He Is by Benjamin Vicuña: An Aromatic Fougère for the Modern Man
Benjamin Vicuña introduces his new men's fragrance, He Is, launched in 2025. This scent belongs to the Aromatic Fougère olfactory family, striking a balance between freshness and warmth.
With a composition that blends spicy and sweet notes, He Is aims to captivate those seeking a distinctive and versatile aroma. Let's explore its facets.
He Is opens with a vibrant burst where cardamom and black pepper intertwine with the juiciness of apple, creating a fresh and slightly spicy impression that awakens the senses.
In the heart, vanilla brings softness and sweetness, while ginger adds a warm kick and neroli introduces a floral nuance that balances the composition. This blend feels sophisticated and inviting.
The base rests on a woody, sensual foundation: amber and tonka bean provide warmth and depth, sandalwood lends creaminess, and leather adds a masculine, distinctive character. Key accords include fresh spicy, warm spicy, vanilla, amber, fresh, aromatic, fruity, powdery, woody, and green.
In terms of performance, He Is offers moderate sillage and longevity that extends for several hours, ideal for those seeking a scent that is present without being overwhelming. Its versatility allows it to be worn both in the workplace and at casual events.

Good scent, quite reliable, projection and longevity average at best, despite the base notes, it’s a fresher perfume than it appears. Even so, don’t use it above 25° because vanilla and ginger make a weird mix.
Good perfume, which personally I don’t feel much, but I’ve been complimented on it. I feel it’s a perfume that would be more for special nights than for everyday in winter or autumn.
I’m surprised not to see any joke about the figure of Benjamin Vicuña because of this perfume haha.
It’s a sweet perfume where in the dry down vanilla predominates, with very little leather and amber. Its opening is very similar to Born in Roma, without as much mineral nuance, but as time passes (a very brief period) it transforms into something more similar in notes to Givenchy Gentleman Society EDP, with an intensity I’d say 40% relative to Society, with certain powdery nuances. The longevity on skin is 5-6 hours, on clothes much more, but very soft. The projection using 4-6 sprays is no more than 1 hour. I recommend it for use in cold climates, temperate, 24-hour use, in warm environments, nighttime use. In summary, for its value, approximately 20 USD, it’s a good perfume, it’s masculine, sweet, warm notes predominate, powdery, intimate.
A dupe of Valentino Born in Roma EDT, and it smells very similar. A bit synthetic but honestly, for the price ($20), I forgive it. Unlike the one it dupes, this is an EDP, so a few sprays are enough and it lasts very well 6-7 hours, and a bit longer on clothes. It has good longevity and moderate sillage, noticeable for the first 3-4 hours and then it becomes a personal bubble. It has that fresh but well-mineral touch of Valentino, and you can use it all year round without issues. Personally, I wear it to work and it’s wonderful. For its price-performance ratio, I recommend it.

Good perfume, which personally I don’t smell much, but I’ve been complimented. I feel it’s a perfume that would be more for occasional nights than for daily use in winter or autumn.
