Cuir Venenum is an aromatic with a lot of personality and a curious twist on leather, bathed in honey with a white floral base that sometimes sounds odd, but with the musk it ends up fresh and sparkling, balancing the sticky sweetness. I smell more cedar than myrrh, and the coconut gives a candied touch as it dries, adding complexity. I liked it a lot, although sometimes the leather gets lost among the other notes; when it fits, the magic works. For me, who isn’t a fan of white flowers, they seem original and complex. I see it as unisex, for temperate or cold climates, and for semiformal situations or dates. Another great work by Pierre Guillaume that proves he has more quality than his best-sellers. Rating: 8/10

Cuir Venenum is a very intentional proposal with a peculiar twist on leather, bathed in honey and topped with a white floral base that sometimes sounds dissonant, but which, together with the musk, adds freshness and even a spark, balancing out the stickiness the honey could bring. I smell more cedar than myrrh, and the coconut adds a ‘candied’ touch as it dries, adding complexity. I really liked it; it’s interesting. My only gripe is that sometimes the leather gets lost and the other notes overpower it, but when it clicks, the magic flows. Even though I’m not a fan of white flowers, here they bring originality. I see it as unisex, for temperate to cold climates, from semiformal to formal or dates. Another great job by Pierre Guillaume, showing there’s quality beyond his best-sellers. Rating: 8/10

Normally I can’t stand leather-focused perfumes, but here it feels comfortable, with the softness of suede without losing character or presence. It’s crowned by a constant touch of ‘ruffled’ vibe (like Italian limoncello) that reminds me of plum. In some way, it made me think of a much more pleasant Tuscan Leather. I love the balance between subtlety and consistency. Great longevity.

I usually hate pure leather perfumes, but here the leather is soft as suede and keeps its class. It adds a pinch of limoncello that smells like plum and reminded me of a much more pleasant Tuscan Leather. I love this balance between subtlety and consistency, and it lasts all day.
