Just as we started missing Kemi, Xerjoff dropped some gorgeous bottles and relaunched everything under the K collection. It makes perfect sense to centralize the perfumes and position the K collection with the quality Kemi had; it’s a great move. Hayat is a quality Oud, very similar to Zafar (Indian style with blue cheese vibes) with hints of Ceylon (Cambodian, a bit sweeter), both from the Oud Stars collection. For me, it’s a spicy, woody Oud with extreme versatility; you can wear it in heat without issues and in winter it won’t let you down. Although the Oud is prominent and high-quality, it’s not as challenging upon opening as Zafar nor as sweet as Ceylon. It’s right in the middle ground between both. In my humble opinion, Hayat (both the new and old versions) is light years away from Tom Ford, even though I understand people associate it with cardamom. To compare the Oud type, performance, and quality: Oud Wood is like decaf instant American coffee, while Hayat is freshly ground espresso served in an Italian cup with its foam. Comparing batches (Kemi 0152N vs Xerjoff K 05222N): the Xerjoff bottle is prettier, the atomizer is just as good. The scent is basically the same Oud, but Kemi comes out more citrusy and spicy, while the Xerjoff is heavier on cedar with less orange and lavender. Mid-phase and dry-down are identical. The only difference is that Kemi is brighter and the Xerjoff is more woody. Performance is identical, nothing modified. Thanks for coming back in a prettier bottle, Hayat. Carbonel and Sergio Momo, thanks for not touching these jewels and relaunching them.
HOLY COW! It’s the typical fecal Oud. Literally smells like poop. Unfortunately, I bought it blind because I’m a Xerjoff collector and I love their perfumes, but this one smells like poop. Lasts and projects massively.
Hahaha, this absolutely does not smell like Oud poop…
A beast! My 100ml bottle arrived and it’s identical to the memory of Kemi Hayat. This is pure art, an Oud jewel. Not for beginners or those who call CDNI the ‘black beast’.
This one definitely smells like a Sheikh, only for true collectors, it’s an intense Oud, nothing for amateurs, please keep it out of reach of 🚸 kids.
This one truly smells like a Sheikh. It’s only for true collectors; it’s intense oud. Nothing for amateurs. Please keep it out of reach of 🚸 children.
I loved it. The first time I smelled it, it didn’t catch my attention; I found it boring. To its defense, I had Burjas Oud on and I’d smelled Kemi hahaha, but today I went with a clean nose and honestly, I liked it much more. A noticeable Oud but much more wearable than the ones I mentioned earlier. This one, honestly, I’ll be following to see if I can find it at a good price, because for 100ml it delivers a lot of versatility and quality. Edit: I bought it a month after writing the review, it’s a beast, I don’t find a great evolution and I’m still testing the performance, but it’s a very good perfume. Opens with a powerful Oud, Indian style with cheese, but not as much as Rania J’s Oud Assam. Around 20 mins it settles into a citrus orange accompanied by saffron, cinnamon, cardamom, etc. An exquisite dry-down, really very good. I bought a tester for 190 usd for the 100ml, so I’m more than happy.

Please, what a piece of perfume. That said, you have to endure the shock of the first 15 minutes. From then on, it’s absolute glory. A beast from any angle. Totally formal, it’s the typical one you’d wear in a situation where you want to stand out and say ‘here I am’. It makes sense when they say it’s an Oud Wood with steroids, but this is something else. Extraordinary quality.

Unfortunately, a deviation from the original. I get more citrus and spices, a wider but more disjointed olfactory profile, and not the same lavender.
This morning I sprayed it on my neck, ran into my brother, and shortly after he said he smelled poop and didn’t know where it was coming from. I leaned in and said, ‘Smell this!’ and he couldn’t believe it. He asked why I would wear a perfume that smells like poop. Well, that’s what it smells like: strong, long-lasting, with beastly projection, but horrible. The only Xerjoff I don’t like.
I tried Hayat by Kemi last winter and loved it…. this one couldn’t be any different. Very similar composition, powerful, where the dry down is somewhat hypnotic. Both are aromas for personal enjoyment; neither would get a bottle due to their difficulty of use. The only difference would be Kemi having a spicier and brighter profile. Xerjoff is darker, drier, and more woody. For unique moments, especially nighttime… it would be a marvel to find the perfect moment to wear this scent, but what I know for sure is that wearing it at home is an experience worth considering. It conveys comforting darkness. Performance, nothing to object to.
Supreme quality. A spaced-out opening, spectacular cardamom, and an oud that makes it unique. It’s an Oud Wood elevated to the animalic level, making it powerful and addictive. Scent: 9 Performance: 9 Longevity: Over 7 hours Projection: 1-2 meters Blind buy: 3 Originality: 5 Price: 340€ If you can afford it, you’ll make a difference!!!!

Never happened to me, but in this perfume I can clearly perceive the different notes; I’d say the fragrance is crisp. I find harmony in the notes from the start, dominated by lavender, in the middle by Oud, and at the end with exquisite Cedar. I usually have a hard time appreciating Oud fragrances; they seem like a disgusting smell like burnt oil in most perfumes; but this Oud is elegant, refined, and high-quality, plus it pairs very well.

Short and to the point, HAYAT is a doll. Is it for everyone? Maybe not, but I don’t care. It has one of the best openings I’ve experienced in anything I’ve tried: bitter orange with lavender, making it incredibly aromatic. Idyllic. It conveys strength, packaging, and restraint. In my opinion, among the scents that resemble Oud Wood (which is quite different for me), this is by far the one I like the most. What I love most, regardless of its wonderful opening, is that woody-cypriol profile and intense aroma that make it so imposing. Performance is excellent. I imagine it could perfectly be the perfume a warrior would wear. It could easily be the scent Pelayo would have worn at the Battle of Covadonga.
The Origin of Life: Earth, Spices, and Primordial Fire “Hayat (‘Life’ in Arabic) is an olfactory interpretation of Aristotelian elements, specifically Earth and Fire. If Aqua Regia is nobility, Hayat is the raw brute force of nature. This isn’t a fragrance to seek compliments in an office; it’s a complex work of art telling a story of evolution on the skin. The Opening (Fire): The opening is deceptive and brilliant. The bitter orange and saffron explode immediately, but it’s not a fresh citrus. It’s a burnt, dry citrus, almost as if you threw orange peels into a precious wood fire. The saffron gives it that typical metallic, luxurious touch of Xerjoff, but here it feels more ‘raw’. The Heart (Earth): This is where Hayat separates the boys from the men. The heart reveals a massive dose of Cypriol (Nagarmotha) and Cedar. For those who don’t know, Cypriol smells like wet roots, fertile earth after rain, and smoked wood. It blends with an Oud that is animalic yet incredibly refined (nothing fecal, purely woody and leathery). The Dry Down: Hours later, a trail of cardamom and sweet woods remains that is addictive. The fragrance settles, stopping its shouting and starting to whisper authority. It’s a ‘telluric’ aroma; it connects you to the ground. Comparison: It has the DNA of the old Kemi Blending Magic collection. If you like the darkness of Oud Stars but want something spicier and less medicinal, this is the perfect middle ground. Performance: Longevity: Eternal. Lasts more than 12 hours on skin; on clothes, until you wash it (be careful, the juice stains due to high oil concentration). Projection: Fills a room for the first 2 hours, then creates a very dense personal bubble. Conclusion: Hayat is the scent of a philosopher or a warrior king resting in his tent. It’s complex, earthy, and fascinating. It’s not a blind buy; it’s an intellectual acquisition.
