.

95% Hugo Boss Infinite. The other 5% is because it’s more masculine: Infinite for under 30, Sedley for over 30.

  • Good blue fragrance for heat, with designer vibes but excellent quality. It’s versatile and works for everything. Initially, it was criticized for longevity, probably because it wasn’t macerated well enough when released. The bottle I have lasts hours.

  • HELLO! COMING TO LEAVE MY REVIEW ON THIS MASTERPIECE. I TRIED IT AND IT’S A HIT: IT’S SO DISTINCT IT ALMOST GIVES ME A HEADACHE, BUT THE QUALITY IS INSANE. PEOPLE SAY IT’S LIKE HUGO BOSS, BUT THAT’S AN INSULT TO COMPARE THEM—NOT EVEN CLOSE! PLUS, HERE IN ARGENTINA, BOSS COSTS 40K PESOS AND THIS SEDLEY IS 183K, AND IT’S WORTH EVERY CENT. IT’S A FRAGRANCE THAT DELIVERS, NOT INVASIVE, AND THE BEST PART: IT LASTS 12 HOURS WITH JUST 4 SPRAYS. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

  • STGO.DECANT

One of the worst in skin performance. My daughter has a mint shampoo that smells similar and lasts longer on my skin than this Sedley. It smells good and natural, but I wouldn’t spend $250 on it. Maahir Legacy is better, eyes closed.

  • zantiago31

One of my PFM favorites. If you’re looking for something different, it’s not, but it is simple, elegant, and clean with extraordinary quality. You don’t need an out-of-the-ordinary scent to look classy; this perfume delivers that. Easy blind buy. Scent: 8.8. Longevity: 10 hours on my skin. Sillage: Good for the first 2 hours, then stays in a 1-meter bubble. Compliments: Girls will ask about it; it’s a scent that never fails.

  • One of the best fragrances I’ve tried for hot weather. While many call it a classic with a modern twist, to me it’s truly a fresh, contemporary scent—very charming. It’s super versatile, performs well, and you can tell it’s high quality. Totally recommended.

  • peperinafragancia

It’s true it has a strong resemblance to Hugo Boss Infinite, but it has a fruitier touch than the brand. For me, it’s practically identical to Burberry Men from 1995, which is high quality and much more affordable. To me, it’s a clean scent, traditional soap-like, metallic, masculine, slightly mature, for a serious man—maybe better suited for work and business environments.

  • In short: a very rich masterpiece, supreme quality, and lots of compliments. Lasts 8+ hours. To those saying it resembles Hugo Boss Infinite: urgent advice—go do a blind test. Cheers.

  • I tried it today at Secante and it literally smells like Hugo Boss Infinite—why hasn’t anyone noticed?! PDM just wants to see fools’ faces with their so-called ‘niche’ perfumes.

  • A rich aroma, I’d say more unisex-leaning masculine. Regarding the comparisons to Boss Infinite, I tested them side by side: the opening of Infinite is more herbal, sharp, and alcoholic, while Sedley is more citrusy. I didn’t find much similarity in the dry down, though they do resemble each other a bit more. What I did notice is that Sedley feels better constructed and the quality is significantly superior between the two.

  • It’s basically a Hugo Boss Infinite that PDM makes you pay for status. The Arab clone of Caballito performs better for me.

  • What a terrible disappointment; I even think a $10 catalog perfume smells better. It feels ultra-synthetic, it’s outrageously expensive, and it projects almost nothing. They did a terrible job. Let me tell you it’s not worth even buying a decant to try. Trash can for my $280.

  • What a terrible disappointment. I even think a $10 catalog perfume smells better. It feels ultra-synthetic, it’s way too expensive, and it has almost no projection. They did a terrible job. I’d say it’s not worth buying a decant to try. Trash my $280.

  • I prefer the Mahhir Legacy by Lattafa. It lasts longer than Sedley—over 9 hours—with decent projection. I’d give it a 50/100.

  • Gentleman80

A wonderful men’s fragrance that exudes class and seriousness. Wearable all year round, though it stands out more in spring and summer.

  • This is an overpriced perfume for what it is: super sharp and easy to recreate. Not worth it; there are better options out there.

  • Way too expensive for what it is: super acidic and easy to clone. Not worth it when there are better options on the market.
