  • azuriiita

I expected something greener, fresher, and woodier… but I was surprised that it smells heavily of incense, pepper, and cassis (from start to finish). I also detect sandalwood, moss, and a touch of benzoin. Its trail and sillage are quite good. Plus, it’s one of those scents you instantly identify as ‘masculine’… its incense isn’t refined. It reminds me of some lovable male characters from Benedito Ruy Barbosa’s novels.

I agree with the user Azuriita; this fragrance leans more towards incense and muted notes. I’m worried about its longevity compared to Coffee Man—it’s very poor. So far, I can’t detect the wine note (does the name relate to the scent?). I’ll give it another chance before writing it off.

  • This is my first impression. I just received an order from O Boticário with Malbec and its flanker Gold. Like a kid on his birthday, I opened the first package, tested it, and the sensation was very pleasant, evolving and making me want to explore it further. First impressions: soft juice but not weak, generous and kind; it inspires class and cleanliness, but this is just the beginning. I need to let it mature, blend with my skin, and that creates the desire to discover more. I also received samples of other fragrances, including Floratta flankers for my wife, one of which was Flores Secretas, which opened our eyes to how pleasant it is. Another sample of 214 African Sunrise came through; it’s interesting, I must explore it. I really liked the bottle design and the snowy packaging. Discovering O Boticário has been a pleasure; I notice a distinctive particularity in their fragrances. Personally, it seems very likely I’ll subscribe to the brand; there’s quality and service here. I’ll stay in touch. Bye!

  • This is my second comment, following the previous one. I detect a predominant wine note, although the only thing that says it’s wine is the name and the notes don’t confirm it; it seems fruity, like red berries, though it only has citrus. There’s a certain amber that goes with that winy touch, but it’s not heavy, and there’s no excessive sweetness; I feel it walking around me softly, like a skin scent, though I’m not sure and we need to keep exploring. At times I detect incense, only when it settles, a soft, ghostly presence that comes and goes. Direct heat works against it, so you need to be careful if you want to preserve it. Just to clarify, I live in a sunny tropical zone. I reiterate that I’ve loved discovering Malbec and O Boticário through this; I’ve already bought two flankers with good reviews, the Gold and the Magnetic, which I haven’t tested yet. Until next time.

  • Third review on this date. A simple sniff of the cap at the end of the day left me with a pleasant sensation that erased the confusion from the Magnetic flanker launch, where I tried to confirm what I said earlier and smelled something similar to what I had with Gold. Now I’m not sure what to think of Magnetic and Gold, but I’ll keep testing. Just smelling the cap, which left a trace in my nasal cavity, makes me think it has sophistication, evoking cleanliness, refinement, and class. It just lacks a bit more power to project, which is what I desire. Confirming something I saw before: flankers can’t copy the success of the original; they just serve to confirm that success. I think they’re meant to make collectors like me swoon and collect the line, knowing only the first one is perhaps worth it. In fact, I want to get Club Intenso and Flame; they intrigue me. Until next time.

  • Starting with the original that launched the Malbec line, there are already many derivatives. This one is only for cold weather, under 22 degrees. I have one nearly empty and a new one I tested two months ago that only smelled of dry wood with zero performance. But yesterday I tested it again and ufffff, what a change! I’ve never had Amouage’s Interlude, but with a single spray on my wrist, it lasted two days until the shower. I don’t wear it in this heat, but if another fragrance has this performance, bless it! I have the Gold and the Absoluto, and they both perform well, though the Absoluto is more gourmand and refined. If you want something woody, ambered, and classy for cold days, you can’t go wrong. It pairs well with semi-formal attire. Don’t buy it blindly; it’s a scent that people compliment often, but it’s not generic. If you like it, spray it on generously, let it sit in the closet for a month, and you won’t believe the result.

  • I don’t get why people praise this. It has no projection, doesn’t last, and the scent is weak. I bought it on recommendation and it’s the worst money I’ve spent. I wore it for days hoping it would improve, but nothing changed: no sillage, no longevity. It just sticks to the skin, which doesn’t convince me. I also don’t like the aroma. I expected more from this Malbec and I’m left with a brutal disappointment.
