Just discovered Sephora’s exclusive line (at least here). Commmodity is like a toy for perfume lovers, where you can ‘create’ your own scent by mixing bases, notes, and heart accords. The concept is appealing, but I think they should have been more purist with some of them; for instance, this sample I have is dominated by magnolia, yet the other elements (there are quite a few) alter the expected scent. As for sillage and longevity, they perform well; on skin, they last a decent 5-7 hours, and on dry days, the trail radiates beyond you, making it noticeable to people nearby or passersby. It ends up being a bit pricey to play the perfumer since you need at least three bottles, totaling around $300. I think if they sold mini sets with at least five scents, it would be more accessible for those interested in diving into the concept.
