Sip, the bottle disappointed me.
The bottle isn’t ugly, though it looks boring and unremarkable; from afar it resembles Britney’s Fantasy, nothing like the previous ones. I hope the scent makes up for it. The notes remind me of Purr, minus the peach, but that’s just my guess until I try it. The only nice thing is the transparent cap with dots that simulate a galaxy, although in person it looks horrible; I hope it looks like in the photos. Don’t judge by the cover. Edit: How delicious! The bottle reminds me of Fantasy or Shrek 2, but the scent is spectacular if you like vanilla. It’s the crème de la crème of this type, with three varieties of vanilla. If I said it looked like Purr, I regret it; it smells new and fresh. Every launch brings something different. At first it’s floral, then the vanilla comes out and stays pleasant on the skin. Mad Potion is halfway through my favorites: almost only vanilla. The bottle doesn’t enamor me, but it’s recommended and you won’t miss anything by trying it.
At first, the alcohol hits hard, but then it explodes into pure, rich vanilla. It doesn’t last long on my skin, but I did like it.
The bottle isn’t too bad, but not too pretty either. The scent smells like you applied cotton candy to your skin. I wouldn’t buy it.
This is an example of a fragrance that didn’t even ‘take off’ well in the market; it seems unfinished, rushed, and careless. Why? Because compared to Katy Perry’s previous ones, with beautiful bottles and acceptable scents, this is a letdown. Katy isn’t the queen of scents, but she’s taken a huge hit with Mad Potion. The aroma is like water with sugar: poor, linear, and lifeless, with no longevity or trail on my skin. It’s not worth it and I didn’t like it. Despite being aimed at a young audience, it doesn’t measure up. I’m sure it will generate more complaints. For the name ‘Mad Potion’, they could have achieved more, but they didn’t. Everything was done very poorly.
Today I tried Mad Potion. Being a fan of Meow and with no offense intended, it’s Katy Perry’s least memorable fragrance. Upon spraying, it releases synthetic vanilla smelling like plastic and alcohol, like any cheap mall body mist. Once the alcohol dries, amber remains on the skin with a hint of apple and musk, giving a certain bitterness. Lasts about 6 to 8 hours. It seems aimed at teenagers, unlike Killer Queen for a more mature audience, but there are less generic alternatives for them.
This is an example of a fragrance that never really took off; it feels unfinished, rushed, and careless. Compared to Katy Perry’s previous ones with nice bottles and acceptable scents, this has taken a huge drop. The scent is like water with sugar, so poor and linear that it has no longevity or sillage on my skin. Not worth it and I didn’t like it at all. Despite targeting a young audience, MP just doesn’t cut it. It will generate more complaints. For the name “Mad Potion,” they could have achieved something more. Everything is done very poorly. Not recommended.
Vanilla, vanilla, and more vanilla. Sweet, caramel, and vanilla. That’s it, nothing different. Smells nice, but it’s similar to almost every sweet fragrance I’ve tried. Smells good, unfortunately the price here is through the roof and for its longevity, I think it’s too expensive. I don’t hate Katy, I really like her, but this fragrance is similar to Meow. The bottle isn’t as ugly as it seems. Pros: smells cute and sweet, the bottle is quirky, and if someone gifted it to me, I’d be thrilled. Perfect for fresh days 🙂
Vanilla, vanilla, vanilla, and more vanilla. Sweet, caramel, vanilla, and vanilla. That’s it, nothing more. It smells good, but it’s similar to almost all sweet fragrances I’ve smelled. Unfortunately, in my country the price is through the roof, and for its longevity, I think it’s too expensive. I don’t hate Katy, on the contrary, I super like her, but this fragrance is similar to Meow. The little bottle isn’t as ugly as it appears here. Pros: cute and tender scent, curious bottle. If they gifted it to me, I’d be delighted. For fresh days, it’s a blast.
Just to clarify, it’s a good perfume, though it resembles others, it’s not bad. Vanilla dominates, but there’s another note I can’t quite identify. I wouldn’t wear it alone; mixing it with other perfumes makes it smell peculiar, which is good. I recommend mixing it with other perfumes!
Great perfume, the best part is it’s pure vanilla, just like the VS body splashes, except Katy Perry’s doesn’t last as long, what a pity 🙁
It’s a good perfume, although it has a certain resemblance to others. Vanilla predominates, but there’s another touch I don’t know what it is. I wouldn’t wear it alone; combining it with other perfumes gives it a peculiar scent, and that’s good. I recommend combining it with others!
