Olivier Ondé doesn’t lie with its name: it’s a totally woody perfume and a wonderful experience. The powerful opening recalls long rows of cypresses in the summer sun, with a bit of dust, radiating scent down to the center of the path. It blends perfectly with olive, not its wood or fruit, but its leaves: hard, green, and bitter. It’s not a sparkling green of grass, but a dark, oily, and dense one. As it dries, an earthy vetiver holds it all together, giving a sensation of a Mediterranean field in summer. I don’t notice citrus or the cold of geranium. Good projection and moderate longevity. If you like feeling like you’re walking through a field of cypresses and olives in the summer sun, don’t hesitate and try it.

  • As the previous review says, plus an undisclosed touch of incense; perhaps the wood and resin blend gives a subtle incense-like aroma. Also, I notice a non-overpowering eucalyptus, also subtle. I like it.

The combination of notes is fantastic… but the brand forces you to use the entire system (gel, creams, etc.) to perfume yourself in layers; otherwise, it performs terribly. I tested it on skin and paper and it didn’t last past an hour, and it’s an Eau de Parfum! The sillage isn’t good either; this brand doesn’t project beyond the skin. I don’t vote for the resemblance to Encre Noire by Lalique: although the woody and earthy notes (here the vetiver is a delight, the best I’ve ever smelled) are similar, they only coincide in the drydown. If you tell someone blindfolded they are the same, they’d get confused. Watch out: Encre Noire is a jewel, a case apart, very difficult; I had to give away my bottle due to an allergy I never understood. What a pity because Olivier Ondé smells like 10… I don’t think it’s an Eau de Parfum. PS: I’ll give it another chance; the scent bewitches; I hope to change my mind and think it was an accident, because the aroma is sublime!

What a fantastic scent, with an elegant and comforting opening… but it lasts a mere breath. I agree with the previous ones: if it lasted longer than a cologne, it would be a masterpiece.

  • I tested it on a strip and it smells good; it reminds me of oil paint, which must be its base of wood and spices. It needs to be tested on skin. I also tried another from the same house, but it doesn’t last or leave a trail; I hope this one is different, since the price isn’t low and good performance is expected.

  • I love this fragrance; if a man wore it, I’d look at him without hesitation. It’s mysterious and enigmatic, with a very present forest and woody aroma; the blend is brilliant. It feels original and distinct from what’s currently heard in men’s perfumery. I tested it on blotter, so I don’t know how it performs on skin, but it’s sublime.
