L’Ombre Fauve is one of those perfumes you either adore or despise, no in-between, a creation by Pierre Guillaume. On the first spray, amber and musk lead the experience. The amber is very present, resinous, with a subtle sweetness; it’s lighter than Serge Lutens’ Ambre Sultan and less smoky than Rania J.’s Ambre Loup. It feels warm and cozy because the musks integrate masterfully. It’s quite animalic: it doesn’t smell dirty, but rather like warm, velvety feline skin, with a resinous and sweet amber touch. In the mid-stage, those notes persist, joined by a smoky, earthy, woody patchouli. The amber and musk linger until the end. Try it, never buy it blindly. It’s an excellent alternative to other ambers, with a sexy touch that won’t leave anyone indifferent.
This perfume is one you either love or hate, no middle ground, a creation by Pierre Guillaume. From the first spray, amber and musk take the lead. The amber is strong, resinous, with a soft sweetness; it’s lighter than Serge Lutens’ Ambre Sultan and less smoky than Rania J.’s Ambre Loup. It feels warm and cozy thanks to the musks that blend beautifully with the amber. It’s quite animalic, but not dirty; it smells like warm, velvety feline skin, with a resinous and sweet amber undertone. In the dry-down, the amber and musk remain, accompanied by a smoky, earthy, woody patchouli. The amber and musk dominate until the very end. Try it, don’t buy it blindly. It’s a great alternative to other ambers, with a sexy touch that’s impressive.
L’Ombre Fauve is one of the brand’s best, for good reason. It’s a top-tier blend of amber, patchouli, and incense. To my nose, it’s deep, dark, sometimes powdery, other times incense-heavy, and earthy as well. The musk pops up intermittently with an animal vibe, almost like a feline’s fur, just as SergioAC said. It’s more masculine, perfect for cold weather and semi-formal or dressier looks, with great performance. I’m not a fan of the style, but the quality is excellent: few notes, but all at maximum intensity. Rating: 7.5/10.

For me, patchouli is the star here, wrapped in amber and incense. Warm, earthy, with that powdery touch others mention. The first spray reminded me of the dry-down of Mugler’s A*men… they aren’t the same, but the similarity is clear. It smells serious and mature; if you like patchouli, give this a try.
