Descripción
Malbec Noir by O Boticário is a woody-spicy fragrance for men. Launched in 2015, this composition was created by Napoleão Bastos, Dominique Ropion, and Claire Liégent. The top notes unfold with aquatic aromas, pink pepper, apple, pineapple, bergamot, orange, Sicilian lemon, mandarin, and grapefruit. The heart reveals Pinot Noir grapes, red wine, lavender, pepper, cilantro, and neroli. Finally, the base notes offer a foundation of tonka bean, amber, sandalwood, gin, cashmere, patchouli, vetiver, musk, and labdanum.

I bought this fragrance and it took two weeks to arrive from Brazil. Right after spraying, it smells like Paco Rabanne’s Invictus; as it dries down, there’s a very subtle grape note, and at the end, wine. It’s potent in projection but doesn’t last long on skin: 5 hours on skin and 20 to 24 on clothes. I tested it with 5 friends, and it lasted the same for all of them; one said he felt dizzy after just 4 sprays. I recommend testing it before buying. It’s delicious, but it’s not just grape to make you feel powerful. In the first week, I got 9 compliments from different women, all asking what I was wearing. A blonde at university took a deep breath and asked what I had on. I’ve had it for a month. Rating: longevity 8/10, sillage 4/10, projection 5/10 (a lot at first, then fades until hour 5), price 7/10 (cheap, but there are better options). I’m happy to be the first to review this fragrance that I both love and hate. Cheers.
I bought this fragrance and waited two weeks for it to arrive from Brazil. When I first smelled it in the air, it reminded me of Paco Rabanne’s Invictus; as it dried down, the grape note was very subtle but present, and at the end, the wine note came through. I recommend testing it before buying: it’s very potent in projection but doesn’t last long on skin (5 hours on skin, 20 to 24 on clothes). I tested the longevity with 5 friends, and it lasted about the same for all of them; one said he felt dizzy after just 4 sprays. That’s why I suggest trying it first. Don’t deny it’s delicious, but the grape isn’t strong enough to say ‘I smell like grapes and I’m powerful.’ In the first week, I got 9 compliments from different women, all saying ‘what a great smell’; even a blonde at university took a deep breath and asked what I was wearing. I’ve had it for a month. Rating: compliments 8/10, longevity 4/10, projection 5/10 (projects a lot for the first 2 hours, then fades until hour 5, when you only smell it if you press your nose against the skin), price 7/10 (it’s cheap compared to others, but there are better options that last longer). I’m happy to be the first to review this fragrance that I both love and hate. Cheers.
I love this fragrance: it has an insane opening that fills the whole room. It’s a dark and seductive scent, but not heavy; it feels aquatic, slightly citrusy, and has intoxicating freshly crushed grapes. Then it moves to the pepper that makes it elegant, the softness of cashmere and sandalwood, a slight sweetness from amber and tonka bean, and a gin tonic note that I don’t really sense because it smells more like iced wine to me. Everyone who’s given me compliments says it smells like grapes or cold wine. It lasts 7 to 8 hours on skin and all day on clothes. It has a great trail; you can tell where I’ve been. It’s an amazing perfume, and for the price, it’s absolutely insane.

The O Boticario Nuit de Issey has good performance.
The O Boticario Nuit de Issey: good overall performance.
Disclaimer: I don’t usually write reviews, but this one blew my mind. I own the Nuit d’Issey, but I always test similar scents; I was surprised to see O Boticario instead of an Arabian house. Luckily, there are O Boticario stores here. I smelled it, saw the price, and bought it on the spot. It smells very similar to Issey Miyake: both are dark, elegant, and woodsy. The big difference is that Malbec Noir gets sweeter as it dries down thanks to the wine note (the ‘Malbec’ name really shows). Although both claim to have pepper, I detect much more in the Issey, probably because of the wood density in Nuit d’Issey versus Malbec Noir. If you’re looking for a dark, woody scent for a night out or autumn/winter, I totally recommend it, or as an alternative so you don’t run out of your Issey bottle. Moderate projection; it projects a lot right after application and lasts 7 hours on my skin, then you only smell it if you get close. I recommend 2 sprays instead of one. The atomizer is great for the price—I paid $35, no complaints, it’s exactly what I was looking for. I got compliments, great performance for the money.

Brazilians really know their perfumes; this brand has a ton of great stuff. Natura is top-tier too. My wife got this for me, and I’m from Brazil. The longevity is excellent. I highly recommend it for the price.
