Itasca by Lubin is an oriental woody fragrance for men and women. Launched in 2010, the nose behind this composition is Lucien Ferrero. The top notes reveal juniper berries, neroli, grapefruit, mandarin, and calendula; the heart unfolds with nutmeg, geranium, statice, clove, and tonka bean; while the base notes close the pyramid with pine, vetiver, fir, resin, frankincense, myrrh, Virginia cedar, and amber.

From the first second to the very end, Itasca screams class and masculinity with a retro style. Nothing feminine or sweet floral; just classic chords radiating testosterone, very typical of vintage men’s scents. Vetiver leads with rich citrus, potent aromatic notes, woods, Iso E, and a sweet balsamic touch like Vertofix. It doesn’t get boring: it’s complex, with fine layers and a masterful high-quality structure. It deserves a spot among the great men’s classics (even if it’s from 2010). As it dries down, I notice a delicious tobacco note. If you’re looking for something fascinating and classic, like pre-reformulation Guerlain vetiver, don’t think twice, try it. It’s unique. It works well for me. At first, neroli and juniper jump out, then spices blend with geranium and statice. The base is a green, resinous, incense-like scent from vetiver, pine, spruce, myrrh, and frankincense. It reminded me of Loewe Essence, but Itasca has better quality. Perfect for spring, summer, and fall during the day. Long-lasting with moderate sillage.