What? Mad Potion started with good ideas but didn’t evolve into anything appropriate. It’s way too underwhelming for a brand like Katy Perry. The ingredient mix is so random it feels confusing and boring. What does it smell like? Go to the kitchen and sniff a jar of pure vanilla extract. The quality is low, and the sillage and longevity are poor. It feels rushed, so flat and cold that even a marketing team wouldn’t accept it. It’s a celebrity fragrance stereotype.
Huh? Mad Potion maybe had good ideas at the start to evolve, but it’s excessively low by Katy Perry’s standards. The choice of ingredients is random, unpredictable, and ends up being confusing and boring. What does it smell like? Go to the kitchen, take vanilla essence, and smell it directly; that’s Mad Potion. The quality of ingredients is low; the trail and longevity are reprehensible. It seems made in a rush, so flat, static, cold, and unexpressive that no marketing team would accept it. The neutrality is so high it could be compared to natural selection. I hope they stop with this line or launch better flankers. For now, it’s a celebrity fragrance stereotype.
Personal opinion: I own all of Katy Perry’s perfumes and this one has nothing new; I’ve smelled it before. I thought it wasn’t 100% vanilla and it is. Smells like a VS vanilla body splash, though not exactly the same. It’s a good perfume, I expected more. I recommend it, smells good, soft, and very sweet.
Not at all. Smells like cheap, synthetic, loud perfume. Pretty linear and predictable. I didn’t like it a bit. The only good thing is it lasts a while. The rest? Day j, wouldn’t buy it.
Liked it a little bit, gave it away. Super sweet, loaded with vanilla but weak and lacking depth. Lasts max one or two hours. Won’t buy again.
I won it in a contest with high expectations. The smell was rich, lots of vanilla, very sweet. The downside: poor longevity and sillage. I agree with those who said ‘it’s not the best.’ I wouldn’t buy it.
Found it cheap, loved the box, bottle, and colors, so I took the risk and bought blind. Result: total disappointment. A horrible ‘perfume,’ not even that. Just very soft synthetic vanilla with another note I can’t identify, but it gave me a headache. I’m a vanilla fan, but this caused repulsion. Completely linear, lasts minutes, and no sillage. Ends up as a pretty bottle for the collection.
A disappointment, thank god I tested it first. I like the notes, but on my skin, I don’t perceive any. No sillage; I was impressed by the ABSOLUTE NOTHING that smelled when I applied it.
Very flat aroma, smells like the vanilla essence bottle in my kitchen. I prefer the Yves Rocher one that smells the same but lasts longer with better sillage.
Totally vanilla, sweet like a supermarket body mist.
Katy Perry’s Mad Potion. Delicious and my favorite of the Mad line. Launched in 2015 with Coty, ‘mad potion’. Seductive vanilla and musk. Opens with vanilla, orchid, peonies, and apple. Heart features bourbon vanilla, jasmine, and soft musk. Base is an oriental blend of vanilla, amber, and musk (the vanilla lasts until drydown!). I detect raspberry and marshmallows. Being budget-friendly, it has decent sillage and lasts 5 hours on hydrated skin (I don’t mind carrying the tiny bottle). I love it!
Cute and innocent! I feel it’s Katy Perry’s simplest scent, but good and pleasant. Smells soft: vanilla with a hint of apple, nothing floral or powdery. Youthful, works for daily use, but not for big events due to lacking character; it’s linear but comfortable in hot summers, not overwhelming. I don’t wear heavy perfumes above 95°F because I get dizzy, but this is super comfortable. The downside: it feels like a body mist, not an Eau de Parfum, with little evolution. Sillage and longevity are almost non-existent, skin-only.
Fine for daily wear. The apple gives it a fruity touch, and with vanilla, it’s not heavy at all. Not potent, but it delivers for the price.
A friend gifted this to my daughter for her 23rd birthday on May 16. The presentation is 50 ml. Knowing I love perfumes, she asked for my opinion, and I sprayed two sprays on my arm. It’s mysterious; I imagine the singer from Mecano singing ‘Hijo de la luna’. It’s quite linear, with apple and vanilla as the protagonists. It’s not bad, despite the negative reviews. It’s not for everyone: I see lonely young girls who love black, nothing yellow or orange. It has charm; you have to discover it. The black box with spectacular letters is beautiful, and the bottle is divine, looking like Snow White’s potion. Ideal for afternoon or night, even at silent dinners. For the price, it lasts just enough, with a soft but perceptible trail. I loved it and recommend it to my daughter, who is reserved. Maybe it was Angelina Jolie’s perfume in ‘Maleficent’. If you’re young (17-26), reserved, and not afraid of what others think, it could be your perfume. Go ahead, daughter, enjoy it.
