I love the scent in the bottle, but once the tonka bean kicks in, it clashes and smells like dog flea treatment. The longevity and trail are top-notch with just two sprays.
I love the scent in the bottle before applying it, but once worn, the tonka bean adds a sweetness that feels off and reminds me of my dog’s dewormer. Still, the longevity and sillage are excellent with just two sprays on the neck.
A spice bomb. It smells fresh but packed with pepper. What stands out most is the pepper; very masculine.
Smells elegant and soft, like a whisper accompanying you. It’s fresh and warm at the same time, perfect for all day and always gets compliments.
If you want to smell like an Indian restaurant chef, this is your perfume.
A perfumery of noble simplicity. Black pepper has never delivered so many facets. If you like Elixir Sauvage, you’ll love this.

The pepper note here is pure magic: it starts like a jar of ground pepper and becomes sweet and seductive. It’s a unique fragrance, nothing commercial, and I recommend it 100%.

The opening is black pepper exactly as the name suggests. It’s positive that it doesn’t mislead. It reminds me of Paco Rabanne’s Ultraviolet. The dry down of pepper comes with cedar and cypress, like a cemetery after the rain with a bag of fresh pepper. But it doesn’t last long; it becomes soft, sweet, and powdery with patchouli and tonka bean. Then rose and incense appear. In the end, it smells soapy. It’s pretty but very ephemeral for its price.
Smells like smoke, embers, wet stone, incense, and a matchstick. It’s interesting and enveloping. It’s dark, reminiscent of Encre Noire but different, with that halo of mystery. Dracula or Darth Vader could wear it. Ideal for fall and winter. I like it, though the downside is the price. If it cost less, it would be a safe buy.

I see it more for cold weather, though given how weak it is, it could be used in the heat. Personally, I didn’t like it; pepper isn’t my favorite and it never attracted me. Hi MarcusRS, my complaint is that this house, despite being one of my favorites, has been stuck in a loop with the same oriental-spiced vibe for years. For the most die-hard fans, this cycle might sound appealing, much like big metal bands: you like the latest Megadeth or Iron Maiden, but mostly because of the nostalgia for their classics. Here, the star is pepper, something the house has been using for decades, followed by a medicinal base that surprises genre lovers and aims for a more sophisticated angle, though it’s a measured exoticism they’ve been proposing for a long time. It deserves special mention for its limited strength, which isn’t a dealbreaker since it fits the current ‘niche’ trend, even if it’s short-lived. The best part is that it will presumably connect with fans who don’t know the house and discover a compilation of their Europeanized orientalism.
It feels similar to other incense-based scents from the house, but here it leans more towards black pepper (especially at the start), and in the dry down, a medicinal note emerges (maybe Oud?) that gives it a vibe similar to eucalyptus or Vick Vaporub. I’m not sure if it’s due to mixing agarwood with pepper or the patchouli dancing in between the incense.
Sensational, it’s the only one from Garçons that excited me. The opening is impressive, making you think it might smell like pure black pepper, like the stuff I have in the kitchen haha, but it evolves very interestingly with woods and smoke.

Blackpepper is that dark, personality-driven fragrance that I love. Minimalist and avant-garde, it evolves linearly and warms up as it dries. It’s an explosion of black pepper softened by Tonka Bean, with dry woods and a patchouli that traps you like a black hole. Very good blend. Rating: 8

Of minimalist and avant-garde conception, its evolution is almost linear and warms up as it dries. It feels like an explosion of black pepper softened and warmed by Tonka Bean. The dry woods transform into the ashes of this nuclear explosion, and the patchouli adds character as if it were a black hole that traps you. Very good blend. Rating: 8
