The bottle is a jewel: transparent yet holding a liquid that looks like pure mercury, a work of art that screams refinement. The iris adds a feminine touch, though personally I’m not bothered by it and I think it’s unisex. It’s built on musk and red berries (which don’t stand out on their own). The result is elegant, sophisticated, and perfect for cold weather or nighttime events like weddings. It has great longevity and moderate sillage. Between Narciso for Him and this Musk, I’d stick with the original. It’s a masterpiece that proves my tolerance, as I appreciate it even though it’s not my usual style. Use it sparingly.

It’s inevitable that the first thing that catches your eye is the bottle. It’s transparent, but inside you can’t see the liquid; instead, there’s a material similar to pure mercury; the impression is huge, you know you’re standing in front of a work of extreme refinement. Regarding the Iris: it’s clear it adds a feminine touch, since forums mention it’s the note used to plump lips. I don’t dislike the Iris scent (maybe I’m just used to the desperate kisses of some… haha!), but I consider this fragrance can be perfectly unisex without effort. The Iris is supported by the musk (the popular Musk) and red berries (which individually aren’t distinguishable). The result is sophisticated and elegant, best for cold climates (preferably), with great longevity and moderate sillage. Perfect for very formal and evening events, like a wedding. Between Narciso Rodriguez for Him (a bit more floral) and this Musk, I’d stick with the for Him. That said, it’s a work of art; I’m proud to have it in my collection, it demonstrates my tolerance level, which isn’t that extreme, because although it’s not my style, I appreciate it. Apply with caution.

Has anyone noticed differences between this For Him Musk and the new For Him Eau de Parfum (the only change was the bottle color)? Perfumeries say it’s exactly the same. I’ve noticed in the newer one a hint of spice and less green note; I find it more subtle and mellow. If it’s true that the white musk and floral parts are identical, I’d say it’s slightly less expansive than the Musk, leaning towards something more sophisticated… but I’m not sure.

I disagree with the reviews claiming it lasts only a few hours; it’s much longer-lasting and projects further than its sibling, For Him (both by the same nose). This difference is more noticeable at night, as For Him fades quickly while this one lasts several hours longer. Since it’s an EDP, you don’t need to apply much, but by experience, it offers better olfactive versatility than Narciso Rodríguez’s predecessor. It’s also cheerier than the previous one, which had a slightly ‘funereal’ vibe; perhaps the older one is more direct for conquest, but this arrives in a more subtle, harmonious way thanks to its florals, herbs, and leather note. It’s a serious fragrance that conveys joy, and I consider it a masterpiece. Both NR fragrances have their audience: one on a dry plane, the other in cheerful tones. It depends on what you want to project, but the EDP edition is far more long-lasting and projects with less effort. It’s a very well-crafted creation and I’d recommend it, as it doesn’t resemble many on the current market.

  • Elegant, refined, and delicate. On my skin, it says ‘that’s me.’ Ideal for formal situations without drawing attention, except in close contact where it stands out without the risk of being overpowering like some strong perfumes. It lasts, but after a few hours, it’s just skin scent. If the fragrance opens up too much or gets smoky, it loses a lot of its essence.

  • Elegant, refined, delicate. On my skin, it says, ‘Yes, that’s me.’ Ideal for elegant situations without drawing attention, except in close contact, where it definitely stands out and I don’t think it repels like other stronger scents. It lasts, but after a few hours, it projects barely more than skin scent. Instead of opening up, it loses much of its character over time.

The longevity and sillage are excellent. By the way, I just mixed it with Dior Homme Sport 2008, and the grapefruit in the Sport toned down that excessive musk. So if you want to wear it but the musk bothers you, you know what to do.

  • I don’t understand how something like this exists. It smells so earthy, so bitter, so weird. If you want to make a statement, this is your choice, but so far I can’t see anything pleasant about it. I’ll skip it.

Just to note, this was the original 50ml Musk for Him Collection (later released in 100ml) before it was discontinued shortly after the Eau de Parfum came out. The EDP is essentially the same but with spices and without the red berries that gave it that fresh, green touch; fortunately, I still have my original 50ml bottle. I really like it: it’s elegant, cheerful, and sexy, and at night it stands out above average with a very novel and modern vibe. I give it a 9/10.

A clean, elegant, and linear musk with a touch of sweet berries. It’s good, but boring due to that overly straight, white character.

The opening is strange and dense, very particular like the other fragrance from this house I tried, For Him. I sensed a dense floral note that initially seemed like jasmine but then turned into an iris distinct from Dior’s Homme line. I didn’t detect the red berries, neither acidic nor sweet; they almost functioned as a green note alongside that peculiar iris. Then it opens up to the musk-iris blend, which ends up dominating, always surrounded by the florals. The musk smells better than commercial brands. I tested it with three sprays and the trail was moderate to low, lasting over 12 hours clinging to the skin. With more sprays, it improved by about two or three hours, but it stayed moderate to low, never heavy, though it always surpassed 12 hours. It’s minimalist, with a peculiar opening typical of the house and a simple, elegant musky finish. I don’t recommend buying blind; better suited for intermediate seasons.

The opening is dense and peculiar, with a floral note that I initially thought was jasmine but turns out to be a different iris than in Dior Homme. The red berries aren’t acidic or sweet; instead, they add a green nuance that pairs well with that special iris. Then it opens up into the musk, which becomes dominant but surrounded by flowers. The musk is higher quality than what you find in commercial brands. With three sprays, the sillage is low but it lasts over 12 hours on the skin; with more sprays, it extends by a couple of hours, though it still doesn’t project much. It’s minimalist, with a rare opening typical of the house and an elegant musky dry down. Don’t buy blindly; better suited for intermediate seasons.

