  A fragrance often underrated in my opinion because it’s marvelous if you like leather. Wasser has created a masterful leather, powerful yet with a slightly sweet, creamy, or floral base (I assume ylang and musk) that lasts many hours. It gives a run for its money to other recent, more famous releases, and for now, it’s the best in this Guerlain collection (even though leather is my favorite note).

  A fragrance focused on elegant, realistic leather. Powerful opening, reminiscent of a stable, with a floral and powdery touch that vanishes in minutes, giving way to dark, dense, hyper-realistic leather, plus the tobacco. As it dries down, the leather load decreases, ending with a semi-sweet, soapy base. I recommend buying it to leather lovers like me, but don’t buy it blindly. I remember the afternoon I smelled it by chance; in the first instant, I knew it would be my next purchase. A Guerlain gem, inexplicably unknown and rarely discussed by YouTube reviewers.

  I tried it at FETICHE perfumery in Guatemala and loved it at first. It’s a serious, creamy, well-defined leather, though a bit flat. I’m not sure when to wear it, but it’s very rich. The only downside is the trail and projection are so intense they overwhelmed me; it feels like I’m wearing it almost 24 hours straight. It’s a very personal scent for leather lovers, not very versatile. Given the price ($250), I’d rather not buy it. Scent: 8.5/10, Sillage: 9/10, Longevity: 9.5/10, Versatility: 7/10.

  A true leather delight. The note is Suederal LT, a hyper-realistic recreation of IFF. It’s tanned with the patina of time. At first, it’s so dominant it just smells like leather; you have to wait 45 minutes for the other notes to emerge and soften it. Osmanthus and ylang make it creamy, sandalwood helps, and tobacco adds depth. It’s strictly masculine, for mature ages and autumn-winter nights. If you like leather, you must know this. It’s not Tom Ford’s isobutylquinoline; this is leather from start to finish. Lasts over 8 hours on my skin and forever on clothes. Great projection. For me, this Cuir Intense hits near perfection. It’s for personal enjoyment and projects seriousness.

  Just tried it. If you like rough leather like Gucci Guilty Absolute but without the cypress, you’ll love it. Not me. I adore the leather in Habit Rouge Privé—think waxed leather briefcase or desk, fine and elegant; this smells like we just hunted rabbits in the woods and are skinning them. Literally. Anyone who’s hunted field rabbits knows the strong musk I’m talking about. Not my style.

  Just tried it and it smells like rough harness leather, similar to Gucci Guilty Absolute but without that cypress note. It didn’t work for me. I love the leathers in Habit Rouge Rouge Privé, those portfolio or well-waxed office desk types—refined, elegant, with a sense of quality and comfort; but this smells like we just hunted wild rabbits and are skinning them right now. LITERAL. Anyone who has hunted field rabbits knows exactly what I mean by that strong, musky scent, and if you try it, you’ll see it’s true. It’s not my style.

  Best of the Guerlain LES ABSOLUS D’ORIENT collection I’ve tried. Smells like leather at first, but as it dries down, it turns into something that sounds like solvent; people have actually told me that.
