I see no one has taken the time to review this masterpiece by Guy Laroche; I’m satisfied that its refreshing, powerful, and charming scent isn’t everywhere. The women who have been by my side don’t hold back in telling me how good my lotion smells. I really liked its attractive dry-down, which is perceptible even after twelve hours on the skin, with tonka bean going all out and its refreshing citrus and woody opening with a masculine musky aroma that I believe is what catches the girls’ attention. Whether day or night, you’ll be on point wherever you go, as its changing notes make you feel secure, since it persists attractively on the skin for twelve hours. Its components seem high quality, as if trying to revive the great glories of the highly awarded Drakkar Noir. Very well-calculated this launch by Michel Girard. The best part is that it’s not ‘overused,’ as we say in Mexico when everyone uses the same thing. I’m hooked on its scent and I think it will be my favorite for everyday use this summer. Thanks Michel Girard for your work.

  • It’s a re-reading of Mr. Michel Girard’s One Million under the Cool Water philosophy… and for those who like it. Although I’ve never liked Cool Water, I respect its legion, and I’m speaking directly to them: in this Essence, you’ll regain what was lost in the original Davidoff in terms of longevity and projection, with a modernized approach but its own signature. Drakkar Essence, while not innovative, proposes something cold and intense, with excellent performance and mentholated accords that are dry, powdery, and rolled in the ice of a mineral, sterile tonka bean; it feels cold and tonic to the extreme (grapefruit). The synthetic, plasticky musk provides support, while a hypocritical wood adds body without playing in the pyramid, offering only support from a translucent, aquatic wood. It’s a throwaway perfume, one of those that ends up in stores like Ross or TJ Maxx and that over time ends up costing a fortune. That said, as soon as spring arrives, I’m going to wear it like a boss, because it offers so much for so little that it’s worth it. It’s not a recommendation, just a guide of my thoughts.

  • What a disappointment. I was expecting the DNA of my favorite, Drakkar Noir, but it’s like night and day. It opens with a potent citrus grapefruit note and a generic aquatic vibe that really turns me off. Plus, it barely lasts two hours. This Guy Laroche perfume is a total bust.
