  Nevermore is a romantic perfume inspired by Poe’s ‘The Raven.’ Every January 19th, someone leaves three red roses and a bottle of cognac on his grave. The rose opens pale and metallic due to the aldehydes, then becomes energetic and potent; when mixed with the spices, it gains dark nuances and a hint of ink. The woody drydown and the sweet touch of amber round everything out, offering excellent longevity and a pleasant finish. It’s comfortable, wearable, and has some masculine peaks. It makes me want to pair the scent of rose with that of old ink and paper; the cognac is represented by the amber. Very beautiful and original. Rating: 7.

  I didn’t dare buy the full bottle and ordered a decant instead, but it caught me off guard: powerful and fascinating. It smells of ripe rose wrapped in amber, with that aldehydic note kept very well in check. On my skin, it lasts over 6 hours and you can tell when you move. Be warned, don’t let the opening fool you: it’s aldehydic, spicy, and acidic, but within minutes it transforms. It makes me feel powerful and elegant. I’ve already ordered the bottle; it’s worth it.
