Descripción
Nuvolari by Rubini is a woody-spicy fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2021, this composition features the olfactory signature of Cristiano Canali. The top notes unfold a bold combination of gasoline, Italian lemon, and black pepper. The heart reveals motor oil, metallic nuances, mint, Bulgarian rose, and neroli. To finish, the base notes settle on Laotian oud, asphalt, Haitian vetiver, and ambroxan.

This is an ode to the adrenaline of motorsports, capturing everything from the smell of asphalt to engine oil. Haha, Cristiano Canali is an olfactory alchemist who seems to have a PhD in ‘noseology’. This fragrance is as complex as a V8 engine, if you know what I mean. It’s a high-speed olfactory experience, I’d say. I’m totally blown away.

A peculiar fragrance. Second decant I’ve bought, and same vibes. I like it a lot, but I’m not sure if I’m ready to buy the full bottle. Honestly, I don’t align with the impressions I’m reading about it. To me, it smells floral, with a strange aldehydic hint and a smoky part. I don’t get asphalt, gasoline, or leather, or at least not with the prominence others notice. Maybe the name guides people’s olfactory impressions. Given the theme, I expected something more masculine, but it seems totally unisex. The scent reveals the natural quality of its ingredients. Projection and longevity are very good (7-8 hours), and it stays closer to the skin. What I’d highlight most about Nuvolari is that I don’t think it reminds me of any other fragrance, and that’s a great merit.
Another fragrance with all the hype promising to revolutionize the world, yet it makes an absolute racket the moment you put it on. Gentlemen, this is a bomb; I’m not sure if I should describe it as a masterpiece or just a well-tuned machine. That almost rubbery oud is there from the start, giving off an asphalt vibe, like freshly tarred roads. Upon application, you get a citrus and pepper blend that reminds me of gasoline, but without that earthy or rotten tone of normal gas, always with a metallic twist. The drydown is curious. The mint is very noticeable, providing an exquisite green note that’s a relief because without it, everything else would be overwhelming. There’s also vetiver, adding a spicy touch and reinforcing that greenery. I’m surprised the rose and neroli aren’t getting more love; they’re crystal clear and project like iron for about three hours. It’s highly distinctive and complex; that rubbery oud is certainly curious. I compare it to Nasomatto’s Fantomas, something peculiar and unique. It’s quite unisex; cold and moderate temperatures are your friends, while heat would be madness. That spiced-green mineral profile makes it ideal for formal or semi-formal occasions, though with certain nuances that call for at least a blazer, not a tuxedo. Lasts 8-9 hours, and I won’t even count on clothes. In short: something to stand out and make you explain the story of why the perfumer created it. You’ll certainly have more conversation starters.
