  Black Jade is a spicy rose, feminine and contained. They say it was Marie Antoinette’s favorite, but I’m not so sure; it sounds more like a marketing tactic. What I love most is the opening: fresh and spicy, where the bergamot and smoky cardamom play against the heat of cinnamon, creating an impressive cold-hot contrast. The rose and the sweet drydown of balsams, incense, patchouli, and vanilla make it a well-crafted, wearable blend. It’s intimate; while it lasts well, it projects very softly (a negative for me). Rating: 7.5.

  Black Jade smells of rose with spices, feminine and contained. They say it was Marie Antoinette’s favorite (I doubt it’s true; it sounds more like marketing). What I love most is the opening: fresh and spicy. The bergamot and smoky cardamom join the heat of cinnamon in a brutally attractive cold-hot game. Then comes the rose and the sweet drydown of balsams, incense, patchouli, and vanilla. It’s a well-made, wearable, and intimate blend; although it lasts well, it projects very softly, which is a bit of a negative for me. Note: 7.5

  Black Jade is perfection; my first niche perfume. I discovered it through the legend, and as a history lover, I felt I had to own it. But upon trying it, I saw it was so much more; I was enveloped by a spicy, slightly peppery cloud, followed by an immense warmth of rose and incense, an exquisite blend. I wore it for the first time at my son’s baptism, and every time I smell it now, I relive that day. The scent blended beautifully with the church incense, creating unforgettable memories. Sincere and true, it didn’t smell like I imagined Marie Antoinette would; it was a pleasant surprise. I expected something more floral, fresh, and feminine, but it’s truly intense with a mysterious aura, one that even a man could wear. Perhaps it’s due to the occasion, but it transports me to a church where incense mingles with the luxurious perfumes of the ladies.

Honestly, it doesn’t smell like I imagined Marie Antoinette would; it was a surprise. I expected something more floral and fresh, but it’s intense with a mysterious aura, even to the point where a man could wear it. Perhaps it’s due to the occasion, but it transports me to a church filled with ladies wearing luxurious perfumes.