  • Well, lucky you, because here in Spain you can’t find it online. Fortunately, I have one of the few original 50ml bottles from over two years ago. And I say happily because it’s a perfume that, used at night, is marvelous.

  • Disaster on my skin. I don’t doubt it’s delicious on others, but on mine, it barely smells and stops smelling immediately after application. I only detected musk and a hint of iris for a moment; no trace of the red berries it claims to have. I wish I could have smelled them. Extremely low sillage and abysmal performance. I don’t recommend it based on my experience.

  • Total disaster on my skin. I don’t doubt it delights others, but on me, it barely smells anything right after application. If I caught a scent at all, it was a hint of musk and iris; zero trace of the red berries it claims to have. I wish I could have felt those notes. The trail is extremely low and the performance is abysmal. I can’t recommend it based on my experience.

  • Congratulations @oscarsh86 for being able to try this fragrance more than two years after its disappearance from the market. But well, sometimes in limited editions you can find something around… right now the only available one is For Him EDP, which although very similar, is not the same. As Monsieur Priethcallas correctly says, the red berries are exactly that fresh green sensation the fragrance has in its opening. The current EDP doesn’t have them because it replaced them with spices.

  • I admire and am faithful to the NR line, except for this fragrance, as I had to sell it. I bought it blind, tested it several times, and for months I never liked its scent. It’s not bad, I just see it as very difficult to use even for formal occasions; I couldn’t figure out when or where to wear it. Also, it doesn’t last long, barely 3 hours and it vanishes; it also doesn’t have good sillage, it doesn’t seem like an EDP. 5/10.

  • To me, it’s the best Narciso Rodríguez in the masculine line. Unfortunately, they discontinued this Narciso Rodríguez Musk Collection that came in 50ml bottles. I keep a bit of the last bottle like gold in a cloth and save it for special outings. The notes are clear: Egyptian musk dominates, the flowers are beautiful, the woods give roundness, and in the opening there are red berries that give it a green and special touch. Above all, it conveys a lot of joy and optimism. If I had to define it with one word, it would be definitive: Joy. The joy of reconnecting with life when sometimes everything goes wrong.

  • I like it. Starts musky with a raspberry-fruity touch. The iris gives it a powdery note. Seems good for the office. Clean, neat, and classy. Good performance. For autumn, winter, and spring. For daytime. Long-lasting longevity. Moderate sillage.

  • I’m a fan of Narciso Rodríguez, especially the feminine ones, and I own and have tried some of the masculine ones, but this one has disappointed me. Better said, I don’t perceive it as I would like. It’s floral; when you apply it, you feel a shower of white flowers that lasts 10 minutes and that’s it. After 15 minutes, nothing remains, and only up close do you smell what was there at the start. Unfortunately, I think it just doesn’t suit my skin; I suppose it might perform differently on others, but in my case, it’s pitiful—the scent doesn’t last more than 20 minutes. I thought maybe I got an expired sample, but after reading other reviews highlighting the poor performance, I believe it depends on each person’s skin and pH to work.

  • If I think of musk, Narciso Rodríguez is always the best option. Today I’m enjoying Musc Collection, an EDP limited edition that should have been 100ml and not 50ml. It has a rare opening, a bit dirty and animalic until powdery iris and sweet red berries tame the beast. When it dries on the skin, magic happens. It’s ideal for winter mornings and afternoons, but it also has great performance on spring and summer nights. On my skin, it projects for about 6 hours and longevity reaches around 9.

  • Either my nose is atrophied or I swear this doesn’t carry iris as stated. Maybe it confuses it with violet, but it smells like potent musk with an acidic fruity touch and violet. I’d say there’s a bit of patchouli. It’s powerful but doesn’t project, a brutal quality perfect for any formal occasion. A hidden gem, and God knows why, discontinued.

  • Either my nose is broken or this doesn’t carry iris like it’s supposed to. Maybe it smells like violet, but it’s a powerful musk with an acidic fruity note and a touch of patchouli. It’s potent but doesn’t project; a brutal quality perfect for formal occasions. A hidden gem that, God knows why, has been discontinued.

  • A fragrance that hurts twice over: first, the terrible performance on my skin, and second, that they discontinued it. It’s pure musk, iris, talc, and a sticky fruity touch. It’s addictive and full of personality. What a hit to create it and what a mistake to take it off the market. It’s intimate, comforting, yet melancholic, like a hug at a goodbye or watching your kids leave. I love wearing it alone and smelling myself. It smells clean and everything fits. I don’t mind reapplying to get lost in that feeling. The performance is very weak, but hey, nothing could be perfect.

  • Victortor

A fragrance that hurts twice: for its ridiculous performance on my skin and for discontinuing something so attractive. It’s pure musk, iris, and talcum with a chic, fruity touch. It’s addictive and full of personality. What a hit to create and what a mistake to pull it. It’s intimate, brings well-being with a melancholic touch—not sad, but a strange sensation, like a hug at a farewell or watching your kids leave. I love wearing it alone and smelling myself. It smells clean, everything fits. I don’t mind reapplying to immerse myself in that feeling again. The performance is very weak, but hey, nothing could be perfect.