A colleague gifted this to my daughter for her 23rd birthday (50 ml). She asked for my take, so I sprayed it twice. It’s mysterious; I can picture the Mecano singer from ‘Hijo de la luna’. It’s linear, with apple and vanilla taking center stage. Not bad, but not for everyone. It’s for young girls who dress in dark colors, nothing yellow or orange. It has charm if you discover it. The black box and bottle are divine, looking like Snow White’s potion. Great for evening/night or quiet dinners. Lasts just enough, soft sillage. I loved it and recommend it to my reserved daughter. Maybe she used Angelina Jolie in Maleficent. If you’re young (17-26), reserved, and unafraid of what others think, it’s yours. Enjoy!
Bought it for my graduation and I was instantly hooked. Smells like simple vanilla with a tart apple twist; as a baker, it reminds me of opening a potion bottle—it’s a Mad Potion! I love this sweetness, even though it’s straightforward. Longevity is typical cheap celebrity perfume: moderate/low, perfect for short outings of 4-5 hours.
Glad I only tested it and didn’t buy it. I apologize to those who like it, but even I, a huge vanilla lover, think it could have been better. Zero sillage and scarce longevity. If you want a Katy Perry vanilla and sweet fragrance, Meow is a better option in my humble opinion. Anyway, I recommend testing it on skin before buying.
If you mix the Yves Rocher blackberry cologne with the vanilla one, you get this perfume. Once it settles, the vanilla comes out, a bit artificial, but lovers of this note will like it because it persists. For the price it has, it’s not bad.
Mix Yves Rocher’s blackberry cologne with vanilla, and this comes out. With some resting, the vanilla appears, a bit artificial, but lovers of the note will like it because it persists. For the price, it’s not bad.
What can I say about Mad Potion! Haha! The packaging is very pretty and the scent is beautiful, but the projection and longevity left me speechless. It wasn’t what I expected and disappointed me. Haha! What a pity because I love its scent and for the price it’s decent.
I had it but couldn’t stand it anymore; it seemed extremely cloying, and the vanilla is very strong. With this one, you’ll definitely be the person smelling like a pastry. I found a resemblance to Cloud.
It simply smells like the blackberry cologne from Yves Rocher.
If you’re expecting flowers with a woody, musky, and amber finish, you’re mistaken. Mad Potion starts with vanilla, continues with vanilla, and after 12 hours smells like cotton candy. It’s for those who love head-turning sweet perfumes. It doesn’t project much but lingers on clothes and close to the skin for a long time. You’ll smell like cake all day… I love it, I’ve never met a perfume like this. It grabs attention and admiration. A tremendous choice for those who worship the sugary, amen.
If you’re waiting for floral notes with woody, musky, and amber undertones, you’re mistaken. Mad Potion opens and closes with vanilla; at 12 hours, it smells like cotton candy. For those who love extreme sweetness. It doesn’t project much, but it lingers on clothes and close to the skin for a long time. You’ll smell like cake all day. I love it; I’ve never known a perfume like this. It captures my attention and admiration. A tremendous choice for those who worship the overly sweet. Amen.
It’s dominated by vanilla, like a vanilla body spray with a little more to it, but ultimately just a vanilla body spray. At first, I loved it because I was in that phase of smelling like a pastry, but then I got annoyed because the scent changed and became unpleasant. In the end, my younger sister finished the bottle. I doubt I’ll get it again.
In terms of value, it smells weird at first, but once it dries down, that floral vanilla aroma shines through. I feel like it doesn’t evolve much. If you want to smell like cotton candy or a candy bar, don’t hesitate to buy it. The good thing is that it has almost no projection, so it’s not overwhelming if used moderately. I find it very youthful and recommend it for under 25, though of course, perfumes don’t have an age limit.
It was a bust in my collection. I finished it in two months because I needed to reapply it constantly just to be faintly noticeable. It has poor longevity and a weak sillage; however, it smells good (creamy vanilla like Bimbo bread, almost like sunscreen) and the bottle is super creative. Too bad it didn’t have more potential.
I bought this for my almost 7-year-old daughter. We were looking for something sweet but subtle, and we nailed it, even if it’s not a pure gourmand. On me, the vanilla is very prominent while the musk and amber are barely noticeable. It doesn’t last or project like other Katy Perry scents, so I recommend it only for daytime wear in cold weather.
