With respect, congratulations to lovers of soapy notes and those who, after olfactory loss from COVID, suffered their favorite perfumes turning into genuine stinky bombs. That doesn’t happen with Comme des Garçons’ Marseille; it’s a refined, welcoming soap like a hug, with excellent projection and versatility for any season. It’s not a beast with its eau de toilette concentration, but it performs better than expected. The opening is impactful and lasts about 3 hours on my skin, then lingers for another 3 hours in a bubble worth the wait. It’s not one of the brand’s most famous, which I’m glad about, and you only find it in specialty stores. It has an affordable niche price: around 85€ for 50ml. Completely unisex, always test on skin. Excellent value for money.

  • It’s a direct clone of Marseille soap. Very strong for my taste and totally linear, smelling of soap from start to finish. After a while, I ended up getting saturated.

  • LUXURY SOAP IN A BOTTLE. It captures the realistic aroma of Marseille soap but elevates it to something poetic, nothing like supermarket detergent. The opening is sharp and astringent, like a citrus explosion that plunges you headfirst into a freshly cut bar. Then it settles into something linear and impeccable, like freshly laundered clothes with luxury fabric softener. It’s pure soap, no frills or creaminess, just spotless and fresh. I thought it would be for intimate use only, but it surprised me with compliments. Ideal for work, especially in places that demand impeccable cleanliness. Completely unisex, subtle but with a presence that leaves a mark.

It smells like classic Marseille soap—the olive, coconut, and palm oil kind, not the Castilla variety. It’s that familiar clean scent from the past, the one grandmothers used and which is now in detergents. The perfumer adapted it to work as a fragrance, using molecules that enhance that floral and musky scent with an amber and woody touch. It’s very soapy, but the sharp note is attenuated, softened though not erased. The subtle amber polishes the aroma without sweetening it. It pleases almost everyone and is unisex, slightly feminine, and wearable year-round. Projection is moderate; it fades to a bubble after an hour that lingers on clothes. 85€ for 50ml. It’s niche due to its similarity, not innovation. If you like soapy perfumes, it’s a must-have; if not, there are cheaper options like Clean’s Pure Soap. Don’t confuse it with Villoressi’s Teint de Neige, which is denser and heavier.

  • The brand gets straight to the point: the name, bottle, and juice are pure Marseille soap. It doesn’t smell like generic soap, but rather that concentrated liquid we used to keep on the side of the sink. It opens astringent and sharp, packed with neroli and orange blossom, like a pure blend. The initial hit is energetic but not annoying, then it softens to reveal that natural side that brings back faithful memories. It’s a wonderful proposal, low-key but noticeable in the room. Ideal for the office or sunny days in Valencia. Unisex, versatile, and with decent longevity to enjoy. The price could be a bit lower, but you’ll surely find it on sale.
